The Best of Olympic Hockey Rivals, Canada and the USA -
Before the puck drops for Team Canada at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, let’s look at one of the best rivalries in all of sports, Canada versus Team USA, men’s ice hockey style. This is one of the great geographic rivalries, that has flowed over into competition, and for our story here, hockey. Even though America greatly outnumbers Canada in total population, some 342 million to 41.5 million, Canada manages to maintain a slight edge in ice hockey total player registration statistics, 603,000 to 577,000. What is it they say, it isn’t the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. So join with us, as we chronicle through one of the greatest rivalries, ever. T

Derek Stepan on Sochi, T.J. Oshie Shootout & 2026 Games | Milan Games Interview Series -
On this episode of the DFO Milan Games Interview Series, Jonny Lazarus sits down with former U.S. Olympian and longtime NHL centre Derek Stepan to relive his experience representing Team USA at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Stepan, a key part of the New York Rangers during that era, shares his journey as the extra forward on the roster, finding out about his selection while watching the Winter Classic announcement in Florida, and getting his one and only game action against Slovenia. He opens up about the thrill of being in the Olympic Village, rooming with John Carlson, practising against elite players, the unique perspective of soaking in the experience from the sidelines, and the legendary T.J. Oshie shootout heroics against Russia that he watched up close with Jimmy Howard. Stepan also reflects on the lighter side of Sochi—despite early security concerns—and the heartwarming story of adopting his dog Jake from the stray pups in Russia, thanks to David Backes and his wife. Red Wings Trade Target? Trochek Could Be a PERFECT Fit in Detroit -
The New York Rangers have reportedly made Vincent Trochek available, and while this is still speculative… the fit in Detroit feels real. Trochek is currently a 2nd line centerman, and for the same cap hit as Andrew Copp, the Red Wings could potentially add a player with more offensive upside, a strong two-way game, and the kind of playoff-style edge Detroit has been missing down the middle. If Steve Yzerman is serious about upgrading the roster for a playoff push, Trochek checks a lot of boxes — especially if Detroit wants to roll a deeper center group with Dylan Larkin, Andrew Copp, and Vincent Trochek in the top 9. But the big question (as always) is price. Trochek also controls part of his destiny with a 12-team no trade list, and Detroit would likely need to move somebody out — possibly a player like J.T. Compher — to make the fit work cleanly. So is this a realistic move? And if it is… what would the Rangers demand in return? Drop your thoughts below: Would YOU trade for Vincent T
