2026-27 NHL Team Preview: Chicago Blackhawks Rebuild and Key Additions -
The Chicago Blackhawks finished the previous season in the bottom of the Western Conference, continuing a six-season streak without playoff contention. Despite an optimistic start including strong performances from rookies like Connor Bedard and Spencer Knight, injuries hampered the team, revealing their lack of depth during a ongoing rebuild. This offseason, notable trades and signings, including the return of Patrick Kane, aim to revitalize the roster. As young talents prepare for larger roles, the focus shifts toward development and increasing competitiveness.

Blackhawks Know Thy Enemy: St. Louis Blues Offseason Reset -
We continue our look around the Central Division today with the St. Louis Blues. They have a new general manager as former player Alexander Steen was elevated to replace Doug Armstrong. The Blues got busy in the trade market this summer to change their forward mix, and were able to add a veteran defenseman as well. Trade rumors swirled around St. Louis last year, with Jordan Kyrou, Robert Thomas, Colton Parayko and Jordan Binnington all linked to other teams at some point. Only one of those four has been moved thus far. And the additions made this summer would suggest at least Thomas is likely to stay put moving forward.

Looking ahead to the 2026-27 season, there’s been some chatter on the socials and interwebs about potential break out candidates on the Blackhawks this season. A lot of the talk has been about some of the young forwards taking a step forward or one of the two young right-handed defensemen, Artyom Levshunov and Sam Rinzel, finding his groove in the NHL (maybe both?). But there’s another skater on the roster who could see his game really elevate in the coming season — and he could be a huge piece for the Blackhawks’ emergence from the cellar. Alex Vlasic, who enters the 2026-27 season as the longest-tenured defenseman on the Blackhawks’ roster, could be an important break out player in Chicago this year.

A No. 1 Ranking! Donato’s Value, Boisvert Boxing, Frondell BTS, and Other Blackhawks Bullets -
Let’s open our Tuesday by talking a little about one of the Blackhawks’ forwards who hasn’t been talked about much this offseason: Ryan Donato. There have been a lot of fans pointing to his scoring dropping from his career-best 31 goals to 15 — more in line with his career averages — last year as a negative in the Blackhawks’ offense. But there’s a little more to unpack there. One significant thing that impacted that for Donato last year was his linemates. He spent the biggest portion of his even strength ice time (459:43) with Ilya Mikheyev last year. He also skated 244:00 with Jason Dickinson. Behind those two? Donato skated between 100-200 minutes with six different Blackhawks forwards. Connor Bedard (72:21) was not among those six. The

The Jets were arguably the most disappointing team in the NHL last year, dropping from the Presidents Trophy to a top-ten pick in the draft. Almost everything that could have gone wrong did — except Jonathan Toews appearing in all 82 regular-season games. Winnipeg had an interesting summer, making a few strategic additions while losing a limited number of players (including Toews). The Jets will hope to see a bounce back to closer to the top of the league after an injury-plagued campaign. Yesterday, I shared my thoughts on the league-wide front office confidence poll at The Athletic. Blackhawks Labeled Contenders in Future Projections (But How Close to the Top?) -
