Introduction The expectation was that there would be no new first-rounder in the Top 25 Under 25 after the Montreal Canadiens went to the Eastern Conference Final in the spring. We’d seen Kent Hughes deal two picks from the opening round the previous year to acquire Noah Dobson, and there were various rumours and reports of the general manager trying to land a top-six forward leading up to the draft, and even into the trade deadline.
