Red Wings Prospects Are Already Turning Heads! | Bear, Kiiskinen & Rochette Shine -
The Detroit Red Wings prospects opened the tournament with an exciting 4-3 win over the Dallas Stars, and Game 1 already gave us plenty to talk about. Today on 7 Minute Wings, I’m breaking down the game and some of the players who immediately caught my attention — including Carter Bear, Jesse Kiiskinen and Theo Rochette. Bear impressed me with his complete 200-foot game, showing that his impact goes well beyond the scoresheet. Kiiskinen delivered a huge power-play goal, while Rochette came through with the dramatic late goal that helped Detroit complete the comeback. And they certainly weren’t the only prospects who stood out. It’s important to remember: this was only Game 1. We don’t want to draw huge conclusions from one prospect tournament game. But after watching this group compete, battle back and find a way to win, it certainly feels like something exciting could be brewing in Detroit’s prospect pool. Who impressed YOU the most? And which Red Wings prospect are you watching close

Red Wings Prospects BEAT Dallas! 🚨 4-3 Comeback & Shootout Win | ALL Detroit Goals -
What a way to open the Prospect Tournament! 🔥 The Detroit Red Wings prospects battled back from a 3-1 third-period deficit to defeat the Dallas Stars prospects 4-3 in an eight-round shootout! Detroit never held a lead during regulation despite heavily outshooting Dallas, but the Wings refused to go away. 🚨 Jesse Kiiskinen opened the scoring for Detroit on the power play, tying the game 1-1 in the second period. 🚨 After Dallas built a 3-1 lead, Noah Dower Nilsson scored on a late third-period power play to pull Detroit within one. 🚨 With the goalie pulled and less than two minutes remaining, Theo Rochette delivered the game-tying goal to force overtime! 🥅 Then came an eight-round shootout, where Kienan Draper scored the ONLY goal to give the Red Wings prospects an incredible 4-3 victory. In this video, I’ve put together ALL THREE Detroit goals plus Draper’s shootout winner from a fantastic opening game of the Prospect Tournament. There were plenty of Red Wings prospects worth wa

New team, new connections: Blazers bonding during pre-season -
By Dave Dormer   Even though he’s lived in North America for the last couple of years chasing his dream of playing pro hockey, Mikhail Cherepanov is still experiencing some cultural firsts. His latest came soon after the 18-year-old Russian import arrived in Kamloops ahead of the Blazers training camp, when he joined his new teammates for an afternoon of baseball. It was his first time playing the sport. “It was a great experience,” he said with a beaming smile after the Blazers won their pre-season opener 4-3 in a shootout over the Penticton Vees. “It was so much fun because all the boys were there. I was a pitcher, then I hit the ball. They tried to explain me all the rules, but I didn’t get it.” Hailing from Yekaterinburg — Russia’s fourth largest city, located 1,600 kilometres east of Moscow in the Ural mountains — Cherepanov played youth hockey there, then moved to New Hampshire, where he played one year of U16 hockey before joining the Mountain Kings in the NAHL last s

2026 Montreal Canadiens Top 25 Under 25: #2 Ivan Demidov -
Introduction Ivan Demidov certainly knew how to make an introduction. Not even a week after touching down in Montreal in the most anticipated athletic air arrival in Canada since Robert Herjavec, Demidov registered his first NHL point, followed by his first NHL goal, within not even a period of his first NHL game. For 2023-24, everything after that was gravy. The real questions would be asked in 2025-26. Could Demidov handle the day-to-day rigours of the NHL — the pace, the schedule, the rhythm, and the grind? Could he handle NHL opposition day in and day out? After getting his feet wet, could Montreal’s latest wunderkind survive and thrive in the deep end? Nineteen goals and 62 points later, questions asked, questions answered.

Clash of the Kingdoms Game 2 Player to Watch: Savin Virk, Victoria Royals -
Victoria, B.C.- Two-time WHL Coach of the Year James Patrick knows just how much the opportunity to defend the league at the Clash of the Kingdom means to his players. "The players are excited," Victoria's bench boss said. "The veteran players have all asked if they could play both games, and unfortunately they can't. But that just shows how excited they are about the opportunity. I think we'll be better for this experience, and we'll also, at the same time, be able to see some players in different situations and know if they're ready to take on that role for our team this year." One of those veterans is freshly minted Royal Savin Virk, who sat in the press box for Game 1. The 6-foot, 185-pound forward joined the team in late August as part of a blockbuster deal that sent projected 2027 first-round NHL Draft pick Eli McKamey to the Tri-City Americans, in addition to a slew of picks on both sides. It's a move that signals Victoria is eyeing a deep playoff run this y

Clash of the Kingdoms Game 2 Player to Watch: Braidy Wassilyn -
Victoria, B.C.- Braidy Wassilyn entered the 2026 NHL Draft with high hopes. The 6-foot, 194-pound winger was ranked 104th among all North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting's final rankings, and he was ready to live out a childhood dream. But the draft came and went without his name being called. Far from giving up, the 18-year-old is turning disappointment into motivation as he prepares for his first full season as a London Knight. "All summer, every day, I was working as hard as I could; that's what I thought about. That feeling," Wassilyn said. "Every time I go on the ice, that's the feeling that's in my heart. It is just, you know, how I felt not getting drafted that day. Just be the best

Mikko Rantanen ja Dallas Stars listalla – neljällä NHL-joukkueella merkittävä etu -
NHL:n palkkakatto tekee laadukkaasta pelaajasyvyydestä entistä tärkeämpää. The Hockey News nostaa neljä joukkuetta, joiden kokoonpanoissa on erityisen paljon leveyttä kauden 2026–27 alla. Colorado Avalanche kuuluu listalle viime kauden vahvan runkosarjan jälkeen. Valeri Nichushkinin lähdöstä huolimatta joukkue korvasi hänet kokeneella Jaden Schwartzilla. Avalanchessa riittää laatua neljään hyökkäysketjuun, puolustukseen sekä maalivahtiosastolle. Toronto Maple Leafs teki kesällä suuria […]

Royals set to host historic clash with London Knights this weekend in Victoria -
Inside the Clash of the Kingdoms: Breaking Down the CHL’s Premier Season Series and Why the NHL Will be Watching Closely. What to Know About the Pre-Season Series Between Two Prospective 2026-27 Canadian Hockey League Contenders Traditional pre-season games rarely attract attention beyond the teams involved. It is an opportunity for player evaluations following Training Camps and coaching and development before games begin to count. However, this September, much of that will not be the case when the London Knights arrive in Victoria for a two-game series, which has been appropriately dubbed the “Clash of the Kingdoms” at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. The series features enough NHL talent, 2027 draft prospects and organizational storylines to make it one of the most intriguing events on the Canadian Hockey League’s schedule this season. From an NHL scouting perspective, it is difficult to find a better matchup anywhere in North Amer

2027 NHL Mock Draft – First Round -
DBTB – Here we go, my fellow Sabre fans…as the school year gets underway, another Draft year has come! Now, I know we’re all focused on things like the Buffalo Sabres replicating last year’s performance, or even exceeding it, and things like Connor Hellebuyck or Kirill Marchenko joining the club. No one is thinking much about the Draft at this point in time. That’s cool.  Still, as we discovered this off-season, one never knows how things will transpire on Draft Day. I certainly never envisioned the Sabres selecting at #4 and at #20 in the first round, but…that’s exactly what happened. So I will continue to follow these young prospects, really more for my own entertainment, but also for you, DBTB, in the event you have a hankering for some junior hockey or are, like Casey Kasem before you, keeping your feet on the ground while reaching for (future) stars!  And while I’m most certainly an amateur when it comes to player assessment and prospec

Red Wings GM by Monday? Scott White Emerges + Is $8M Enough for Edvinsson? -
The Detroit Red Wings may finally be closing in on their next general manager — and Scott White is a name that really stands out to me. Octopus Thrower recently updated its look at Detroit’s GM search with four potential candidates. White, currently Assistant GM of the Dallas Stars and GM of the AHL’s Texas Stars, has an intriguing résumé. His success within the Stars organization is one thing, but there could be another interesting connection: Dallas has been mentioned as one of Dylan Larkin’s preferred destinations. Could White’s relationships in Dallas potentially help Detroit maximize the return if a Larkin trade eventually happens? And then there’s Simon Edvinsson. Max Bultman of The Athletic reports that Detroit would like to get Edvinsson signed to a long-term contract before training camp, potentially somewhere around $8 million AAV. But in today’s rapidly changing NHL contract market… is $8 million actually going to get it done? Training camp is only about two weeks away, and
