Buffalo Cashes in With the 4th Overall pick, the 45th pick and Dman Louis Crevier Buffalo Sabres general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen cleared out some major league cap space for the team by moving starry-eyed Bowen Byram and 4th liner Jordan Greenway. Bo and his agent have become a headache for the Blue and Gold with his desire to become a number one defender with the salary to match. Greenway’s earnings just didn’t match the production, even though he had some nice attributes. The Sabres are now in possession of the 4th overall pick in this week’s draft. They could grab a top talent in that range who could be a real difference maker soon. Or they might use it as ammunition along with other assets to nab a legit star to add to this roster. Jarmo is about the here and now mostly, so I tend to believe that the pick could be on the move. Buffalo also has a 2nd round pick again, getting Chicago’s 45th overall. Some good talent should

Sharks trade William Eklund to Ottawa Senators -
The San Jose Sharks have traded the team’s longest tenured forward to the Ottawa Senators. This afternoon, the Sharks organization announced it traded William Eklund, Kasper Halttunen and Brandon Svoboda to the Senators for the 9th overall pick in the upcoming draft. The deal comes one day after the Senators acquired the ninth overall pick (along with a few others) from the Florida Panthers for Brady Tkachuk. What the Sharks lose in this deal Obviously, the biggest loss in this deal is Eklund. The 23-year-old winger is coming off a “down” season in which he had just 53 points in 78 games. Of course, there are a few caveats to that. Eklund, while reportedly healthy, was coming off a summer in which he had surgery on his arm. Fans will remember he suffered a brutal cut at the World Championship that knocked him out of the tournament before it really got started. He was ready to start the season out of training camp, but he didn’t seem like his complete self unti

How Chicago deployed its centers last season, how they performed, and what that means going forward -
It was a little after 4 p.m. Chicago time in the second week of October when the puck dropped on the 2025-26 season, with the Hawks on the road against what was then the two-time defending Cup champions in the Florida Panthers. Visiting teams announce their starters first, and new head coach Jeff Blashill played it safe. Rather than putting superstar Connor Bedard out for the opening draw — as I’m sure the TV networks were hoping — he went with his shutdown line. He started Jason Dickinson, centering Ilya Mikheyev and Colton Dach, supported on the back end by Connor Murphy and Ethan Del Mastro, with Spencer Knight in net. The Panthers had already been decimated by injuries by that time. Superstars like Barkov and Tkachuk were already out injured, so their top line that night was Conn Smythe winner Sam Bennett centering Brad Marchand and Carter Verhaeghe, supported on the back end by Niko Mikkola and old friend Seth Jones, with Sergei Bobrovsky

2026 NHL Draft: The case for Ivar Stenberg -
Since coming to San Jose to helm the Sharks, General Manager Mike Grier has never wavered from his promise of drafting the best player available (BPA). He’s always said that he will draft the BPA and no matter what the noise around him is, he’s stuck to that promise. It happened last season when the Sharks selected Michael Misa despite having a need for a defenseman and even more so when, with the 30th overall pick, the team selected goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen because he was next up on the team’s internal list of best players available. Which brings us to this year’s draft, where Grier has again said that he will draft the BPA, and if that’s the case, most people are saying that if the Toronto Maple Leafs take Gavin McKenna as expected, then the BPA at number two will be Ivar Stenberg from Sweden.
