A lot of questions recently in the comments here and on social media about the future of Kevin Korchinski with the Blackhawks, so a question from me: what happens if he out-performs Sam Rinzel in training camp? I don’t think that’s a crazy potential scenario; it could happen. Ian Cole was brought in because he has experience playing both sides, and Korchinski spent a fair amount of time on the right side in Rockford last year. I’ll go a step further: if Rinzel spends some time in Rockford this coming season, I wouldn’t be overwhelmingly disappointed and I wouldn’t consider that a career-ending, trajectory-ruining move for the player or the organization. For all of the reasons I have said Korchinski isn’t a finished product — Rinzel isn’t, either. Also: Rinzel can go to the AHL without requiring waivers; Korchinski (and Ethan Del Mastro) need to c

Carson Bjarnason One of the winningest Wheat Kings netminders of all time has traded major junior for the pro ranks. Six-foot-4, 207-pound Carson Bjarnason took on a 1B role with the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2025-26, going 14-11-4 with a 3.43 goals-against average and a .877 save percentage. One of his finest efforts came in a 35-save 6-2 win over the Bridgeport Islanders on November 5.
