Dlouhých čtrnáct zápasů NHL čekal na úvodní bod v dresu Vancouveru centr David Kämpf. Dočkal se v pátečním duelu na ledě Islanders, kde otevíral skóre a společně s obráncem Filipem Hronkem (0+2) nakonec slavil výhru 4:1. Mezi střelce se ve stejný den zapsal i nejproduktivnější Čech v soutěži Martin Nečas z Colorada. Dvě asistence bral Radek Faksa z Dallasu, který výsledkem 8:3 potrápil brankářské duo Anaheimu Dostál - Mrázek. Výhru tentokrát nevychytal ani Karel Vejmelka z Utahu.

Za dřinu byl odměněn. Český útočník David Kämpf dal svůj první gól (i bod) v sezoně NHL, kterým hokejistům Vancouveru pomohl k výhře 4:1 na ledě New York Islanders. Dvěma asistencemi přispěl i obránce Filip Hronek. Mezi střelce se zapsal i Martin Nečas, jenž s Coloradem vyhrál 3:2 nad Winnipegem. Poslední představení se naopak absolutně nepovedlo Anaheimu, který prohrál 3:8 s Dallasem. Jedničku Ducks Lukáše Dostála po čtyřech brankách střídal Petr Mrázek, ten však schytal stejný příděl.
