Description Steve Yzerman has reportedly asked the Dallas Stars for Wyatt Johnston in exchange for Dylan Larkin, and while many fans will view that as an unrealistic request, I think it sends a very clear message. After Dylan Larkin reportedly expanded his trade list to include the Dallas Stars, many believed negotiations could finally move forward. Instead, Detroit's asking price immediately became a major obstacle. Wyatt Johnston is younger, under team control, and has already produced a higher offensive ceiling than Larkin, making him an unlikely piece for Dallas to move. So why make the ask? In this video, I discuss what I believe Steve Yzerman is trying to communicate. The Red Wings aren't looking to make a trade simply because one has been requested.
