OHL Power Rankings: 2026-27 Preseason Edition by the Ontario Hockey League -
A panel of 32 accredited OHL media members has weighed in on the 2026-27 season. Each voter submitted a 1-20 ballot, with a first-place vote worth 20 points and descending from there. The average score appears in brackets beside each team. The 2027 Memorial Cup host Guelph Storm open the season atop the rankings, edging the London Knights. OHL Power Rankings will be published weekly on Mondays. 1. Guelph Storm (19.47) The Storm carry the heaviest expectations in the league, and they've earned them. Guelph added Ryan Roobroeck — 99 career goals and counting — and Ethan Czata from Niagara, brought in Owen Griffin from Oshawa over the summer, and kept the group intact around Tyler Hopkins and 20-goal sophomore Carter Stevens. The crease is settled, too: overager Ben Hrebik enters the fold alongside Carolina Hurricanes prospect Zach Jovanovski, giving Cory Stillman two very capable options. With the 2

The Blackhawks’ collection of prospects who will play two games against the Blues’ prospects next week took the ice on Friday morning for the first practice. And it was physical. IceHogs head coach Jared Nightingale really put them thru some hard work and said he noticed who was in better than than others. If there are two guys in this showcase who could push for NHL ice time, it would be AJ Spellacy and Sacha Boisvert. They spent a lot of time on the ice together on Friday. I tweeted a few clips of them skating in drills together. Boisvert, Spellacy and Ty Henry in black here against Marek Vanacker, Martin Misiak and Ashton Cumby

Predicting whether every Flyer will be better or worse in 2026-27 -
The Philadelphia Flyers are in a weird place right now. Without much evidence of anything for how next season will go, we have a wide array of possibilities going through our head. Could they suddenly put everything together, with all the young players fulfilling their potential, and battle for the top spot in the division? It’s possible. Could they also be one of the worst teams in the NHL just because of some lack of true star power and other teams surging past them because of the offseason moves they made? Also possible. It feels like they can sway from one extreme to the other just because of a couple things going their way, or going against them. They’re a team who are clearly on the up considering their youth, but as general manager

Maksim Sokolovskii is already showing off and proving some doubters wrong. When the Philadelphia Flyers selected the 6-foot-8 defenseman out of the London Knights at 27th overall a couple months ago, eyes were rolling from all over the fan base. It appeared that the Flyers just went back to their well of getting the biggest guy in the draft class to try and make the next Chris Pronger or just get all mean and physical again instead of trying to get a better team to win more hockey games. Especially when people hurried to Elite Prospects to then see that Sokolovskii scored a total of eight points in the OHL, it was natural to become disheartened and not really feel great about the pick.
