So I thought I would try something different here, a Buffalo Sabres pop quiz. This is no Jedi mind trick, just a simple 20 question quiz on your knowledge of the Blue and Gold. Your score is on the honor system. See how many you can get right and post your results. (with a twist) Be sure and tell the truth now! I will give everyone some help by making all the answers multiple choice. You WILL be graded on this but not by the number of correct answers you get. Instead, a current or former Buffalo Sabres player will represent your score. That is the twist. The chart is as follows: If you get.. 19-20 correct, you are Dominik Hasek 17-18 correct, you are Gilbert Perreault 15-16 correct, you are Pat LaFontaine 13-14 correct, you are Rasmus Dahlin 11-12 cor

As they work to do so, however, the Blueshirts will have to face a tour of former players. Which NHL teams improved the most this offseason? Ranking all 32 -
From most value added to least, here’s how each team has changed this summer. >Out: Emil Heineman, Logan Mailloux, David SavardIf you’re a Canadiens fan, it’s time to get excited. Only one team has improved more over the last summer externally and it’s likely that few teams will improve more internally, given the collective age of Montreal’s roster.AdvertisementThat doesn’t necessarily mean the Canadiens will improve over last year’s finish, but it does mean they are far less likely to regress with significantly more substance behind their results. The big get is Noah Dobson, who has the potential to be Lane Hutson’s Devon Toews. Dobson is a true top-pair defenseman, someone who adds tremendous upside to Montreal’s back end with his puck-moving ability. He’s a substantial get on his own, but the fact that it also means no more David Savard almost doubles the joy. Between the two, it’s a 16-goal swing. It’s a similar effect in giving up Emil Heineman for Dobson, and then trading for Zack

Buffalo Signs Bowen Byram to 2-yr Contract -
Defenseman Remains a Sabre, For Now Bowen Byram has signed a new two year, $12.5 million dollar contract with the Buffalo Sabres. The 24 year old defender was a RFA but seemed to have one foot out the door this off season. (much like JJ Peterka) He sought big money and the opportunity to be a true number one defenseman. The two sides avoided a salary arbitration hearing that the Sabres elected. Why did he sign? Well Buffalo still owns his rights for starters. This deal takes the player right to unrestricted free agency though. In two years Byram will control his own destiny. Meanwhile, the Sabres still get a possible two full years out of the player. Good fortune and a playoff birth or two could influence Bo into staying beyond that. That seems unlikely but the team can cross that bridge if they get there. This signing makes Byram attractive and affordable for most teams that were interested already. So a deal to move him cou
