Kris Newbury, the current assistant coach with the Windsor Spitfires and a former OHL and NHL player, has been inducted into the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame. As a player, Newbury spent five seasons in the OHL with the Belleville Bulls and Sarnia Sting. During his time in Belleville, he captured an OHL Championship and earned OHL Second All-Star Team honours in 2001-02, followed by a Third All-Star Team selection in 2002-03. He went on to enjoy a 17-year professional career after being selected in the fifth round (139th overall) of the 2002 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks.
