Have Golden Knights, Hurricanes given Bruins a blueprint to contending? -
Drafting and developing has often been the best and most cost effective way to build a true Stanley Cup contender, especially in the salary cap era (2005-06 to present). The Chicago Blackhawks won three Stanley Cup titles after drafting franchise cornerstone players such as Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith. The Pittsburgh Penguins won three titles after drafting Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marc-Andre Fleury and Kris Letang. The Tampa Bay Lightning won two championships after drafting Steven Stamkos, Brayden Point, Nikita Kucherov, Ondrej Palat and Victor Hedman. There are several other examples, too. This season’s Stanley Cup finalists — the Vegas Golden Knights and Carolina Hurricanes — have taken the complete opposite approach to roster construction. Let’s breakdown some crazy numbers and notes from both of their active rosters ahead of Tuesday night’s Game 1 in Carolina:

Letter Grades for the Players, 2025-26 Season – Part 1 of 2 -
After Great Team Success, How Do the Sabres Break Down Individually? Today we take a look at the individual performances of each player and assign a letter grade accordingly. Each Sabre graded must meet the 20 games played with Buffalo minimum. So no Konsta Helenius or Sam Carrick and several others. These grades are for the regular season only, not playoffs. We will split the eligible players into two randomly listed sections. This will be part 1 of 2. Owen Power (81-8-21-29 +9) Grade B Power made some strides this season with his defensive game, especially late in the year. (and on into the playoffs) He provided a bit more physicality into the middle pairing and seems to close the gap quicker on his opponent with tighter coverage. His offense fell off to just 29 points but I feel that will bump up again soon as he rounds out his game. Lots to like here as Power continues to grow. Beck Malenstyn (81-7-7

Bruins offer sheet explainer: Potential targets for rarely used method -
Offer sheets have been part of the NHL for a long time, but actually seeing them used as a method to acquire a player from another team is pretty rare.General managers don’t like using offer sheets. For some reason, we almost never see players presented with an offer sheet from a rival team. In fact, only 12 players have signed an offer sheet in the salary cap era (2005-06 to the present), and just four of those 12 actually changed teams as a result. The last two players to be poached via an offer sheet were Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway. The Blues signed both of them to offer sheets in 2024 and the Edmonton Oilers, who were in a tough salary cap situation, did not match either one. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney was asked about offer sheets during his team’s end-of-season press conference earlier this month.“I mean, they’re part of the CBA,” Sweeney said May 6. “St. Louis executed one, executed two, to t
