Jack Nesbitt found the back of the net twice in Michigan’s 10-1 blowout victory over Alaska Anchorage on Friday night. The Flyers’ 12th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft had a relatively quiet opening weekend, so it was nice to see the 6-foot-5 center get on the scoresheet. Much has been said about the Flyers’ draft philosophy and the decision to trade up and select Nesbitt where they did, but the important thing now is that he proves them right. The Flyers have a real need down the middle, both on the current roster and in the system, and Nesbitt developing into a top-six center would go a long way toward addressing that need. Topp thrilled to be wearing the ‘C’ as Guelph Storm wins third straight by Tony Saxon -It was hard to tell who was happier, Rowan Topp or his parents Renee and Kevin. The fifth-year Guelph Storm defenceman was named the team captain after the morning skate Friday, and it was promptly followed by a call back to his parents on the family chicken farm in St. Anne's, halfway between Grimsby and Welland, a call captured by the team's social media team. "I think I might take that one, it's something I've been working towards for a while," Topp said when asked who was more excited with the news. "I'm so honoured. It's really amazing. But my parents have been such a huge influence in my life, I couldn't do it without them. My dad as well as my mom taught me about hard work. I'm grateful." Topp was his usual steady self Friday night as the Storm won their third straight, a 4-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires at the Sleeman Centre that was probably a lot closer than it should have been. After a first season split between the Storm and junior B Ayr Centennials, Topp has been a
