The young guys are going to get their shot.

With three games left in the season for the Calgary Flames and no hope of making the playoffs, head coach Darryl Sutter wants to get a look at some of his organization’s young prospects. Guys like Adam Ruzicka and Matthew Phillips, both of whom spent the season with the Stockton Heat.

The goal, though, is to make sure they get more than just a one-game cameo.

“I want to make sure Ruzicka gets a couple of games, for sure. I’d like to look at a couple of the other kids from Stockton, for sure,” Sutter said this week. “They’re all gonna get in, I just want to make sure it’s not a one-and-done. It’s going to be back-to-backs somewhere.”

There’s a shortlist of young players who may push for a bigger NHL shot next seas
