The latest Videotron Player of the Week in the QMJHL is Rouyn-Noranda Huskies goaltender Alexandre Raymond. The 18-year-old from Sherbrooke, Quebec helped the Huskies sweep their weekend slate of games by going 2-0-0-0 with a shutout, a 0.50 GAA and a .977% save percentage. On Friday night at home, Raymond got off on the right foot in his first appearance following time in NHL training camp with the Colorado Avalanche. The sophomore netminder steered aside all 24 shots he faced as the Huskies defeated the Drummondville Voltigeurs 6-0. It was Raymond’s third career QMJHL shutout and made him a worthy choice for first star of the game. Back at home on Sunday afternoon, Raymond saw his shutout streak to start the season end at just under 95 minutes. C'est ce dimanche que s'amorçait l'édition 2026-2027 de la Guerre de la 117 à Rouyn-Noranda. Le gardien Arseni Radkov, fort d'une victoire la veille à Val-d'Or, obtenait un autre départ devant la cage des Foreurs. Il faisait face à Alexandre Raymond. Le Vert et Or tentait de demeurer invaincu cette saison. La première période s'est déroulée sans grande histoire. Les deux gardiens ont eu à se signaler à quelques occasions et n'ont pas cédé. Quelques épisodes de brasse-camarade ont fait monter la tension entre les deux équipes rivales. 0-0 après 20 minutes. 10-7 Foreurs les tirs. Le jeu plutôt brouillon des deux côtés s'est poursuivi durant une deuxième période marquée par plusieurs pénalités. Un peu après la marque de la mi-match, Étienne Maheu et Fedor Andreev en sont notamment venus aux coups. Les Foreurs débutaient la saison à domicile au Centre Agnico Eagle en accueillant les Voltigeurs de Drummondville. L’organisation soulignait le récent décès de l’un des piliers fondateurs des Foreurs de Val-d’Or, Monsieur Jean-Claude Babin. Pour l’occasion, les joueurs portaient et porteront un collant commémoratif en son honneur sur leur casque. En première période, les joueurs ont bourdonné autour du filet du cerbère des Voltigeurs sans toutefois réussir à déjouer Larys. En fin de période, c’est Charles-Antoine Thériault qui a eu le plaisir de marquer le premier but de la saison des Foreurs à domicile; il s’agissait d’ailleurs de son premier but dans la LHJMQ. En début de deuxième période, les Foreurs ont rapidement doublé leur avance grâce à Benjamin Olivier. Drummondville a assuré la réplique via Jaydon Rousseau. The QMJHL is proud to announce that Eastlink Community TV will broadcast 20 regular-season games this season, the majority of which will take place on Friday nights (15). Eastlink Community TV also plans to broadcast games during the first three rounds of the 2027 playoffs. The first regular-season matchup will be broadcast on September 18 and will feature the Halifax Mooseheads against the Cape Breton Eagles, who are considered by many to be the team to beat in the QMJHL this season.
