Chicoutimi wins its third QMJHL title -
After a 32-year wait, the Chicoutimi Saguneens are back on top of the QMJHL. The Sags secured the third Gilles-Courteau Trophy in franchise history after a Game 6 win over the Moncton Wildcats. In defeat, Moncton's Gabe Smith (UTA) was awarded the Guy Lafleur Trophy as QMJHL Playoffs MVP after he led the league in both goals (19) and points (33) in the postseason. As for Chicoutimi, regular season MVP Maxim Masse (ANA) led the team in postseason scoring with 24 points. Mavrick Lachance registered one point fewer while Nathan Lecompte tallied 20 points. The club had a pair of players reach double digits in goals in Lachance and captain Emmanuel Vermette. In goal, Lucas Beckman (OTT) was outstanding as he won all 16 postseason games and recorded a 1.98 GAA and .918 save percentage.. As QMJHL champions, the Sags will join the Kelowna Rockets, the WHL's Everett Silvertips and

2026 Gilles-Courteau Trophy Final – WILDCATS vs SAGUENÉENS PREVIEW -
They spent six months battling for regular season supremacy. Now, the Moncton Wildcats and Chicoutimi Saguenéens will face off with a league title and Memorial Cup berth on the line. The 2026 Gilles-Courteau Trophy Final is upon us with game one taking place tonight in Moncton. The Wildcats enjoyed their trip to the championship round last year so much that they decided to go back. Their road to round four was a little more perilous this spring, however. After dispatching first the Saint John Sea Dogs, then the Val-d’Or Foreurs in the minimum four games, it took all seven games to defeat the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the Semis. The Cats have looked to the grit, skill and big-body presence of 2024 Utah Mammoth draftee Gabe Smith all postseason. It’s been a recipe for success, as indicated by his league-leading 14 goals and 24 points through three rounds of play. San Jose Sharks draft pick Teddy Mutryn has been a force, particularly with his three-assist night against the Armada i

2026 Gilles-Courteau Trophy Playoffs – SAGUENÉENS vs. HUSKIES -
The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies have seen their share of postseason success over the past decade, while the Chicoutimi Saguenéens are looking to snap a 32-year drought. That’s the backdrop these two teams will play in front of when this best-of-seven Gilles-Courteau Trophy Semi-Final begins tonight in Chicoutimi. The Saguenéens arrive in round three having eliminated their first two opponents with surgical precision. After sweeping the Halifax Mooseheads in round one, the squad from Lac-St-Jean also disposed of the Québec Remparts in the minimum four games. Maxim Massé continued his torrid pace, as did fellow vets Emmanuel Vermette and Nathan Lacompte. The next team to shut out the Saguenéens on the power play will be the first to do so in these playoffs; Chicoutimi has found the back of the net on the man advantage in each of its first eight postseason encounters. But it’s what’s happening away from the puck that has been the story of the second season for the Sags. Eight games played, six

Huskies to draft first overall -
The QMJHL held its lottery earlier today at the RDS offices for the 2026 Draft presented by Fenplast, and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies have won the first overall pick. The Huskies will select first overall for the first time since relocating to Rouyn-Noranda in 1996. The organization had previously held this privilege in 1989, when it was known as the Saint-Hyacinthe Laser. Patrick Poulin was chosen first overall then. The Huskies were the favorites to win the lottery with 9 balls out of 21 (42.9% odds), through a pick that originally belonged to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, who finished 18th and last in the QMJHL standings. Rouyn-Noranda will pick first ahead of the Victoriaville Tigres, who moved up from fourth to second place thanks to the lottery. The Bois-Francs team had only two b

Sylvain Favreau named Coach of the Year -
The QMJHL is proud to announce that Sylvain Favreau has been awarded the Ron-Lapointe Trophy as Coach of the Year for the 2025-2026 season. In his fifth season as a head coach, and his third in Drummondville, Favreau earns this prestigious honour for the first time. It also marks the first time in QMJHL history that a Voltigeurs head coach has received this award. In a surprising turn, Favreau guided the Voltigeurs in a season-long battle for top spot in the Western Conference, ultimately finishing just one point behind the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Gilles-Courteau Trophy champions in 2024, the Voltigeurs finished third overall in 2024-2025 and fifth in 2025-2026. An achievement in itself, considering the team relied on just one 60-point scorer, Jesse Allecia, and only one other 50-point scorer, Renaud Poulin. The Voltigeurs operated by committee, finishing sixth in both goals for and goals against, despite dressing two rookie goaltenders throughout the season. They were particularl
