Silvertips concede in Memorial Cup final to OHL’s Kitchener Rangers -
Kelowna, B.C.- A historic season for one of the WHL's most consistent clubs has come to an end. After setting a franchise record for wins (57), collecting a second-straight regular season title and the club's first WHL Championship, the Everett Silvertips fell 6-2 to the Kitchener Rangers in the Memorial Cup Final. "We rode this train as long as we could," 2026 WHL Coach of the Year Steve Hamilton said. "We played 91 games and never lost back-to-back. I don't know if any other teams can say that. Incredibly proud of our group. I mean, we're WHL champions. This is the greatest team in Everett Silvertips history." NHL Draft-eligible Matias Vanhanen (NHL CSS: 54) and Landon DuPont, the WHL's first exceptional-status defenceman, were also named to the 2026 Memorial Cup All-Star Team. Everett reached the title match in its tournament debut, despite having the fewest NHL prospects (five) of any of the four participating teams. Vanhanen and Detroit Red Wings first-round

2026 Memorial Cup Head to Head: One more game for tournament-leading scorers Vanhanen, Pridham -
Kelowna, B.C.- No matter how you slice it, history will be made in the 2026 Memorial Cup Final on Sunday afternoon. The Everett Silvertips will fight to become the 11th team in CHL history to win junior hockey's top prize in its tournament debut, while the OHL Champion Kitchener Rangers are off to the big dance for a record seventh time. With the hardest trophy to win in hockey on the line, there's no better time to spotlight each team's top scorer. In less than 24 hours, NHL Draft-eligible Matias Vanhanen will be on a flight to Buffalo to take part in the 2026 NHL Combine. But first, he's hoping for one more flash of brilliance in Kelowna. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound winger leads all skaters with seven points (3G-4A) at the tournament, and hasn't been held off the scoresheet yet. Vanhanen, 18, even scored on the power play to get Everett on the board in an eventual 6-2 loss to the Rangers in round-robin action last Monday. https://twitter.com/TheWHL/status/2059087

2026 Memorial Cup Final Player to Watch: Landon DuPont, Everett Silvertips -
Kelowna, B.C.- Landon DuPont is a guy built for the spotlight. The beams fuelled by his hockey peers, fans, pundits and NHL brass will burn brighter than ever as the freshly-turned 17-year-old hits the ice in the Memorial Cup Final with the Everett Silvertips on Sunday. "No butterflies, just excitement," DuPont said of the opportunity ahead. "It's cool playing at such a stage like this in such a big tournament like this. I remember being five up until last year, just watching the Memorial Cup, wishing I could play there one day. Being here, it's truly surreal." The WHL's first exceptional-status defender will need to bring his 'A' game against the OHL Champion Kitchener Rangers, who are competing in their CHL-record seventh Memorial Cup title match. The Blueshirts dished the Silvertips a 6-2 loss in round-robin play, with DuPont picking up a lone assist on a powerplay goal. For a team that tallied 57 regular-season victories and went 16-1-1 in the WHL Playoffs, Ev

DuPont scores twice in return, Silvertips rout Sagueneens 6-1 to advance to 2026 Memorial Cup Final -
Kelowna, B.C.- The Everett Silvertips will play for the Memorial Cup in the club's first-ever appearance at the tournament. Projected top 2027 NHL Draft pick Landon DuPont scored twice in his return to the lineup to seal a 6-1 win, while netminder Anders Miller denied 25 of 26 opportunities for a .962 save percentage. "In a game like this when you win or go home," DuPont said postgame. "No guy in that room wanted to go home. I think we did a good job showing up and just mentally... It's not hard getting up from your nap and heading to this game. It's pretty cool." As the teams settled into a nervy first period, alternate captain Jaxsin Vaughan drew first blood as the 'Tips capitalized on a costly Chicoutimi turnover. Lukas Kaplan stole the puck inside the Sagueneens blueline and immediately put it up to a lone Vaughan for a point-blank shot in the slot that was destined for the top corner. https://twitter.com/TheWHL/status/2060535392949194867 Utah Mammoth Thomas

2026 Memorial Cup Semi-Final Player to Watch: Matias Vanhanen, Everett Silvertips -
Kelowna, B.C.- In December of 2025, Silvertips Head Coach Steve Hamilton knew it was time for a talk with rookie forward Matias Vanhanen. Heading into the holiday break, the youngster had shown tremendous ability in his first season of hockey in North America, but his point totals were looking a little lopsided with seven goals and 37 assists. "We were just noticing early on- powerplays, especially- he was reluctant to shoot," Hamilton explained. "Everybody does their homework and does the pre-scout, and suddenly they're just taking away his passing options, and then as soon as he started to turn the corner and go downhill looking to shoot as well, now you can't just assume that he's passing, and it's made him even more valuable, more dangerous on the ice. He has a heck of a shot, you know. It's just trusting it. He's got all the weapons he needs. I think a lot of it is just mindset, too. As soon as you become a shooter, as well as the playmaker that he is, you're a

While netminders Anders Miller and Lucas Beckman have one opportunity, they'll surely face more than one shot in the 2026 Memorial Cup Semifinal on Friday night. It's all about the goaltenders with a berth in the title match against the Kitchener Rangers on the line. Miller is 2-1-0 at the tournament and coming off a 28-save shutout against the Kelowna Rockets in round-robin action. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound puckstopper from Anchorage, Alaska, has posted a 3.00 goals-against average and .889 save percentage at the tournament. "He's been one of our key players on the team," Silvertips alternate captain Carter Bear said. "He's always there for us in the net. Everyone trusts him in the net, and whenever he needs to make a big save, we always believe in him." https://twitter.com/TheWHL/status/2058399345817620920 On the fl

2026 NHL Entry Draft – T McGee’s Seven Round Mock -
We’re under a month away from the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, and it’s time to take a peek at some of the players that could fall to the Buffalo Sabres. Here’s a bumper seven-rounder from T McGee for your weekend reading. DBTB – A Seven Round Mock Draft? In this economy? Actually, I can’t stand that line, so let’s just say it was originally a Five Rounder but with inflation, it’s now Seven. Not that anyone noticed. No, all people want to talk about is the Sabres breaking the playoff drought…the Sabres winning a playoff series…almost winning a second one? Losing in OT in Game 7? That sounds about right. Doesn’t anyone care about the children? Seriously though, I appreciate that maybe, maybe, the days of worrying for weeks and months about who the Sabres will draft is past.
