The story of the night, though, belonged to Marco Kasper, who finally snapped a 37-game goal drought with an empty-net goal. Yes, it was an empty-netter — and yes, there will be skepticism — but it was a moment he badly needed. Lucas Raymond finished the night with three assists, and one of them stood out. On Kasper’s empty-net goal, Raymond easily could have taken the shot himself. Instead, he made the extra pass. It felt like he knew exactly what Kasper needed in that moment. Call me sentimental, but seeing a star player give up a goal to help a struggling teammate is something you rarely see in sports anymore.
