The Florida Panthers selected right wing Shamar Moses in the fifth round (129th overall) of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft held at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. After putting up 25 points in his first year in the OHL with the Barrie Colts, Moses began his draft season in Barrie, where he played five scoreless games before he was traded to the North Bay Battalion. He totaled 12 goals and 36 assists in 61 games with North Bay. He collected three assists in five postseason games as the Battalion was eliminated in the first round by the Brantford Bulldogs. Today we’re going to begin our series of previews looking ahead to the 2026-27 season for the Chicago Blackhawks. We’re breaking the previews up into goalies, defensemen and forwards. And we’ll start in the blue paint with the Hawks’ goaltending situation. There were plenty of holes in the Blackhawks’ performance last year, but there were also areas where we saw good growth and development. I would argue the biggest positive sign last year was the emergence of a legit No. 1 goalie in Chicago who could be a foundational piece to take the entire program to the next level(s). Spencer Knight showed that he’s ready to lead the depth chart and is good enough to win games the Hawks maybe shouldn’t. Having a legit No. 1 goalie is important. Two areas where the Blackhawks can help their goaltenders look better are allowing fewer shots on net and blocking more shots before they get to their netminders. Last year

The Florida Panthers selected forward Vilho Vanhatalo in the sixth round (168th overall) of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft held at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY. This feisty Finn spent the majority of the 2025-26 season anchoring Tappara’s U20 team in the SM-sarja, where he posted 10 goals and nine assists while racking up 43 PIM in 38 games. His impressive performance earned him eight games with the men’s squad in Liiga, where he recorded his first professional assist. Vanhatalo returned to the Under-20 circuit for the postseason and led his team in points with 12 in 13 games played. The most divisive thing within the Philadelphia Flyers fan base is whether or not this current rebuilding plan is going to work. Instead of going with the typical rebuild in the NHL, where a team trades just about everything valuable on their team or any player over the age of 25, to then absolutely suck for at least three or four seasons, draft very high to get elite prospects and then build their new team around that, the Flyers did something much more unorthodox. The Flyers decided to keep their team largely in-tact and the front office led by Danny Briere decided to do more trimming around the edges. There was a fair amount of rebuilding trades — moving Ivan Provorov, trading Sean Walker when the team was in the playoff mix, and the Scott Laughton trade are the obvious ones ̵
