What sportsbooks think of the Flyers’ Metropolitan Division chances in 2026-27 -
Nobody rushed for the exits at Xfinity Mobile Arena on April 29. Cam York’s shot found a gap through traffic 2:28 into overtime in Game 6 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and for a few minutes afterward, nobody in that building seemed to want the night to end. Five years. Five straight springs of watching someone else play meaningful hockey in April while the Flyers cleaned out their lockers early, while a fan base that used to define itself by playoff hockey learned to define itself by its absence instead. Then Carolina happened, and it happened fast. The East’s No. 1 seed went 3-0-1 against Philly in the regular season, and the May rematch with very real stakes on the line pr

Blue Line Mentors, Reconsidering the 2011 Draft, Isles’ Jerseys, and Other Blackhawks Bullets -
We’ve talked a lot about the Blackhawks’ blue line over the past few weeks here. The front office and coaches have talked about building the team from the back forward. Kyle Davidson used a couple first-round picks on Sam Rinzel and then Artyom Levshunov to be big pieces on the back, but the group was so young after the trade deadline there were viable concerns about the makeup. Which is why Davidson added Bowen Byram and Ian Cole this summer. In those two, the Blackhawks added unique skills to their defensive group and championship experience; Byram (one) and Cole (two) have ring(s) at home. Blackhawks Trade Tree(s) Tuesday: From Andrew Shaw to Bowen Byram -
When the Chicago Blackhawks drafted an undersized, overage Andrew Shaw in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL Draft, there wasn’t a lot of thought about him becoming an important part of two Stanley Cup championship teams and a fan favorite. You usually don’t find those guys falling to the 139th overall selection. But Shaw became that guy, authoring some iconic moments that included a header and loving shin pads. He emerged as a guy the Blackhawks needed at a time when they didn’t have a lot coming up thru the organization to help sustain their core. Shaw was eventually traded to the Canadiens, and then he became one of the guys who was brought back to the organization for a second run by Stan Bowman. That didn’t play out as well as anyone h
