2026 NHL Draft Profile | Daxon Rudolph, Prince Albert Raiders -
Daxon Rudolph is more than familiar with carrying the weight of being a top draft pick. The Lacombe, Alta. product was called first overall in the WHL Prospects Draft by the Prince Albert Raiders back in 2023, joining the ranks of players like Connor Bedard, Matthew Savoie, Dylan Guenther, and, more recently, projected top NHL Draft picks Gavin McKenna and Landon DuPont. Needless to say, expectations have been high for the young man in Hockeytown North. "Being a first overall pick, it comes with a little bit of pressure," Rudolph admits. "But I mean, at the end of the day, hockey is fun, and we're all playing the game we love, so you try not to think about it. Once that puck drops, you're just playing the game you love and trying to do it to the best of your ability." The 6-foot-2, 205-pound, right-shot defenceman hasn't just brought his best- he's consistently been one of the best across the WHL. Rudolph's sophomore season saw him e

Western Hockey League mourns passing of longtime Raider Mark Odnokon -
The Western Hockey League is mourning the passing of Mark Odnokon, longtime member of the Prince Albert Raiders. The Raiders announced the passing of Odnokon on Sunday. He died at the age of 63. Most recently, Odnokon served as a Skills Coach for the Raiders during the 2025-26 WHL season. Hailing from Moose Jaw, Sask., Odnokon’s ties to the Raiders began in the late 1970s, when he played left wing for the Club during its final years in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) from 1978-79 through 1981-82. He helped the Raiders claim three consecutive SJHL titles (1980, 1981, 1982) before the Club joined the Western Hockey League for the 1982-83 season. Odnokon returned to the Raiders as an assistant coach for two seasons – 1990-91 and 1991-92. He then served a second stint as an assistant coach from 2003-04 through 2006-07. From 2015-16 through 2019-20, Odnokon was a Skills Coach for the Raiders, and helped the Club claim the WHL Championship i

Five moments that defined the Everett Silvertips’ season -
Kelowna, B.C.- The 2025-26 season is, undoubtedly, the greatest in Everett Silvertips history. And that's no small feat coming from one of the league's most consistent franchises. While the 'Tips bask in the glow of WHL Championship glory and gear up for their Memorial Cup debut, we're looking back on five key moments that helped make it all possible. A 'Tip' of the hat The Silvertips entered 2025-26 as the reigning regular-season champions, but had designs on winning it all from the get-go. Everett was hot out of the gates with three hat tricks in the first two weeks. After falling behind 3-0 in the second period to the Wenatchee Wild in the season opener, Zackary Shantz bagged his first career hat trick to force a shootout where Shantz, NHL Draft-eligible Matias Vanhanen and Nolan Chastko all lit the lamp to earn a 4-3 comeback win. On October 3, 2025, Seattle Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen picked up a hat trick of his own in a 7-1 drubbing

Everett Silvertips forward Julius Miettinen named 2026 WHL Playoffs MVP -
Prince Albert, Sask. – Everett Silvertips forward Julius Miettinen has been named the 2026 WHL Playoff MVP. The WHL Playoff MVP award is presented to a player deemed to have made the strongest contribution to his Club throughout the WHL Playoffs, as voted by members of the media. The prospect of the Seattle Kraken is the first Finnish-born player to earn WHL Playoff MVP honours, and only the second import player to accomplish the feat, following former Kelowna Rockets star Leon Draisaitl, who made history in 2014. The 6-foot-3, 207-pound centre helped Everett claim the franchise’s first Ed Chynoweth Cup. The Silvertips had previously appeared in two WHL Championships, including during the team’s expansion season (2003-04) and most recently in 2017-18. Selected by the Kraken in the second round (40th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft, Miettinen tallied 27 points to finish tied for the scoring lead in the 2026 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien, Original

A three-goal performance from Florida Panthers prospect Shea Busch propelled the Silvertips to victory in Game 5. The Silvertips run to the WHL Championship was a dominant one, beginning with a four-game sweep of the Portland Winterhawks to open the 2026 WHL Playoffs. The second round featured another five-game triumph – this one over the 2026 Memorial Cup-host Kelowna Rockets – and led into a four-game sweep of the expansion Penticton Vees in the WHL’s Western Conference Championship. 2026 WHL Championship Series – Game 5 Player to Watch: Braeden Cootes, Prince Albert Raiders -
Prince Albert, Sask. – If the Prince Albert Raiders are going to fight to see another day, you better believe Vancouver Canucks prospect Braeden Cootes will be at the centre of it. The 6-foot, 183-pound product of Sherwood Park, Alta., has put up four points (1G-3A) in four games of the WHL Championship and sits tied for fourth in WHL Playoff scoring with 22 points (7G-15A) in 19 games. The Raiders are up against the wall, down 3-1 in the best-of-seven WHL Championship Series presented by Nutrien. Now, their goal is to do something only one other team has ever done over the course of WHL history – erase the 3-1 deficit to claim the WHL crown. “We’re just taking it a game at a time, a shift at a time,” Cootes said. “It is what it is. Rivals Today… Griffins Teammates Tomorrow? | Bear, VanHanen & Christensen Turning Heads -
The WHL Finals are turning into a fascinating glimpse at the future for the Detroit Red Wings organization. Carter Bear scored the game winning goal as the Everett Silvertips pushed ahead to a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Prince Albert Raiders. Bear continues to show why so many people are excited about his future and why Detroit fans are paying close attention. Meanwhile, Matias VanHanen just keeps producing. Another goal and another assist as his stock continues to rise during this playoff run. If VanHanen is still available when Detroit makes their second round pick, should Steve Yzerman take the swing? His star continues to rise, so there’s no guarantee he’ll still be available at this point. But if he is…. And here’s where things get REALLY interesting… With the new AHL/CHL transfer agreement beginning next season, one 19-year-old player per NHL team can now move directly from the CHL to the AHL. VanHanen would qualify. That means in a wild twist, Carter Bear and Matias Va

2026 WHL Championship – Game 3 Player to Watch: Brock Cripps, Prince Albert Raiders -
Prince Albert, Sask. – It isn’t very often a 16-year-old defenceman carries a heavy load during the WHL Playoffs, but that’s exactly what Brock Cripps is doing for the Prince Albert Raiders. And he’s about to take on more in Game 3 with teammate Daxon Rudolph serving a one-game suspension. Cripps, the rookie from Victoria, B.C., has played an integral role for the Raiders during their postseason run, recording 19 points (4G-15A) in 17 games. “It means a lot to get that trust from all the coaches and just playing that huge role is definitely a lot of responsibility, and I’ve tried to do a good job taking that on,” Cripps said following Game 2. “Hopefully I can keep it going.” The presence of a 16-year-old on the blueline during a WHL Championship isn’t all that unfamiliar in Hockey Town North. In 2019, it was rookie Kaiden Guhle logging important minutes, helping the Raiders to the franchise’s second WHL title. Cripps, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound, right-

With an opportunity to take a series lead in Game 3, Vanhanen will once again be a focal point for the Everett offense. “It’s finals so you just want to win every game,” Vanhanen said prior to Game 3. “We have a good team, that helps a lot.
