Last year, the Hawks had one of the top units in the NHL; they were the best in the league before the trade deadline. I think we can safely assume the first two defensemen over the boards on the PK will be Alex Vlasic and Ian Cole this season. But, looking beyond those two, there are some questions. Wyatt Kaiser will likely see an increased role. But who will be the fourth defenseman killing penalties? Last year in Buffalo, Bowen Byram spent almost the same total ice time killing penalties (133:06 — 1:37 per game) as he did on the power play (131:02 — 1:36 per game).
