BMR Student-Athletes of the Month | March 2026 -
Inspired by its partner BMR, the QMJHL highlights every month student-athletes who, through hard work and perseverance, are building their future both on the ice and in school. The selection is made following a consultation conducted by the Director of the QMJHL Education Program, Valérie Monette, with the teams' educational advisors. "These student-athletes caught our attention as much for their brilliance on the ice as for their commitment to their studies, said Ms. Monette. The QMJHL office, team managers and players are working together to build a solid foundation for the future, both in sports, academics and personal development. Yes, we strive for excellence in sports, but above all, we strive to develop strong and committed citizens." The 18 recipients of the month were selected by the teams' educational advisors, who play a central role in the educational development of our players. The duo of Justin Carbonneau and Mateo Nobert continued its magic, the former coming up with an overtime-winner in game three and the insurance marker in the clincher. Overall, eight players enter the Quarter-Finals averaging at least a point per game. On the backend, Mathieu Taillefer continues his understated play while Spencer Gill is enjoying his first prolonged stretch of play this campaign. In the crease, William Lacelle’s steady play improved game by game, highlighted by a

The QMJHL Announces the 18 Nominees for the Marcel-Robert Trophy -
The QMJHL is proud to announce today the nominees from each of the 18 teams for the 2025-2026 Marcel-Robert Trophy, presented by BMR. This prestigious honor is awarded annually to the student-athlete of the year—the player who best combines on-ice performance with academic success. “In the QMJHL, we talk about student-athletes, and the order of those words is important,” noted Commissioner Mario Cecchini. “From ages 16 to 20, you are first and foremost a student, and our teams do everything they can to properly support their players in achieving academic success. The 18 nominees for the Marcel-Robert Trophy have done an outstanding job of balancing school and hockey. They are role models for current and future QMJHL players.” “As chairman of the selection committee and a former recipient of the Marcel-Robert Trophy, I have great admiration for all student-athletes who excel both on the ice and in the classroom,”

Proxi Playoff preview – Western Conference -
The stories coming out of the Eastern Conference have been told. Now, we discuss the teams of the Western Conference, where there is no shortage of storylines. Per Will MacLaren Rouyn-Noranda Huskies - 40-17-5-2, 87 Pts - 1st in West, 3rd overall After back-to-back second place finishes in the West, the Huskies decided to do the one thing few expected this season; claim top spot in the conference. The story behind the club’s success is, in many ways, no different than what followers had come to expect in previous campaigns. There always seems to be at least one player in Rouyn-Noranda who steps up as the key driver offensively. This year, it’s 20-year-old Thomas Verdon, who finished third in league scoring. Complimenting him has been fellow veteran Samuel Beauchemin and Swiss stud Lars Steiner, who turned his game up yet another notch during the final weeks of the seaso
