LA Kings Prospect Update – Week 10/12 -
Another week has passed, so it’s time for our weekly LA Kings prospect update. While tracking the prospects this week, it was hard to identify one skater who stood out. Instead, I looked at the goalies and picked one performance that highlighted the week. This week’s update featured 26-year-old netminder Erik Portillo. Portillo played in one game for the Ontario Reign (AHL) and helped backstop the club to a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Gulls on October 14th. Portillo hasn’t been the clear-cut number-one goalie, nor has he been splitting starts. With Hampton Slukynsky and Carter George in the fold, they will need start

Pierce Mbuyi buried a shot off a feed from John Banks, opening the scoring and giving Owen Sound a 1-0 lead.   Flint answered when Anderson made a great pass, setting up the Firebirds captain Jimmy Lombardi to snipe a shot past Leenders. OHL Weekend Notebook (Oct. 5): Wolves stay perfect, Jovanovski shuts the door -
Here’s a look at some of the top storylines from an action-packed weekend across the league.   Wolves stand alone as OHL’s last undefeated team The Sudbury Wolves are the last perfect team standing, improving to 5-0 with a dominant 7-1 victory over the Niagara IceDogs to continue the best start in franchise history. Sudbury’s power play did plenty of damage in the win, converting five times on seven opportunities. Adam Nemec also made his presence felt immediately in his first game back with the Wolves, recording a goal and four assists for a five-point performance.   Bulldogs still setting the pace Brantford’s perfect start came to an end on Sunday, but the Bulldogs still sit atop the OHL with a 7-1-0-0 record and the league’s best goal different

Who's up: Guelph Storm - up one spot to #1 this week The Storm take over the top spot on the strength of four straight wins. Guelph built a 3-0 lead and held off Windsor 4-2 on Friday, with Tyler Hopkins scoring twice and Ryan Roobroeck collecting the 200th point of his OHL career, then blanked rival Kitchener 6-0 on Sunday behind six different goal scorers. Zach Jovanovski has been the story: a second consecutive shutout gives him 120 minutes of perfect hockey to open 2026-27. Hopkins earned first-star honours on Sunday with a goal and an assist, and Roobroeck has scored in three straight games. An 0-2 start feels like a long time ago, and at 4-2-0-0 the preseason favourites are at the top of the list where most expected them to be. Firebirds Weekly Roundup, September 28-October 4 -
FLINT — The Firebirds entered the third week of regular-season play with a record of 2-1-0-0. First up was a familiar West Division foe, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, who brought a 4-1-0-0 record into the tilt. Flint had played the fewest games to date (three) when the puck dropped in the sold-out Dort Financial Center on Saturday evening. In fact, 17 of the OHL’s 20 franchises had played at least five games while the Firebirds sat idle at three until the weekend. The Birds got off to a hot start in Game 4 of the year, with Brighton, Michigan native Darian Anderson (NYR) scoring his fourth goal in four games to put Flint on top 1-0. The visiting Greyhounds went on to score three unanswered before the first intermission. Sophomore forward Charlie Murata scored his first of the year in the middle frame to cut the deficit to one, but that was all the offense could muster. James Paul (0 G, 4 A) and Xavier Tessier (3 G, 1 A) each picked up a helper to also earn a fourth

HIGHLIGHTS | Knights vs Firebirds | 10/04 -
The London Knights faced their first loss of the season Sunday afternoon, falling 7-2 to the Flint Firebirds at Canada Life Place. Not exactly the result London was hoping for after an undefeated run to start the season. Heading into Sunday’s matchup, the Knights sat at the top of the Western Conference while the Flint Firebirds were among the conference’s bottom teams. Just 29 seconds into the game, newly appointed Flint captain Jimmy Lombardi opened the scoring with a wrap-around goal. Flint defenceman Lucas Nutting made it 2-0. The Knights battled through a 5-on-3 penalty kill unscathed, but Flint carried a two-goal advantage into the second period. London came out hungry for a comeback and got the building going when Alex Campeau dropped the gloves with Flint’s Zack Bleick in the most heated exchange of the afternoon. Flint added another on the power play before London finally found the back of the net; Thomas Zocco with his fourth goal of the season, to put the Knights on the

Firebirds Fall to Greyhounds, 3-2 -
FLINT – The Flint Firebirds opened the night with a goal from Darian Anderson, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the Soo Greyhounds, 3-2, on Saturday night at the Dort Financial Center. Three first period goals from the Soo were the difference in the contest.   HOW IT HAPPENED: During the first, defenseman James Paul was able to keep the puck in the attacking zone for Flint. He slid the puck to Jimmy Lombardi, then found Darian Anderson, who skated in and flicked the puck between the legs of David Vermirovski for the first goal of the game. The Greyhounds then scored their first goal shortly after, accomplished by Christopher Brown on a breakaway. The Soo followed up with another goal, this time from Colin Fitzgerald on the power play. Fitzgerald accepted a pass from Callum Croskery and fired it over the shoulder of Mason Courville to give the Hounds a 2-1 lead. With one minute remaining in the first, the Soo added one more goal off a defle

HIGHLIGHTS | Knights vs Battalion | 10/02 -
The London Knights secured their fourth straight victory with a 4-1 win against the North Bay battalion Friday night. The first period was heavy hitting, but neither team managed to break through in the opening frame, sending the Knights and Battalion into the second period scoreless. It took nearly half the game for someone to change that. Marcus Nordmark, who recently returned from Anaheim Ducks’ training camp, opened the scoring with his first goal of the season, and his first career OHL goal. The Battalion’s Evgeny Dubrovtsev managed to even the score, entering the third tied 1-1. Less than a minute into the period, North Bay slipped up on a defensive change and gave Thomas Zocco an opening, putting London back in the lead with the momentum they needed. Jaxon Cover got a goal in his first game back from Ottawa Senators camp, joining Nordmark with another first of the season. If Friday night was any indication, both first-rounders are going to be standout players for this Knigh
