2025 player review Timothy Liljegren: Good supporting cast -
Since trading away both Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson, the San Jose Sharks have needed a solid upgrade on the right side of the team’s blueline. The Sharks had hoped to get it in 2024, when it added Jack Thompson, a right-shot defenseman who couldn’t seem to break through in Tampa Bay. But Thompson didn’t give the team the offensive thrust it was looking for, so, on Oct. 30, 2024, the Sharks added another right-shot defenseman looking for more of an opportunity, trading Matt Benning and a couple of picks to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Timothy Liljegren. Liljegren’s 2024-25 production When Liljegren arrived in San Jose, he appeared to be a young defenseman who was also a victim of a team that was simply too deep on the blueline. Toronto had only played him in one game that season, and it was clear that in a different situation, he could develop more.

My Final Top 50 OHL Players for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft - Part 2: 20-1 -
The second and final part of my 2025 rankings release. It was certainly great to see the OHL return to the forefront of draft coverage this year with an extremely strong crop. I think all the guys in my top ten have a chance of being first round selections (even if it's unlikely that all ten are). Here's my Top 20:1. Matthew Schaefer - Defense - Erie OttersNo slight meant to Michael Misa, because he's a terrific player in his own right, but Schaefer is my clear number one. He's one of my favourite prospects that have come through the OHL in my two decades of covering the league. I have no doubts that he will work towards being one of the top defenseman in the NHL; a building block for whatever team selects him. And no one deserves this success more than Schaefer after everything he's gone through. Resiliency is something that is needed as a pro and he has that. He's not only a

NHL’s “let them play” playoffs are spoiling the product -
There’s been a festering undercurrent surround the NHL’s post-season for a long time now. Hockey fans are extremely tribal in the belief that no sport can compare to the intensity of the National Hockey League’s playoffs. While the intensity is palpable from the first round to the Stanley Cup Final, and emotions ride high for highly engaged fans, the fact of the matter is that the quality of hockey being played in the NHL’s playoffs is dropping. Sometimes, it takes someone who isn’t an all-in hockey person to point out how out of control things can get. James Dator from SB Nation

My Final Top 50 OHL Players for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft - Part 1: 50-21 -
The first part of my rankings release for the 2025 NHL Draft. For those that have been following my work for years, I'm condensing down to only two parts for this. Part one includes the players ranked 21 through 50. Part two will include the players in my top 20.Just for clarification, for my top 50 ranking, I haven't included any players eligible for draft re-entry, such as Kristian Epperson. This has been consistent all the way through my lists. Instead, I did a list of the top 10 draft re-entries, which can be found here. Also for clarification, this list is MY list of the top 50 OHL prospects, as if I were drafting for my own team. In other words, this isn't a list of where I THINK or believe players will go, but a ranking of my own opinion on the top players eligible for this draft based on my

T. McGee’s Mock NHL Draft -

NHL Short Notes -
* The opening 20 minutes of the Stanley Cup Final rematch between the Oilers and Panthers saw Leon Draisaitl score the fastest opening goal of a Final in nearly 50 years, Sam Bennett net a franchise record-tying tally and Brad Marchand match the highest career goal total among active players in the Final. From there, the drama only intensified as the clubs battled for nearly 80 minutes before Draisaitl capped a multi-goal rally with a record-tying overtime goal to give the Oilers a 1-0 series lead. * All that came in front of a sold-out crowd of 18,347 in Edmonton, which hit a decibel reading of 113.6 when welcoming their team onto the ice for Game 1 – the first Stanley Cup Final opener in front of fans in Canada since 2011. * Earlier Wednesday, the NHLPA unveiled that Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov was voted by players as the
