2026-10-31 The first 40 minutes were promising for the Halifax Mooseheads in the middle game of a three-game road swing through Quebec, but the wheels fell off in the third period in Victoriaville on Saturday in a 6-3 loss as the team fell for the second time in three nights. The Herd took a 3-2 lead into the final period of regulation thanks to tallies by Evan Nee, Patrick McNab and a go-ahead power play marker from Oleg Kulebiakin but the Tigres capitalized with four goals in the final frame which included a pair of power play strikes plus another off an odd-man rush that saw Alexis Desroches follow up on the rebound for the game-winner. The Desroches goal was the first of two goals in 15 seconds as the Tigres struck again moments later with Quinn Kennedy sitting in the box for slashing. Egor Shilov completed a hat trick when he fired the puck into an empty net in the final minute to make the final score 6-3.

The latest bit of great news came on Tuesday night in Las Vegas where 26-year-old Raphael Lavoie scored his first career goal while helping the Golden Knights to a 4-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators. “It means a lot. It’s been a long time coming now I think and it feels really good,” Lavoie told reporters following the game. The Chambly, QC native played in Halifax from 2016-2019, setting a team playoff record with 20 goals in the run to the 2019 Memorial Cup final on home ice. He was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft with the 38th overall selection. He has put up 214 points over six years in the American Hockey League and now has his first goal in 27 games in the NHL. The Kladno, Czechia native was selected by the Eagles in the second round (91st overall) of the 2025 CHL Import Draft and was in his second season with the organization. Over two seasons with the Eagles, Klaus appeared in 69 regular-season games, recording nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points. “We want to wish Adam the best of luck in the future, and we thank him for everything that he has done for us the past two seasons. A quiet opening period saw both teams struggle to generate quality scoring chances before Jamie Glance set up Olivier Groulx for his second goal of the season with just 24 seconds remaining. If there’s one thing Brad Cuzner knows, it’s how to appreciate different perspectives. As a player, he wore the sweater of his hometown Cape Breton Eagles for two seasons – until he closed out his career with his former rivals, the Halifax Mooseheads. He’s spent several years within both the Business Development and Scouting and Recruitment sides of the game. And it’s that well-rounded background that has led him to his current role as Manager of Hockey Operations & Recruitment with the Mooseheads. After four seasons in the ‘Q’, followed by another four at St. Francis Xavier University, where he earned his business degree, Cuzner, who currently resides in Halifax with, as he puts it, “my beautiful girlfriend and her awesome dog”, took a look around and realized rather quickly where he wanted to go next. “I saw a lot of my friends getting into careers in sales, or finance, or as lawyers,” Cuzner recalls.

SYDNEY, N.S. – The Saint John Sea Dogs got their revenge Friday night at Centre 200, coming back to beat the Cape Breton Eagles 4-3 in a shootout. Jamie Glance and Alex Donovan both scored in regulation time and converted again in the shootout to secure Saint John’s second win of the season. Donovan opened the scoring at 14:44 of the first to give Saint John a 1-0 lead. The Eagles applied plenty of pressure, but the Dogs carried the advantage into the first intermission. Just 1:52 into the second, Glance extended the lead to 2-0. Cape Breton responded with three unanswered goals, starting with Derek Andrews at 6:50. Liam Kilfoil raced down the ice after the opening faceoff to score the winner just 16 seconds into extra time, giving the Wildcats their fifth win in a row -- all by one goal -- to remain undefeated this season. The Mooseheads forced overtime with an Owen Phillips goal at 19:57 of the third. Niko Tournas upped his goal count to seven with another 2-goal performance.
