Reinhart, Theodore score as Canada buries three unanswered goals to advance to Olympic gold-medal game -
Milan, Italy- Western Hockey League alumni came in clutch as Canada scored three unanswered goals to down Finland 3-2 in their Olympic semifinal matchup on Friday. It took a clutch powerplay goal from Memorial Cup champion Nathan MacKinnon with 36 seconds left to send the team to the gold medal game. Canada has now pulled off comeback wins in two consecutive matchups with Friday's victory and Wednesday's 4-3 overtime triumph against Czechia. But they also had to do it without the services of Captain and two-time Olympic gold medalist Sidney Crosby, who left the quarterfinal game with a lower-body injury. Special teams played a crucial role in the showdown, as MacKinnon's former Colorado Avalanche teammate Mikko Rantanen struck late in the first period with a powerplay tally. Quick Bites: Sharks take losing streak into Olympic break -
The San Jose Sharks arrived in Denver for their final game before the Olympic break looking to set the recent past aside. After three losses in a row, each of which felt like a lost opportunity to keep pace in the playoff race, the team was in search of something positive to take into the pause. However, an always severe challenge against the league’s best, the Colorado Avalanche, stood in their way. The last time San Jose faced Colorado in Denver, the team had no answers in a 6-0 loss. This time around, the Sharks put up a much better fight, but still fell 4-2 to the Avalanche. What do NHL players really think about Joe Sakic? When you ask the greatest players in hockey history about Joe Sakic, something interesting happens. They pause. They smile. And then they say something you never expected. Because Joe Sakic wasn't just a great hockey player — he was something rarer. A man who made everyone around him better without ever raising his voice, demanding the spotlight, or putting himself above the team. In this video, we went back through decades of interviews, press conferences, locker room moments, and behind-the-scenes stories to find out what NHL players truly said about the man known simply as "Burnaby Joe."
