After watching the first round from the sidelines, GM Bill Guerin remains aggressive, hunting for roster improvements as the Wild transition to a pivotal second day. Wild Stay Quiet On Draft's Opening Night, But Bill Guerin Says 'Tomorrow's A New Day' Dylan LoucksSat, June 27, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. UTC·2 min readThe Minnesota Wild didn't make any headlines during the opening night of the 2026 NHL Draft, but General Manager Bill Guerin made it clear the team isn't done looking for ways to improve its roster. Minnesota entered Friday night without a first-round pick after trading it to the Vancouver Canucks as part of last season's blockbuster deal for star defenseman Quinn Hughes. As a result, the Wild watched all 32 first-round selections from the sidelines. Guerin’s biggest move came in December when he swung a blockbuster trade for star defenseman Hughes, giving Minnesota the elite No. 1 defenseman it had been searching for. When asked after the first round whether there

Speculation had recently picked up surrounding a potential blockbuster that would see Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin head to Dallas in exchange for Robertson. However, the latest developments suggest Robertson may not have any interest in leaving the Stars for a non-contending team. 2026 NHL Draft Profile | Tyus Sparks, Spokane Chiefs -
Tyus Sparks could have succeeded in any sport. He certainly has the family pedigree. His dad, Nate, won a Grey Cup with the CFL's B.C. Lions, while his mom, Debbie, competed on Boise State's gymnastics team. Sparks' sister, Kiari, is also a decorated gymnast and his older brother, Makhai, plays hockey. Tyus himself dabbled in football as a running back and kicker while also playing soccer. But his hockey dreams were locked in from the moment he strapped on a pair of skates for the first time. "I was in Minnesota with my family," Sparks recalled. "The first time I skated was on a frozen-over basketball court and ever since then, I just loved it." That love has come with big sacrifices. Sparks hails from Meridian, Idaho- a state that has only produced two NHLers and a handful of minor professional players. He got his first shot with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings program, but rather than leave home, Sparks spent three years flying to gam

Förra året valdes tre svenskar i förstarundan. Anton Frondell gick som trea till Chicago Blackhawks, Victor Eklund som nummer 16 till New York Islanders och Sascha Boumedienne valdes som spelare nummer 28 av Winnipeg Jets.
