Why NHL Players Were TERRIFIED Of Chris Chelios -
He wasn't the biggest. He wasn't the fastest. But for 26 seasons, Chris Chelios was the one name that made grown men nervous. This is the story of the most feared defenseman in NHL history — a player so physically and mentally dominant that opponents didn't just respect him… they dreaded him. From his brutal early years with the Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Blackhawks, to terrorizing the league well into his 40s with the Detroit Red Wings — Chelios built a reputation no one in the NHL wanted to test. In 27 years, Chelios played 1,651 games — the most of any defenseman in NHL history. He won 3 Stanley Cups, 3 Norris Trophies, and made 11 All-Star appearances. But the numbers don't tell the real story. The real story is what happened every time Chelios stepped on the ice — and what players said about him when the cameras weren't rolling. UshockeyhallElite Prospects Why did veterans refuse to make eye contact with him? Why did rookies change their game just to avoid crossing his path? A

Why the Ducks shouldn’t match the Flyers’ Leo Carlsson offer sheet -
The second week of July is usually a quieter one across the NHL. The draft is over. The free agent frenzy of July 1 is in the rearview mirror, with just a few veteran stragglers taking their time to decide on their next (or final) stop. All of that is still the case this year, but Danny Briere and the Philadelphia Flyers kept the frenzy going by tendering a five-year, $90 million offer sheet to Anaheim Ducks restricted free agent Leo Carlsson. The 21-year-old center was one of a few Ducks RFAs, and Briere saw an opportunity for perhaps a little payback for the Cutter Gauthier trade, but more so a prime chance to land a franchise forward. The Flyers and Ducks have delayed their trips to the cottage, as have some other GMs around the league, as they await Pat Verbeek’s decis

The Red Wings Waited on Edvinsson. Here's What It Cost Them. -
The Red Wings had a window to extend Simon Edvinsson at around $8M AAV. They didn't take it. Now Bowen Byram has signed for $12.5M. Pavel Mintyukov locked in at $7.2M per year. The market has officially moved — and Detroit is going to pay more because they waited. In this episode of 7 Minute Wings, I break down exactly what these two deals mean for Edvinsson's RFA negotiation, where the floor and ceiling now sit, and what the Red Wings should realistically expect to pay to keep their best young defenseman. 📊 What I cover: • How Byram and Mintyukov bracket Edvinsson's value from both ends • The $1.2M Mintyukov premium — Anaheim paid more than 1 million more than the best projections • Edvinsson's 2024-25 stats vs. his RFA peers — does the data justify top dollar? • My prediction for what Detroit actually pays The window to get a bargain has closed. Now comes the real negotiation. ⬇️ What do YOU think Edvinsson signs for? Drop your number in the comments. #DetroitRedWings #SimonEdvinss

Flyers’ offer sheet to Anaheim’s Leo Carlsson has reshaped NHL’s contract landscape -
It was done only a handful of times. And while rarely successful, each time it made headlines. However, most believed the 32 National Hockey League general managers would play nice in the sandbox, adhering to some unexplained or unwritten decorum that they would treat each other fairly and respectfully. And certainly not try to use any leverage they might have in order to strongarm any of their compatriots. You just didn’t do that, right? After all, what would people say? Well, apparently, Philadelphia Flyers general manager Danny Briere didn’t get the message last week. And he clearly doesn’t give a toss. Briere might be small in stature, but he is now looking like a game-changing executive, the likes of which the NHL hasn’t seen since the salary cup era was introd

The Flyers’ Stanley Cup window opens if they land Leo Carlsson -
The franchise has been the runner up the last six times they vied for a Stanley Cup. Their goaltender of the ’80s died tragically. In the 2000s, the Flyers were contenders a few times, but eventually lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champions. Then there was the Shea Weber offer sheet, and that didn’t materialize. Then the 2010 playoffs and Patrick Kane. Then Pronger’s injury which ended things quickly. In short, the Flyers and their fanbase are used to disappointment, that or at least not getting too excited when there’s a chance for good news to arrive. So, while news Friday broke concer
