BMR Student-Athletes of the Month | January 2026 -
Every month, the QMJHL honors its student-athletes following a consultation conducted by the Director of the Education Program, Valérie Monette, with the League’s academic advisors. “These student-athletes caught our attention for their brilliance both on the ice and in school, says Monette. At the QMJHL, the League, management and players understand the importance of school and do everything in their power to combine studies and sport as best they can. Yes, we want to develop future professional hockey players, but above all good citizens.” These 18 deserving recipients were carefully selected by the league teams’ academic advisors, who play a key role in supporting student-athletes on their educational journey. They are first-hand witnesses to the considerable sacrifices made by these players in their quest for academic success. Congratulations to the 18 BMR Student-Athletes of the Month for January! _

26 QMJHL Alumni at 2026 Olympic Winter Games -
The 2026 Olympic Games begin this Friday in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, and 26 former QMJHL players will participate in the ice hockey tournament. Slovakia will have five former QMJHL players, compared to four for Latvia and Switzerland. Canada, Italy, and Czechia will each have three. Denmark follows with two, one more than France and Germany, while Finland, Sweden, and the United States will have none. Naturally, all eyes will be on Team Canada, which will count on three former QMJHLers, and three big names: Sidney Crosby of the Rimouski Océanic, Nathan MacKinnon of the Halifax Mooseheads, and Brad Marchand, who split his junior career between Moncton, Val-d'Or, and Halifax. All three will play a key role for Canada in its quest for the gold medal. In fact, Slovakia will be relying on four former QMJHL players, not five, since Marek Hrivik (Moncton) is injured. However, Lukas Cingel (Baie-Comeau), Michal Ivan (Acad

The 2026 Olympic Games begin this Friday in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, and 24 former QMJHL players will participate in the ice hockey tournament. Latvia, Slovakia, and Switzerland will each have four QMJHL alumni, while Canada, Italy, and Czechia will have three. Denmark, France, and Germany will each have one alumnus from our league, while Finland, Sweden, and the United States won’t have any. As a matter of fact, only Switzerland will be relying on four former QMJHL players, as Rodrigo Abols (Acadie-Bathurst) and Eriks Mateiko (Saint John and Rimouski) are injured for Latvia, as is Marek Hrivik (Moncton) for Slovakia. Prospect of the Week: William Lacelle -
Throughout the 2025-26 regular season, the QMJHL will be highlighting one player that is eligible for the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on a weekly basis. The standout prospect of Week 19 of the regular season was Blainville-Boisbriand Armada goaltender William Lacelle. The 18-year-old netminder was outstanding, recording two wins in as many starts to help the Armada take first place in the Western Conference. Lacelle finished the week with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .985% save percentage. On Friday night, the Armada goaltender turned aside all 32 shots he faced in a convincing 7-0 win over the Quebec Remparts. An obvious choice as the game's first star, Lacelle stopped all six power play opportunities for the Remparts in the game. It was his fifth shutout of the season, tying him with Raphaël Précourt for the league lead in that category. On Sunday afternoon, the Armada visited the Drummondville Voltigeurs and left the Marcel-Dionne Center with a 2-1 victory. Lacelle was o

QMJHL Players of the Month | January 2026 -
Forward of the Month Philippe Veilleux – Val-d’Or Foreurs – 12GP, 10G, 13A, 23Pts The Foreurs put together a successful month of January and Philippe Veilleux was one of the key factors behind it. The 18-year-old from St-Bruno-de-Montarville, Quebec was held off the scoresheet in the Foreurs’ first game of the new year. That would be it for containing the dazzling third-year winger, who enters February on an 11-game point streak. Included in that run are eight multi-point efforts. The high point occurred on the 15th, when Veilleux scored his second hat trick of the season and added an assist against Saint John. The following night, versus Rouyn-Noranda, Veilleux scored a first period power play marker for his 200th regular season QMJHL point. He then proceeded to close out January with seven points in three games, while the Foreurs went 10-2-0-0 on the month to propel themselves up in the Western Conf

Prospect of the Week: Egor Shilov -
Throughout the 2025-26 regular season, the QMJHL will be highlighting one player that is eligible for the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on a weekly basis. The top prospect of Week 17 in the QMJHL is none other than Victoriaville Tigres centerman, Egor Shilov. The athlete from Tyumen, Russia, may not have found the back of the net last week, but he did everything he could to help his team out with five assists in two games. Unfortunately for Shilov and the Tigres, they lost twice to the powerful Drummondville Voltigeurs, leaders of the Western Conference. On Friday night, the Tigres were unable to overcome a 4-1 deficit after 20 minutes of play and suffered a 9-5 loss in front of their fans. Shilov was still able to showcase his talent, recording three assists in the game: one on the power play, one on the penalty kill, and one at even strength. He also won 57% of his faceoffs and had four shots on goal. On Sunday afternoon, Shilov and the Tigres played a much closer game before los

Prospect of the Week: Jan Larys -
Throughout the 2025-26 regular season, the QMJHL will be highlighting one player that is eligible for the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on a weekly basis. The top prospect for Week 18 of the QMJHL regular season is Drummondville Voltigeurs goaltender, Jan Larys. Born in Ostrava, Czechia, the goaltender was spectacular in both of his team's games last week, in Newfoundland and Halifax respectively. Larys won both of his starts, extending his winning streak to four games. On Thursday night, the Voltigeurs faced the Newfoundland Regiment for the first time at the Mary Brown's Centre, and Larys made sure the local fans would remember his performance. The 17-year-old goaltender stopped all 26 shots he faced to lead Drummondville to a 4-0 win. To earn his second shutout of the season, Larys had to stop all four of his opponents' power play opportunities. He was named the game's second star. On Sunday afternoon, Larys and the Voltigeurs needed overtime to complete their comeback and defea
