Regina muscled out a commanding 4-1 lead in the second period, but the home side chipped away at the deficit steadily. Noah Davidson and Captain Bryce Pickford lit the lamp less than two minutes apart to make it a 4-3 game at the second intermission. That score would stand until the dying minutes of regulation, where the puck took a strange bounce off a stanchion and landed on the tape of NHL Draft-eligible Liam Ruck for a wide-open net and the game-tying goal. Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League announced today the 2025-26 finalists for the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy, presented annually to the WHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player. In two seasons with the Regina Pats, Hornung was widely regarded and respected for his combination of talent, desire, and unmistakable sportsmanlike attitude. He was paralyzed following a collision in a game in Regina on March 1, 1987, but remained deeply engrained in hockey and the WHL until his passing in 2022. NHL Player of the Month: Cole Caufield Several Canadiens players had incredible performances in March, a month in which the team only lost five times, and four of those were to either the San Jose Sharks or Anaheim Ducks. They played a lot of games of critical importance to the playoff race in the Eastern Conference and won every one of those games save a loss to the Detroit Red Wings. There were three legitimate candidates to claim this honour this time, but the winner is the one who led the league in a few categories. Cole Caufield has made headlines all season long for his timely goal-scoring, and no one scored more than the three game-winners he had in 14 games, tying him with five others. He sat alone atop the even-strength goals like with 10 of his 12 scored in those situations, and overall ended up one goal behind Pavel Zacha for the outright lead while playing two fewer games (and one in which he was too ill to take a regular shift).

Talk about a 1K(ane) kind of night. Vancouver Canucks forward and Giants alumnus Evander Kane played his 1,000th NHL game on Monday night. Though the Canucks would fall 4-2 to the Pacific Division-rival Vegas Golden Knights, there was plenty of reason for Kane to celebrate as he hit the ice for a celebratory warmup solo lap and, later, potted the game-opening goal. "It was nice to have the support of all the guys," Kane told reporters postgame. "They were excited for me, which made it special. Getting the first goal of the game was the little cherry on top." Kane's backhand deke marks the 339th goal of his long career. The 6-foot-2, 218-pound power forward has amassed 648 points (339G-309A) over parts of 17 seasons with the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets, Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, Edmonton Oilers, and, now, his hometown team. Calgary, Alta.- Medicine Hat Tigers forward Markus Ruck has captured the Bob Clarke Trophy as the 2025-26 WHL Top Scorer. The 18-year-old from Osoyoos, B.C., paced the league with 21 goals and 87 assists for 108 points and a +45 rating in 68 games. Ruck’s twin brother, Liam, finished in a close second place with 104 points (45G-59A). The 6-foot, 167-pound centreman was only held off the scoresheet 12 times, while recording three or more points on 11 occasions, highlighted by a one-goal, four-assist effort in a 10-4 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings on February 24, 2026. Ruck has also embarked on two point streaks that lasted 10 or more games, including a 13-game run that lasted from November 22, 2025, to December 30, 2025 (3G-22A). The Rebels are so back. Red Deer sealed a return to the postseason after a one-season absence by nature of a 4-1 Moose Jaw Warriors loss to the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday night. The Central Division club is currently on the ice for its regular-season finale against the reigning WHL Champion Medicine Hat Tigers. The Rebels have proved they're never out of the running after pulling together a new hard-scrabble identity post-2026 WHL Trade Deadline. Entering Friday's action, the Rebels earned points in seven of their last 10 games, including two hard-fought wins over the East Division-leading Prince Albert Raiders. 2026 NHL Draft-eligible forward Beckett Hamilton has broken out for 60 points (24G-36A) to lead the Rebels in scoring in his sophomore season.
