Mario Lemieux killing penalties -
Doesn’t get much better than this on a summer Sunday to go back and watch some old Mario Lemieux highlights. Lemieux was a menace of the likes that may never be seen again. In 1988-89, Lemieux scored an NHL record 13 shorthanded goals in a single season. He had 10 the prior year and would […]

Ville Koivunen teki historiaa – 32 miljoonan sopimus voi jäädä NHL:n viimeiseksi lajissaan -
Ville Koivunen saattaa olla NHL:n kahdeksanvuotisten sopimusten aikakauden viimeinen pelaaja. Pittsburgh Penguinsin suomalaislaituri solmi kesällä kahdeksan vuoden jatkosopimuksen, jonka vuosipalkka on neljä miljoonaa dollaria.

Oliko Ville Koivunen viimeinen? – yksi aikakausi päättymässä NHL:ssä -
Ville Koivunen saattaa olla NHL:n viimeisen kahdeksan vuoden sopimuksen tehnyt pelaaja. Pittsburgh Penguins kiinnitti suomalaisen elokuun alussa kahdeksaksi vuodeksi 32 miljoonalla dollarilla. Koivusen sopimus on siksi erityisen kiinnostava. Hänestä tuli […]

Check out TSN’s Have we seen the last eight-year deal in the NHL? article for more. The Montreal Canadiens signed restricted free agent forward Sasha Pastujov to a one-year, two-year contract worth $850K. Pastujov was acquired by the Canadiens from the Anaheim Ducks on July 27. Blackhawks History: Expansion Draft Losses -
With the NHL continuing to talk about expansion, the Blackhawks might need to start considering who they might protect in a future expansion draft. As talks progress around potential ownership groups in Texas and potentially Atlanta, Arizona or Quebec, the Blackhawks are still trying to build the core of a competitive team. That won’t make things easy if/when the time comes to decide which players are deemed “untouchable.” Which brings us to today’s Blackhawks history lesson. Since the Gary Bettman-led NHL started to aggressively expand 35 years ago, the Blackhawks have been forced to make similar choices. There have been some tough decisions made. And, in one instance, there was a crazy game played with a goaltender in net for Chicago who wouldn’t appear in another NHL game. Going all the way back to the Sharks joining the NHL in 1991, here’s the Blackhawks’ history of losing players to NHL expansion.
