TORONTO, ON — The Canadian Hockey League is proud to announce that 44 players and prospects from the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League — representing 35 of the CHL’s 61 member clubs — will compete for Canada Red and Canada White at the 2026 Under-17 World Challenge, set for Nov. 1-9 at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ont. The strong representation from across the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL on both Canadian rosters further underscores the CHL’s central role in Canada’s elite player pathway. Players and prospects from the Member Leagues have also been central to Canada’s recent success at the event, with Canada winning gold at each of the last three Under-17 World Challenges and the past two finals featuring Canada Red and Canada White facing one another for gold. Over that span, 107 CHL players have taken home medals, including 66 gold medalists.

ST. JOHN’S, NL — The Newfoundland Regiment lost a second straight on the road as they dropped a 7-4 decision to the Shawinigan Cataractes on Monday evening at the Centre Gervais Auto. Shawinigan jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Nathan Ouellet and Pierre-Alexandre Lemieux scored inside nine minutes. Louis-François Bélanger brought one back on a Regiment powerplay with 7:26 to play in the first but William Yared restored the Cataractes two goal lead just 50 seconds later. Bélanger grabbed a second moments later to once again get his side within a goal heading into the opening intermission. ST. JOHN’S, NL — The Newfoundland Regiment win streak came to a halt at five games following a 6-1 loss to the Rimouski Oceanic on Saturday evening at the Colisée Financière Sun Life. Tyson Goguen opened the scoring on a Newfoundland powerplay six minutes into the game before A.J. Schaaf replied ten minutes later for Rimouski to make it 1-1 after the first period. Rimouski took the game over late in the second period with three goals in a five minute span from Julien Nadeau, Rafael Cloutier and Mathys Dube to make it 4-1 for the hosts after 40 minutes. JOHN’S, NL — The Newfoundland Regiment won their first road game of the year midweek as they took down the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 6-3 on Wednesday night at the Centre d’Excellence Sports Rousseau. After a goalless opening period, Alexis Michaud got the scoring started on a Regiment powerplay 5:42 into the second to make it 1-0 Newfoundland. The second period onslaught from the visitors continued as Louis-François Bélanger, Maddex Marmulak and William Lundqvist got in on the scoring to make it 4-0 for the visitors after 40 minutes. Charles Laforest opened the scoring for the Huskies once again, this time 11:07 into the contest. After Maddex Marmulak replied for the Regiment seven minutes later, Jayden Pominville restored the visitors lead on the next shift to make it 2-1 Huskies after 20 minutes. 2026-09-29 Your Halifax Mooseheads are set for another pair of road games this weekend when they travel to the province of New Brunswick for battles with the Wildcats and Sea Dogs. The schedule to open the season is road heavy for the Herd with five of the team's first six games being played away from the Scotiabank Centre. After settling for a single point on Friday in a 4-3 overtime loss, Newfoundland took no time to get on the scoresheet on Saturday as Alexis Michaud opened the scoring just 3:30 into the contest. SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The Saint John Sea Dogs have finalized their roster for the start of the 2026-27 season, the team announced Wednesday. A total of 24 players have been named to the roster, including 13 forwards, nine defencemen and two goaltenders. Headlining the Sea Dogs’ returning core are captain Olivier Groulx, Alexis Joseph, Alex Donovan, Zach Morin and Cameron Chartrand, who return to lead Saint John into the 2026-27 season. Newcomers on the roster include trade acquisitions Ryan Howard, Olivier Lemieux, Thomas Charbonneau, Brandon Delarosbil, Julien Lanthier and Samuel Meloche, along with 2026 CHL Import Draft selections Matyáš Čančík and Oliver Ozogany, 2026 first-round pick Lawrence Williams, and Quispamsis native Jesse Dunlap.
