Western Hockey League alumni Andrew Ladd, Travis Green, Josh Gorges and Daryl Reaugh have been named to the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame's Class of 2026. The group will be formally inducted on July 11, 2026. Maple Ridge, B.C.'s Ladd was an immediate sensation in the WHL after joining the Calgary Hitmen in 2003-04. The 6-foot-3 winger took off for 30 goals and 45 assists for 75 points in 71 games, leading all rookies in points and goals while posting the league's best plus/minus with a +39 rating. Ladd was dubbed a top prospect heading into that summer's draft and was selected fourth overall by the Carolina Hurricanes. His final season of major junior saw Ladd earn the alternate captaincy and pick up 45 points (19G-26A) in 65 outings and capture a gold medal at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship. Ladd's 17-season NHL tenure saw the hardworking forward hoist the Stanley Cup twice- once as a rookie with the Hurricanes in 2006, and later with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010. He suit

Spokane, Wash. — The Spokane Chiefs announced on Thursday that defenseman Will McIsaac has been named team captain for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. McIsaac becomes the 38th captain in franchise history and takes over for Berkly Catton, who has remained up with the Seattle Kraken this season. "At the beginning of the year we were unsure what our team would look like, but now that our team is set for the rest of the season we felt it was important to add a captain to our leadership group," Chiefs Head Coach Brad Lauer said. "We feel that Will embodies all the right qualities and is the perfect fit to lead this group through the rest of the season." McIsaac was drafted by the Chiefs 28th overall in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft and made his Western Hockey League debut on January 15, 2022 against the Kamloops Blazers. Since then, he's suited up for 245 career WHL games, logging 95 points and a +54. McIsaac is currently second among Spokane defensemen this season,

Edmonton, Alta. – The Edmonton Oil Kings announced today that they have signed 2010-born forward Ezekiel Kaebel to a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement. “We are thrilled to officially welcome Ezekiel and his family to the Oil Kings,” said Oil Kings Director of Scouting Michael Chan. “Ezekiel was a player we targeted heavily going in to the US Prospects Draft last season, and we are very excited to have him join our development environment. He is a dynamic playmaker that loves having the puck on his stick; he has the ability to be creative and make guys miss but at the same time is direct and high-tempo in his approach. Through our time spent with Zeke, we have seen a player that is hungry to improve, and we are excited to see him continue to take steps to grow his game as an Oil King.” Drafted third-overall in the 2025 WHL U.S. Prospects Draft, Kaebel, listed at 5’11”, 175lbs, is currently playing with the Dallas Stars Elite 16U AAA program. Vancouver, B.C.- This time last year, Ben Kindel was laser-focused on pushing to the WHL Playoffs. But as he embarked on a 99-point season that saw him set a Calgary Hitmen record for longest point streak (23 games), he was also looking ahead to the 2025 NHL Draft with quiet excitement and anticipation. How quickly things change. Seven months after the Pittsburgh Penguins selected the 18-year-old with the 11th overall pick, Kindel found himself back in the Scotiabank Saddledome for the first time since bowing out in the 2025 WHL Eastern Conference Championship- this time, sitting in the visitors' dressing room. Exactly 15 defencemen in QMJHL history have recorded 100 or more points in a single season. Michel Périard is one of them. On top of hitting the century mark, Périard also hit the jackpot, leaving the ‘Q’ as a Memorial Cup Champion with the 2000 Rimouski Océanic. But had you told him back then – or even in the latter stages of a 17-year pro career – that he would find a home behind the bench, he would’ve been skeptical. “It was unexpected,” he says of his transition to coaching. “As a player, I wasn’t a big talker in the room. I was more of a leader on the ice. But I was lucky because I had some great leaders in the room with me during my career.” “I got a call from my old (U-18) coach and he asked if I was interested in being an assistant,” Périard goes on to say, discussing his first stop with the Collège Charles-Lemoyne Riverains. “Thinking back on it, the last four or five years I was playing, I’d really enjoyed helping along

Throughout the 2025-26 regular season, the QMJHL will be highlighting one player that is eligible for the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on a weekly basis. The top prospect of Week 17 in the QMJHL is none other than Victoriaville Tigres centerman, Egor Shilov. The athlete from Tyumen, Russia, may not have found the back of the net last week, but he did everything he could to help his team out with five assists in two games. Unfortunately for Shilov and the Tigres, they lost twice to the powerful Drummondville Voltigeurs, leaders of the Western Conference. On Friday night, the Tigres were unable to overcome a 4-1 deficit after 20 minutes of play and suffered a 9-5 loss in front of their fans. Shilov was still able to showcase his talent, recording three assists in the game: one on the power play, one on the penalty kill, and one at even strength. He also won 57% of his faceoffs and had four shots on goal. On Sunday afternoon, Shilov and the Tigres played a much closer game before los

The latest Videotron Player of the Week is Chicoutimi Saguenéens center Nathan Lecompte. In a pair of games, the 19-year-old from Châteauguay, Quebec scored five goals and added an assist as the league-leading Sags went 1-1-0-0 on the week. On Friday night at home, Lecompte was a force, scoring four times, including the game-winner, in a 9-3 triumph over the Val-d’Or Foreurs. It was the third-year veteran’s first four-goal performance in the ‘Q’ and was heightened by a +2 rating. It also made Lecompte the clear choice for first star of the game. Back home on Saturday afternoon, Lecompte and the Saguenéens fell in a 3-2 decision to the Moncton Wildcats in a hard-fought battle between the league’s top two teams. Despite the setback, Lecompte still found the scoresheet, contributing to both of his team’s goals by finding the back of the net and adding a power play assist. Owen Sound Attack General Manager, Dale DeGray says although Langdon didn't join the Attack back in 2022, he often checked to see how Langdon was doing in his hockey career. "With the shortage of forwards and the ability to bring in players from the BCHL this was a very easy decision for us having known Jared previously. Larys won both of his starts, extending his winning streak to four games. On Thursday night, the Voltigeurs faced the Newfoundland Regiment for the first time at the Mary Brown's Centre, and Larys made sure the local fans would remember his performance. The 17-year-old goaltender stopped all 26 shots he faced to lead Drummondville to a 4-0 win. To earn his second shutout of the season, Larys had to stop all four of his opponents' power play opportunities. He was named the game's second star.
