Memorial Cup host Rockets extinguish Blazers to advance to second round of the 2026 WHL Playoffs -
The Kelowna Rockets are at cruising altitude after dousing the Kamloops Blazers in Round One of the 2026 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien. Kelowna completed a first-round sweep with a 6-2 victory in Game 4 on Wednesday night. Los Angeles Kings prospect Vojtech Cihar, the reigning WHL Rookie of the Month, scored twice and Dawson Gerwing recorded the game-winning goal to boost the Rockets. Between the pipes, 2026 NHL Draft-eligible netminder Harrison Boettiger made 31 saves to backstop Kelowna. Edmonton Oilers prospect Tommy Lafreniere opened the scoring, giving Kamloops a 1-0 lead 2:04 into the first period. But it was all Kelowna there on out. The Rockets scored five unanswered goals to take a stranglehold on the game. Lafreniere found the back of the net one more time midway through the third period, but it was too little, too late for the Blazers. Iginla and Cihar have been the story of Round One, combining for 11 goals. In Game 1, Cihar's first playoff goal gave the Rockets a
