Prince Albert, Sask. — The 2026 Eastern Conference champion Prince Albert Raiders have added forward Carter Kingerski in a trade with the Tri-City Americans. In return, the Americans acquire a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2030 WHL Prospects Draft. Kingerski, 18, is preparing for his second full season in the league after breaking in with Tri-City in 2025-26. The 5-foot-10, 154-pound forward appeared in 45 contests, logging three goals (including a game-winning goal) and seven assists for 10 points. He made his debut on September 21, 2024, but spent the bulk of the season with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Winnipeg Freeze, where he registered 30 points (12G-18A) in 46 games. Hailing from Headingley, Man., Kingerski was selected by the Americans with the 35th overall pick in the second round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft and won gold for Manitoba at the 2023 WHL Cup. The Detroit Red Wings prospects opened the tournament with an exciting 4-3 win over the Dallas Stars, and Game 1 already gave us plenty to talk about. Today on 7 Minute Wings, I’m breaking down the game and some of the players who immediately caught my attention — including Carter Bear, Jesse Kiiskinen and Theo Rochette. Bear impressed me with his complete 200-foot game, showing that his impact goes well beyond the scoresheet. Kiiskinen delivered a huge power-play goal, while Rochette came through with the dramatic late goal that helped Detroit complete the comeback. And they certainly weren’t the only prospects who stood out. It’s important to remember: this was only Game 1. We don’t want to draw huge conclusions from one prospect tournament game. What a way to open the Prospect Tournament! 🔥 The Detroit Red Wings prospects battled back from a 3-1 third-period deficit to defeat the Dallas Stars prospects 4-3 in an eight-round shootout! Detroit never held a lead during regulation despite heavily outshooting Dallas, but the Wings refused to go away. 🚨 Jesse Kiiskinen opened the scoring for Detroit on the power play, tying the game 1-1 in the second period. 🚨 After Dallas built a 3-1 lead, Noah Dower Nilsson scored on a late third-period power play to pull Detroit within one. 🚨 With the goalie pulled and less than two minutes remaining, Theo Rochette delivered the game-tying goal to force overtime! 🥅 Then came an eight-round shootout, where Kienan Draper scored the ONLY goal to give the Red Wings prospects an incredible 4-3 victory. Calgary, Alta. — Ninety-one Western Hockey League players have been invited to attend 2026-27 NHL rookie camps and showcases across North America. All 23 WHL clubs will be represented. The 2025 WHL Champion Medicine Hat Tigers lead the way with eight players earning invites, including last season's top two scorers and 2026 Pittsburgh Penguins picks Liam and Markus Ruck and incoming Calgary Flames defensive prospect Mace'o Phillips. The 2026 Memorial Cup host Kelowna Rockets, 2026 WHL Championship Series finalist Prince Albert Raiders, Portland Winterhawks and Seattle Thunderbirds are all sending six players to the big league, while the Spokane Chiefs and Calgary Hitmen have five each. His latest came soon after the 18-year-old Russian import arrived in Kamloops ahead of the Blazers training camp, when he joined his new teammates for an afternoon of baseball. It was his first time playing the sport. “It was a great experience,” he said with a beaming smile after the Blazers won their pre-season opener 4-3 in a shootout over the Penticton Vees. “It was so much fun because all the boys were there. I was a pitcher, then I hit the ball. Portland, Ore. – The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club announced today the reassignment of goaltender Cooper Dryden, forward Easton Scott, and forward Cullen Stephenson ahead of the 2026-27 WHL Season. Dryden, of Brandon, Manitoba, will continue his season with the Brandon Wheat Kings U18 AAA team. The netminder was picked 130th overall in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft. Scott, from San Antonio, Texas, will play for the Dallas Stars 16U AAA squad. Scott was taken with the 97th pick in the 5th round of the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft. Stephenson will now play his year with Saskatoon Contacts U18 AAA.
