2026 NHL Draft: The case for Ivar Stenberg -
Since coming to San Jose to helm the Sharks, General Manager Mike Grier has never wavered from his promise of drafting the best player available (BPA). He’s always said that he will draft the BPA and no matter what the noise around him is, he’s stuck to that promise. It happened last season when the Sharks selected Michael Misa despite having a need for a defenseman and even more so when, with the 30th overall pick, the team selected goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen because he was next up on the team’s internal list of best players available. Which brings us to this year’s draft, where Grier has again said that he will draft the BPA, and if that’s the case, most people are saying that if the Toronto Maple Leafs take Gavin McKenna as expected, then the BPA at number two will be Ivar Stenberg from Sweden. PACK MENTALITY: CAIGE STERZER  -
HARTFORD, CT – The 2025-26 season will be one that lives in the memory of Caige Sterzer for the rest of his life. It’s the season where the Kimberley, BC, native achieved a lifelong dream. After four seasons of college hockey at both Lindenwood University and the University of St. Thomas, Sterzer went pro, signing a one-year contract with the Wolf Pack for the 2026-27 season. He came to the Connecticut capital immediately, inking an amateur tryout agreement to get his feet wet in the world of professional hockey. It was a quick process for the forward, who immediately turned from the disappointment of falling just short of the NCAA tournament to the bliss of becoming a professional hockey player. “It was a pretty quick process after the season ended,” Sterzer said of the decision to sign with the Wolf Pack. “We made

He Was The Fastest Player Ever, Then His Knees Gave Out (Pavel Bure) -
Pavel Bure was once the fastest player hockey had ever seen. They called him The Russian Rocket — and for good reason. In his prime, Bure didn’t just skate past defenders… he made the ice look too small for him. But behind the speed, the goals, the highlight reels, and the legend, Pavel Bure’s body was already breaking down. In this video, we look back at the rise and heartbreaking fall of one of the most explosive players in NHL history. From his early years in Moscow and his escape from the Soviet hockey system, to becoming the face of the Vancouver Canucks, scoring back-to-back 60-goal seasons, carrying Vancouver to the 1994 Stanley Cup Final, and later making an unbelievable comeback with the Florida Panthers. Then came the injuries. The torn ACL. The failed knee reconstruction. The comeback nobody expected. The New York Rangers years. The final collapse. And the quiet retirement of a player who should’ve had so much more time. Pavel Bure finished his NHL career with 437 goals

2026 season review Barclay Goodrow: Is veteran presence enough? -
When Barclay Goodrow entered the offseason after the Sharks’ dismal ending to the 2024-25 season, he talked about getting healthy. For too many seasons in a row, he had spent April, May and sometimes even June battling in the postseason despite injuries, bumps and bruises. He wanted last summer to be different. With the Sharks not even close to sniffing the playoffs, he knew he finally had the opportunity to spend some time truly healing. When he returned to training camp in the fall, the then-32-year-old looked healthier than he had been in a while. There was some pep in his step as they say and he was ready to play. 2026 season review Alex Wennberg: Doing the little things right -
When the San Jose Sharks signed Alex Wennberg on the first day of free agency in 2024, the team was hoping the then-29-year-old center might be able to help usher in a new era of Sharks hockey. It honestly could not have gone any better. What the Sharks got out of Wennberg in these last two years has been a leader on and off the ice. The forward has shown young players like Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith and Collin Graf how to play the right way. He and his family have been pillars in the San Jose community, and they have offered a second home to young Shark William Eklund in a sport that can probably feel isolating at times. Wennberg’s addition to the roster has been invaluable, which is likely why General Manager Mike Grier made it a priority to re-sign the forward in the middle of this season. Wennberg’s 2025-26 production Wennberg has rewarded the Sharks with plenty of goals to celebrate, setting a career mark.

The NHL Buried This Player's Brain Scan for Years -
Derek Boogaard was one of the most feared enforcers in NHL history. At 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds, he wasn’t sent onto the ice to score goals. He was sent there to fight, protect teammates, intimidate opponents, and absorb the kind of damage most players never had to carry. But years after the chants, the fights, the highlight reels, and the reputation, the most disturbing part of Derek Boogaard’s story wasn’t what happened on the ice. It was what happened after. This is the story of the NHL enforcer whose brain scan revealed the cost of a job hockey once celebrated. Derek Boogaard played 277 NHL games, scored only three goals, and became famous for something far more brutal: fighting. Over his career, he was involved in 174 fights. Behind the scenes, his body was breaking down, his pain was growing, and the prescriptions kept coming. During one season, Boogaard received 1,021 pills, 25 prescriptions, and medication from multiple doctors. After years of concussions, pain, and punishme
