The third-year veteran also finished the game with a +1 rating. Back home on Friday night, Huang scored his seventh goal of the season midway through the first period to help pace the Sags to their fourth straight triumph, a 6-4 decision over the Drakkar in the back end of the home-and-home series. BMR Student-Athletes of the Month | January 2026 -
Every month, the QMJHL honors its student-athletes following a consultation conducted by the Director of the Education Program, Valérie Monette, with the League’s academic advisors. “These student-athletes caught our attention for their brilliance both on the ice and in school, says Monette. At the QMJHL, the League, management and players understand the importance of school and do everything in their power to combine studies and sport as best they can. Yes, we want to develop future professional hockey players, but above all good citizens.” These 18 deserving recipients were carefully selected by the league teams’ academic advisors, who play a key role in supporting student-athletes on their educational journey. They are first-hand witnesses to the considerable sacrifices made by these players in their quest for academic success. Congratulations to the 18 BMR Student-Athletes of the Month for January! _

CARLSBERG ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT – MARC DENIS -
“At one point in my life, I didn’t want the red light on,” Marc Denis says. “Now, it means ‘game on’.” That remark, as much as anything else, offers every indication that the former QMJHL and NHL netminder is as agile verbally as he ever was physically during his days between the pipes. And that includes his days as the centerpiece of an impressive Chicoutimi Saguenéens squad. Fans throughout Quebec and beyond depend on Denis, who parlayed that stellar junior career into 349 appearances with the Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets and Montreal Canadiens, to bring them the latest news and information as an on-air personality for RDS. But how did the amiable former goaltender manage to trade in his blocker and catcher for a microphone and earpiece? Much like his days as an All-Star in the Lac-St-Jean region, the timing was ideal. “It was an opportunity that came knocking, basically,” Denis recalls. “I love the game and I wa

Forward of the Month Philippe Veilleux – Val-d’Or Foreurs – 12GP, 10G, 13A, 23Pts The Foreurs put together a successful month of January and Philippe Veilleux was one of the key factors behind it. The 18-year-old from St-Bruno-de-Montarville, Quebec was held off the scoresheet in the Foreurs’ first game of the new year. That would be it for containing the dazzling third-year winger, who enters February on an 11-game point streak. Included in that run are eight multi-point efforts. The high point occurred on the 15th, when Veilleux scored his second hat trick of the season and added an assist against Saint John. The following night, versus Rouyn-Noranda, Veilleux scored a first period power play marker for his 200th regular season QMJHL point. He then proceeded to close out January with seven points in three games, while the Foreurs went 10-2-0-0 on the month to propel themselves up in the Western Conf
