Winnipeg Jets Organizational Depth Chart -
While I covered some of the Winnipeg Jets new additions in Arctic Ice Hockey’s previous article (A Look at Winnipeg’s Free Agent Signings – Arctic Ice Hockey), I did end up overlooking some of the players that have joined the True North franchise. That was quickly brought to my attention by the person I am trying to bring on as a new AIH writer. It seems that our newest member, Mullayo, is rather fond of the work of GM Kevin Cheveldayoff on the blueline….as I quickly received an email explaining why the impact goes beyond just adding the one d-man I covered, Mario Ferraro, to the mix. Since I am still waiting to hear back from the guy running our little website and Mullayo can’t express his opinions in his own article yet….I thought I would share his thoughts in this one as a sort of introduction t

Thorburn's Blues Promotion Explains Jets Alumni Absence -
A front-office promotion in St. Louis has sidelined the fan-favorite forward from Winnipeg’s upcoming alumni festivities as he takes the reins of the Blues' player development. Thorburn's Blues Promotion Explains Jets Alumni Absence Carter BrooksTue, July 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. UTC·2 min readChris Thorburn may not be taking part in the Winnipeg Jets' expanding alumni roster after all. A recent announcement from the St. Louis Blues appears to explain why. After initially being included on the roster for Winnipeg's alumni game vs. Montreal ahead of the 2026 Heritage Classic this October when the Jets unveiled their growing list of alumni participants earlier this offseason, Thorburn's name has later been removed. Checking in on San Jose’s RFAs and UFAs -
Heading into free agency, the San Jose Sharks had a lot of restricted free agents and unrestricted free agents that General Manager Mike Grier had to re-sign to new contracts or allow to explore free agency. Egor Afanasyev, Forward Afanasyev never really got a shot with the Sharks and as such, he was allowed to walk into free agency this summer. It looks like there were no NHL teams looking to sign him, so, according to Tony Androck of Inside AHL Hockey, Afanasyev is headed back to the KHL. A Look at Winnipeg’s Free Agent Signings -
Here we are, less than a week into the National Hockey League’s Free Agency period. Typically this is a part of the league’s calendar that Winnipeg Jets’ fans can turn off their phones and step away from the latest breaking news. With the limited pull our little northern city has with the players in the league, GM Kevin Cheveldayoff tends to hear a lot of “no’s” when he contacts the agents for the upper echelon of unrestricted free agents (UFAs) on July 1st. The Jets’ faithful are used to the team having to filter through the “bargain bin” before they make any additions in late July or August. While this 2026 UFA class is far from bursting with promise, Winnipeg bucked the trend this summer and for the first time since 2017 & 2019, our club was able to add at least two players in the first week of free agency. Still with a couple of days to work with before the week concludes, Che
