Royals ready to ride Clash of the Kingdoms momentum into 2026-27 WHL season -
Victoria, B.C.- The 2026 Clash of the Kingdoms may have ended in a draw, but the Victoria Royals have made their intentions clear — they intend to contend for the WHL crown in 2026-27. New additions to the B.C. Division squad shined as the Royals split their preseason series against the Ontario Hockey League's London Knights 7-1 and 5-3 over the weekend. "These were great games for us to be a part of heading into the season," Royals General Manager Jake Heisinger said. "They were some of the more competitive preseason games I’ve ever seen, which I think will help us get ready for the regular season. We like our group, and I know everyone is excited to get the season underway." Game 1 saw the Royals thrash their Eastern opponents 7-1 thanks to a four-point (3G-1A) outburst from blockbuster trade acquisition and Dallas Stars prospect Cameron Schmidt, who sat for the majority of the third period as the Knig

Clash of the Kingdoms Game 2 Player to Watch: Savin Virk, Victoria Royals -
Victoria, B.C.- Two-time WHL Coach of the Year James Patrick knows just how much the opportunity to defend the league at the Clash of the Kingdom means to his players. "The players are excited," Victoria's bench boss said. "The veteran players have all asked if they could play both games, and unfortunately they can't. But that just shows how excited they are about the opportunity. I think we'll be better for this experience, and we'll also, at the same time, be able to see some players in different situations and know if they're ready to take on that role for our team this year." One of those veterans is freshly minted Royal Savin Virk, who sat in the press box for Game 1. The 6-foot, 185-pound forward joined the team in late August as part of a blockbuster deal that sent projected 2027 first-round NHL Draft pick Eli McKamey to the Tri-City Americans, in addition to a slew of picks on both sides. It's a move that signals Victoria is eyeing a deep playoff run this y
