All-Time Rangers Management Player Mistakes -
1. ALLAN STANLEY: The big defenseman cost the Rangers the equivalent of four minor league players worth $40,000 right after World War II. Although fans wanted Allan to play a tougher game, that wasn't his style. The Rangers failed to give Stanley enough time to mature and foolishly traded him to Chicago on Thanksgiving Day eve, 1954. So good was Al that he's now in the Hall of Fame and winner of four Stanley Cup rings – as a Maple Leaf.

Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart: Flyers 5, Blackhawks 1 -
In a sloppy, turnover-filled mess from start to finish, the Chicago Blackhawks fell 5-1 to the Philadelphia Flyers Thursday. The Flyers opened the scoring just 48 seconds into the game. Spencer Knight tried to play the puck to Artyom Levshunov, but Christian Dvorak hustled to intercept the pass and fed Alex Bump in front for an easy tap-in, giving the Flyers a 1-0 lead. Knight misplays it and the Flyers capitalize to open the scoring: pic.twitter.com/iiLIP7m9nm— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) March 26, 2026 Sean Couturier doubled the Flyers’ lead to 2-0 less than two minutes later after another Blackhawks turnover — this time by Andre Burakovsky — led to Couturier tapping in Travis Konecny’s shot-pass.

1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New)Blackhawks at Flyers -
The Chicago Blackhawks kick off a back-to-back set Thursday night, continuing their East Coast swing with a stop in Philadelphia to take on the Flyers. Like the New York Islanders on Tuesday, it’s been since late December that the Blackhawks last faced the Flyers, but it’s been more of a downhill slide for the team from Philly over the past few months. Back when the two teams faced off before Christmas, the Flyers were sitting second in the Metropolitan Division and in the Eastern Conference but are currently sitting five points out of the playoff spot. With only 12 games left and several teams clustered around the same point pace battling for the final playoff spots, it feels like a tall order for the Flyers to scrap their way in — especially when they haven’t been successful much as home lately. The Flyers are now just 2-8-4 in last 14 home games… they have won 7 straight on the road.

No Requiem for the Wicked: Blackhawks vs. Predators Preview -
Following a loss on Friday night, the Chicago Blackhawks host the Nashville Predators on Sunday afternoon — a team that was supposed to be at the bottom of the standings, but has snuck their way back into the playoff conversation. The Predators are currently in the second wild card spot with 73 points. That’s right: even though Nashville was supposed to be hanging out in the basement of the league alongside the Blackhawks, they’ve won three straight, have a 5-4-1 record in their last 10 games, and are making things difficult for the Pacific Division teams fighting for a wild card spot: the Los Angeles Kings (72 points), Seattle Kraken (71), and the San Jose Sharks (70). A part of Nashville’s recent success is positive regression towards the mean in shooting percentage. On the season, the Preds have been shooting at 8.48 percent at 5-on-5 — ranked 27th overall. In their last 10 games, that’s bumped up to 9.60 percent. Not an insane numbe

Staring at the Blank Page Before You: Blackhawks at Islanders -
The Chicago Blackhawks kick off a four-game road trip Tuesday night against the New York Islanders. And oh yeah, top prospect Anton Frondell is officially in the lineup tonight for his NHL debut! Since the Blackhawks last saw the Islanders at the end of December, their points percentage has ticked up slightly from .590 to .599, but they’ve still slid in the standings, going from third in the Metropolitan Division to just outside the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Detroit Red Wings currently hold a razor-thin edge at .600, which really just underscores how competitive the East has been this season: even maintaining a solid pace hasn’t guaranteed anything. The Ottawa Senators are right there as well at .593, so this is shaping up to be a photo finish down the stretch, and the Islanders will be desperate to get a win Tuesday against the Blackhawks. Run Right Back: Predators 3, Blackhawks 2 (OT) -
The Chicago Blackhawks lost to the Nashville Predators 3-2 in overtime on Sunday afternoon, a game that helped Nashville solidify its hold on the second wildcard spot. Nick Lardis opened the scoring 4:34 into the second period following a 2-on-1 rush with Frank Nazar. The play was initiated by a pass from Tyler Bertuzzi in the defensive zone, and Lardis’s pass to Nazar went off Nicolas Hague’s stick and into the net. Sharks at Predators game 69: Lines, game thread and how to watch -
The San Jose Sharks are back on the road and hopefully able to get back in the win column today. San Jose pays a visit to the Nashville Predators this afternoon. It’s the key matchup on this three game road trip with the biggest playoff implications. A win today would be a four point swing in the playoff race, since Nashville has caught up to the Sharks and even jumped into the second wildcard spot. If San Jose wants to stick in this playoff race, a win today is essential. The Sharks get some key players back today. It looks like Igor Chernyshov is ready to play after taking a tough hit on the last road trip. Yaroslav Askarov won’t get the start today, but he might be on the bench in a backup role. Ty Dellandrea is on this road trip, though whether he’ll play or just be along for the vibes is yet to be seen. The Predators have been on a roll since Dec. 8, when the team was 32nd in the NHL. Most recently, the team has won four in a row and just beat the Chicago B

Sharks Playoff/Lottery Hopes March 25, 2026 -
The San Jose Sharks are swimming in some uncharted waters. Not only is the team still a playoff contender, though its chances are dwindling dramatically, but the Sharks are also very much a lottery contender, putting the team in a very interesting position heading into the final few weeks of the season. As Sharks fans, that means there are two races to watch this time around. The race for the playoffs and the race to see who will have the best odds of picking first overall in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. Playoff Race Update It was a busy night for the contenders. As we know, the Nashville Predators continued to show a veteran strength, winning the team’s fifth straight game 6-3 over the Sharks. The Predators also gained ground on the Utah Mammoth, the current holders of the first wild card spot. The Mammoth lost in regulation to the Edmonton Oilers 5-2. And around the league, no one did the Sharks any favors. The Florida Panthers allowed the

The Lottery Race: Where Will the Jets End Up? -
After I clocked out for the week from my full time gig, I decided to spend a bit of time looking to see what the likelihood is the Winnipeg Jets will use their final 14 remaining games to move up or down in the standings. The recent losses to the Nashville Predators and Boston Bruins have made a playoff bid even more unlikely, yet the True Northers are still only 5 points back of the Los Angeles Kings for the Western Conference’s final wildcard spot. However, with three more clubs between Winnipeg and a playoff berth, there are many other contenders for the 8th spot. I will dive more into the chances for the Nashville Predators, Seattle Kraken, or San Jose Sharks ousting the Kings for the post-season later, but lets just say that Los Angeles has by far the easiest schedule left to play…so they have a HUGE advantage. Before I go on with what I discovered, here is how the bottom of National Hockey League’s standings looked before action got unde

GM #66: St. Louis Blues @ Winnipeg Jets -
With the surprising win on Saturday over the league leading Colorado Avalanche, the Winnipeg Jets have managed to pull within 6 points of the Western Conference’s final wildcard spot. That spot is currently being held by the San Jose Sharks, who have played 1 less game than the True Northers, and our club still needs to pass 4 other franchises in standings before they could grab that last post-season berth. So there is a lot of work to be done with only 17 more contests left in the regular season. After effectively stifling the high powered Avs’ offense for large chunks of yesterday’s contest, Winnipeg will have another difficult test this afternoon when the streaking St. Louis Blues visit. The Central Division team has been excellent since the Olympic break concluded (7-1-1), yet they remain near the bottom of the NHL standings. Coming into today’s action, both the Jets & Blues are tied for the league’s 4th worst reco

GM #71: Vegas Golden Knights @ Winnipeg Jets -
Up until now, the Jets have stubbornly remained in the wildcard fight, routinely picking up at least one point (only outright lost 4 of their past 16 contests). Despite Winnipeg often adding points to their year total, they actually have only managed to move from the 5th worst record to the 7th. However, since there are 5 teams with 2 or less points ahead of them in the standings….our hockey team could significant diminish the value of their upcoming 1st round draft pick over the remainder of the schedule. Yet Tuesday begins a tough stretch for the Winnipeg Jets, as they will have four games against clubs that have historically caused the True Northers problems…..the Colorado Avalanche, the Dallas Stars, and today’s opposition, the Vegas Golden Knights. With only the easier Chicago Blackhawks in the next 5 contests, there is a possibility that the Jets could walk away with only 2-3 out of 10 potential points and stall their slow crawl up the st

GM #65: Colorado Avalanche @ Winnipeg Jets -
The National Hockey League had a light schedule for Friday, with only two games on the books…yet both outcomes had an impact on our franchise. With the St. Louis Blues’ overtime win against the Edmonton Oilers, the Winnipeg Jets fell from 27th to 28th in the standings and the Los Angeles Kings victory over the New York Islanders extended the gap to the Western Conference’s final wildcard spot to 7 points. So the True Northers fell back on a night they weren’t even playing…….and now they have to face the league leading Colorado Avalanche to try to restore their post-season hopes. The Avs have been the cream of the NHL this season, amassing a whopping 97 points and are pace for a total of 124 for the full campaign, which is 8 more than the President Trophy winning Jets had last year. The two franchises could not be more different this season…. Winnipeg (26-28-10) will be entering the action on a 2 game losing ski

GM #70: Winnipeg Jets @ New York Rangers -
Another very early game on Sunday has led to an abbreviated preview yet again….. WPG Jets @ NY Rangers Start Time: 11 am Central – Madison Square Garden Winnipeg (28-29-12) is in 27th place in the NHL with 68 points on the season, scoring 196 Goals For (tied for 24th) and allowing 217 Goals Against (tied for 19th). Mark Scheifele leads the Jets with 31 goals, 52 assists, and 83 points. Kyle Connor is tied for the goal scoring lead as well, while Gabriel Vilardi is 5 back with 26 goals. New York (28-33-8) has the 29th best record in the league with 64 points, scoring 196 Goals For (tied for 24th) and allowing 221 Goals Against (tied for 22nd). Mika Zibanejad leads the Rangers with 29 goals, 37 assists, and 66 points this year.
