BRANTFORD, ONTARIO – Brantford Bulldogs General Manager Spencer Hyman has announced the signing of Michigan commit, defenceman Abe Barnett, from the United States National Team Development Program to a Standard Players Agreement. Barnett, a product of Wilmette, IL, had his rights acquired by the Bulldogs from the Ottawa 67’s on January 9th, and now officially joins the organization. Arriving after two years with the National Team Development Program, Barnett has been a tower of power, skating in 180 games across the U17, U18 & USHL levels. In the 2025-26 season, Barnett skated in 87 games between the U18 & USHL sides collecting 15 points from the blueline while posting a plus-21 rating. TORONTO (Wednesday, May 6, 2026) - The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) today announced that it has issued a $15,000 fine to the Barrie Colts Hockey Club for conduct detrimental to the public perception of the League. The disciplinary action is a result of post-game remarks made by Colts Head Coach Dylan Smoskowitz following Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Championship Series, played in Brantford on Monday. The OHL holds its member teams and their personnel to the highest standards of professional conduct. The post-game comments in question were determined to be highly unprofessional and represented a disservice to the dedicated media members who provide coverage of the Ontario Hockey League.

TORONTO – The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) today announced the broadcast team for the 2026 OHL Championship Series presented by Nissan. David Foot will handle play-by-play duties. Foot serves as Manager, Broadcast and Communications with the Belleville Senators and has been a longtime voice in junior and professional hockey. He has called American Hockey League action on the radio while also contributing as a reporter and analyst, bringing a well-rounded on-air presence to the broadcast. Foot’s recent national work includes calling the 2025 WHL Championship Series between the Medicine Hat Tigers and Spokane Chiefs on TSN, along with the 2024 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Sarnia, also on TSN.
