Kamloops Blazers alumnus Matthew Seminoff made his NHL debut for the Dallas Stars yesterday in their 6-3 win over the New York Islanders at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. In 8:53 of ice time, Seminoff recorded two shots. A native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Seminoff played in four WHL seasons from 2019-2023 after being selected in the fifth round, 93rd overall, of the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft by the Blazers. He had 73 goals and 97 assists in 196 regular season WHL games, as well as 16 goals and 12 assists in 31 playoff games, during which time Seminoff helped the Blazers to consecutive WHL conference final appearances in 2022 and 2023. Seminoff played in four games at the 2023 Memorial Cup for the hosts in Kamloops, where he had two goals and three assists. He wore an “A” as an alternate captain during the 2022-23 season. Regina, Sask. — Regina Pats forward Mathis Paull has been named to NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch List ahead of the 2027 NHL Draft, receiving a ‘C’ rating as a projected fourth- or fifth-round candidate. Paull, 17, is one of 54 WHL-developed players recognized on the list, which was unveiled Monday. The Vernon, B.C., product has recorded four points (2G-2A) in eight games with the Pats this season. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound left-shot forward is in his second season with Regina after tallying 13 points (7G-6A) in 55 games as a 16-year-old in 2025-26. His performance earned him the Nick Pappas Rookie of the Year Award as the Pats’ top rookie. Regina selected Paull in the third round, 48th overall, of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. Five players developed in the WHL have earned ‘A’ ratings, including defenceman Brock Cripps of the Prince Albert Raiders, forwards Noah Davidson of the Medicine Hat Tigers, Brock England of the Seattle Thunderbirds, and Kayden Stroeder of the Edmonton Oil Kings, along with defenceman Landon DuPont, who won a WHL Championship with the Everett Silvertips in 2026. Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen closed out three games in three days with a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory over the visiting Saskatoon Blades. A third period comeback by Saskatoon forced overtime, but captain Carter Sanderson played the hero, scoring his 15th goal of the season in extra time to secure two points for Calgary. Ben Bowtell opened the scoring for Saskatoon just four minutes into the game, but Calgary responded with four consecutive. Artem Katsuro netted his seventh of the season before Landon Amrhein scored his first of the year just over a minute later to give the Hitmen a 2-1 lead heading into the second period. Edmonton, Alta. - The Edmonton Oil Kings welcomed the Penticton Vees for the first time ever to Rogers Place on Sunday afternoon. The Oil Kings three game winning streak was snapped in the contest as the Vees downed the Oil Kings 4-1. In the first, Edmonton had outshot the Vees 4-1 in the early going but had no goals to show for it. By the end of the period, it was 2-0 Penticton with an 8-7 Vees shot advantage. Noel Pakarinen and Kash Alger-East got the Vees on the board in the first. Edmonton would get one back in the second off the stick of Aaron Obobaifo to make it 2-1, but they were unable to add another one in the game. Penticton added two more in the third from Brooks DeMars and Tyler Deakos as the Vees were able to hold on to their lead. Ethan Simcoe made 19 saves for Edmonton, while the powerplay was 0-for-3 and the penalty kill was 2-for-2. The Oil Kings are now 6-4-1-0 on the season and are back in action on Saturday, October 31 hosting Kamloops at 1 p.
