McDavid And Draisaitl Lead The Oilers To A Win In Toronto -
from Mark Spector of Sportsnet,Death by McDrai. With a fresh new goalie in their net, the Edmonton Oilers buried the Toronto Maple Leafs the way they’ve clobbered so many opponents over the years: with a pair of three-point nights — and general domination — by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in a 6-3 win on Saturday.McDavid opened the scoring with a highlight-reel rush, and had his three points before the 40-minute mark. Draisaitl took over late, notching three primary assists in a 2:26 span wrapped around the second intermission, turning a 2-2 nail-biter into a 5-2 blowout.“You're happy you're on the right side of it,” said goalie Tristan Jarry, who was excellent in his maiden start as an Oiler. “I've been on the wrong side of that a lot.”“When you have (the) two best players in the world, they can take over games,” said Zach Hyman. “Good for us.”There was a lot to get to in a game where Jarry (25 saves) and defenceman Sp

Hockey Talk On Sunday Morning -
from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,- Last week in this spot, I reported that the NHL Broadcasters’ Association had made progress and changed its Hall of Fame rules to allow hosts such as James Duthie and Dave Hodge, for example, to be eligible for the Foster Hewitt Award. That information came to me directly from Association president Chuck Kaiton. Turns out, Kaiton was premature with his own announcement. The matter of including hosts on the Hall of Fame ballot has yet to be voted on and approved by the broadcasters themselves and may not be approved. Here’s what I suggest: Any current or past NHL broadcaster who is against national hosts being part of the Foster Hewitt Award should have to declare so publicly. We in the media are always asking for transparency in voting. How about some transparency here from protective broadcasters who are bypassing some of the best in the business for their most prestigious honour- Coach of the half-year candida
