A No. 1 Ranking! Donato’s Value, Boisvert Boxing, Frondell BTS, and Other Blackhawks Bullets -
Let’s open our Tuesday by talking a little about one of the Blackhawks’ forwards who hasn’t been talked about much this offseason: Ryan Donato. There have been a lot of fans pointing to his scoring dropping from his career-best 31 goals to 15 — more in line with his career averages — last year as a negative in the Blackhawks’ offense. He spent the biggest portion of his even strength ice time (459:43) with Ilya Mikheyev last year. He also skated 244:00 with Jason Dickinson. Behind those two? Donato skated between 100-200 minutes with six different Blackhawks forwards. Connor Bedard (72:21) was not among those six. The

Perception vs. Reality, Fantasy Keepers, Pavelski Joins the Badgers, and Other Blackhawks Bullets -
Let’s open our Friday with some more discussion about the current Blackhawks issue of perception vs. reality. Yesterday, I shared my thoughts on the league-wide front office confidence poll at The Athletic. In that, I was fairly critical of the macro discourse surrounding the franchise; the Hawks are far from a rudderless ship, though many national/league-wide writers paint it as such. In thinking about the results of that poll, I was mindful of another poll at the same outlet. One bold prediction for each Flyer in 2026-27 -
With the countdown to the season opener less than six weeks away, and training camp less than a month from starting, it’s a good time to see what might be in the cards for each Flyer on the roster for the 2026-27 season. But let’s push the envelop a bit, and set the bar a little higher than usual. Here then is one bold prediction for each Flyers player regarding the upcoming 84-game season. Some might be a bit lofty. Friday Florida Panthers Offseason Caterwaul -
We’re still in the midst of the hockey dog days of August, however, there were a smattering of interesting Florida Panthers tidbits on the interweb worth checking out. In The Athletic’s Ranking the best NHL players and prospects under 23 article, Cats forwards Sandis Vilmanis (ranked 133rd) and Simas Ignatavicius (ranked 138th) were placed in Tier 6 (Middle of the lineup player). Corey Pronman had this to say about Florida’s top two prospects: Vilmanis had a very positive season. He was quite good in the AHL and with Latvia’s senior team, and got extended time with Florida. He’s a fast, competitive winger who contributes at both ends of the ice. He’s not overly physical, but Vilmanis wins a lot of puck battles and always seems to be around the play. He has good hands, and while not overly creative, he can create chance
