CAN LARKIN & DETROIT RECONCILE? - Winged Wheel Podcast - Aug. 16th, 2026 -
This Detroit Red Wings podcast (without Ryan, forgive the different feel!) asks the question nobody wants to answer: what does this season actually look like if Dylan Larkin stays in Detroit? Hockeytown news & analysis covers the GM search, ownership's autonomy pitch, the Steven Stamkos report, & the barren wasteland of Red Wings free agency options still available. (00:00) - Intro Ryan-less episode means Brad and Evan hold down the fort. Forgive any changes in sound quality or editing in the meantime! (03:40) - The Larkin Reconciliation Scenario If Dylan Larkin rescinds his trade request, how loud do the boos get on opening night? We walk through the good outcomes, the ugly ones, and why the Steve Yzerman connection makes forgiveness harder for a lot of fans. (21:35) - How Long Could This Drag On? If no deal materializes by November, does the trade list finally expand? The pressure of playing every home game in front of a hostile crowd changes things fast. (29:50) - GM Search & Ow

Did Chris Ilitch Sabotage Steve Yzerman? Troubling Red Wings Reports | 7 Minute Wings -
Did Steve Yzerman really have full control of the Detroit Red Wings? Some troubling reports and speculation surrounding Chris Ilitch, Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings are raising that question. Reports are circulating that Ilitch failed to return a phone call at a critical moment when Yzerman was attempting to sign Steven Stamkos — potentially costing Detroit an opportunity to land the star forward. There are also questions surrounding ownership’s involvement, or lack of involvement, when Yzerman reportedly tried to bring Anthony Mantha back to Detroit. Now add another layer: speculation that moving on from Yzerman may have been part of an attempt to repair the relationship between the organization and Dylan Larkin following his trade request. It creates a much bigger question. **Was Steve Yzerman ever truly allowed to do his job?** Yzerman certainly deserves criticism for decisions he made during his tenure. Dylan Larkin Trade UPDATE — But the NHL Has a MUCH Bigger Problem -
We have a new update on the Dylan Larkin trade request — but the conversation surrounding it may have uncovered a MUCH bigger story for the NHL. In a recent Daily Faceoff video, the latest discussion indicates that Minnesota remains the team to watch when it comes to Larkin, while Florida and Vegas no longer appear to have the cap space to realistically make a deal happen. So, has anything really changed for Dylan Larkin? Maybe not. But the conversation then turns to Quinn Hughes, his potential new contract with the Minnesota Wild, and just how expensive that deal could become. That opens up a much larger question. We’ve seen some enormous raises around the NHL, and with salaries climbing rapidly, could the league be entering an economic environment where even rising salary caps aren’t enough for some teams to keep up? Today I’ll go through the latest Larkin update, what was said about Minnesota, and why the discussion surrounding Quinn Hughes and the NHL’s rapidly changing contr

There wasn’t a lot of Blackhawks-specific content in it, but there was some fascinating and valuable minutiae in it that is worth sharing. McIndoe was asked if offer sheets could include other elements, specifically a no-trade or no-move clause. The answer to that is yes. Even if an offer sheet does not include one, the player can’t be traded for a full year if the initial team matches. But offer sheets can afford a player that option. Which brings us to his next point, which brought up Connor Bedard‘s new contract with the Blackhawks.

What Is Going On With Axel Sandin Pellikka? | Red Wings Have a Bigger Plan for ASP -

A viewer recently raised the question after ASP was sent to Grand Rapids following 63 games with the Red Wings last season. With a logjam developing on the right side of Detroit’s defense, it’s fair to wonder exactly where Sandin Pellikka fits. But I think we need to look at the MUCH bigger picture. ASP just turned 21 in March and is entering only his second season in North America. You usually don’t find those guys falling to the 139th overall selection. But Shaw became that guy, authoring some iconic moments that included a header and loving shin pads. He emerged as a guy the Blackhawks needed at a time when they didn’t have a lot coming up thru the organization to help sustain their core. Shaw was eventually traded to the Canadiens, and then he became one of the guys who was brought back to the organization for a second run by Stan Bowman. That didn’t play out as well as anyone h

Edvinssonin […]

Bobby Clarke turns 80: The best and worst of the Flyers icon -
On Aug. 13, 1946, Robert Earle Clarke was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba. He battled the odds, overcame diabetes, and became the face of the Philadelphia Flyers for the better part of the first half of the franchise’s roughly 60-year history. He’s also the only Flyers captain to lead the team to Stanley Cup, and leads the team in games (for now), assists, points, short-handed goals, and even plus/minus (+507). But for all of his greatness on the ice while playing for the club, there were also some miscues when he went from the ice to the front office. So, on the Hall of Famer’s 80th birthday, let’s look back at three of the best things Clarke did for the Flyers. And, on the other side of the coin, three of the things a lot of people would probably like to forget.

Suomalaispelaajan NHL-sopimus nostettiin yhdeksi vuosituhannen surkeimmaksi -
Ville Leinon sopimus Buffalo Sabresin kanssa on nostettu yhdeksi NHL:n tämän vuosituhannen heikoimmaksi. Leino tunnettiin taiturimaisena kiekkoilijana, jonka NHL-ura ei ottanut missään vaiheessa kunnolla tuulta alleen. Hän esiintyi taalajäillä ensimmäistä kertaa kaudella 2008-09 Detroit Red Wingsin paidassa. Avauskaudellaan hän tilastoi lupaavasti 13 ottelussa yhdeksän (5+4) tehopistettä. Seuraavalla kaudella pistetahti jäi kuitenkin vaisuksi ja hänet kaupattiin […]

Moritz Seider & Lucas Raymond: The Red Wings’ Foundation Going Forward? -
The next Detroit Red Wings GM will inherit plenty of difficult decisions — but Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond could make two of them pretty easy. Both young stars are receiving recognition around the hockey world. Seider was recently named the Top Defensive Defenseman by The Hockey News, while Raymond was ranked the #20 winger by NHL Network. Today on 7 Minute Wings, I’m taking a closer look at what that recognition says about both players — and why I believe Seider and Raymond could be two cornerstone pieces for whoever takes over in Detroit. There are plenty of questions surrounding the direction of this roster, but these are two players the next GM may have an opportunity to build around for years to come. Are Seider and Raymond the foundation of the next era of Red Wings hockey? If you were the new GM, would these be the first two players you build around? Let me know in the comments! #DetroitRedWings #RedWings #MoritzSeider #LucasRaymond #LGRW #NHL #7MinuteWings

NHL-tähti esitti tiukan vaatimuksen seuralleen – nyt uusi GM joutuu heti kiusalliseen tilanteeseen -
Detroit Red Wingsin kapteenin Dylan Larkinin tulevaisuus on edelleen hämärän peitossa. Detroit etsii parhaillaan […]

Vanek, 18, was drafted by Ottawa with the 93rd overall pick in the third round of the 2025 NHL Draft. Vanek is primed to take a big step forward in his sophomore WHL season, especially after pott
