Sharks at Flames game 53: Lines, game thread and how to watch -
So far, the San Jose Sharks’ road trip is going okay. The team would have liked to get that extra point in Central Alberta, but three out of four potential points is a good way to start things off. This afternoon, the Sharks have a chance to make some headway in the playoff race with a win over the Calgary Flames. While it’s a bit early to be standings watching, here’s where the Sharks stand as of this morning.

Quick bites: Sharks burned in Calgary -
With a chance at redemption after a blown 3-0 lead in neighboring Edmonton, the Sharks stumbled once again against the Calgary Flames. Two points lost to a Calgary team that’s struggled to win this season feel like a bit more than that, considering how tight the Western Conference playoff race has become, but the Sharks will have to move on and find a way to salvage more points out of this road trip. Will Smith got the game going early for San Jose with a power play goal, his fourth in the 7 games since his return from injury. The Sharks couldn’t build on that lead, however, before Calgary evened the score at 1 to end the first. The Sharks looked set to get a 5-on-3 power play late in that period, but a controversial call against the Sharks turned what could’ve been a great chance to take a 2-1 lead into the locker room into a 5 on 4 that the Sharks couldn’t strike on. Clearly animated, coach Ryan Warsofsky tried his best to dissuade the officials.

Sharks at Blackhawks game 54: Lines, game thread and how to watch -
The San Jose Sharks are looking for redemption tonight after putting up a subpar effort in Calgary just a few nights ago. The Sharks are in Chicago visiting the Blackhawks for stop number three on the road trip. It doesn’t get easier from here, so this really feels like a game that the Sharks need to win. This is the first of three meetings between the Sharks and the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks are probably out of the playoffs with a 21-25-9 record and just 51 points, the Blackhawks are seventh in the wild card race right now. That’s not out of the mix, but it’s also not close. That said, a good run can make all the difference. Chicago is 2-6-2 in its last ten games. The Blackhawks have lost the team’s last two in a row, most recently a 4-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday. That said, there are bright spots in Chicago’s season. Connor Bedard has had a bounce back season. He’s 33rd in the league in scoring with 52 points in 42 games. Tyler Be

GM #51: Detroit Red Wings @ Winnipeg Jets -
With the 1 point the Winnipeg Jets picked up against Florida, the team had moved 6 points back from the final wildcard spot in the Western Conference. Yet the NHL’s action on Friday night saw quite a few of the other franchises in the race pick up victories, so they will enter today’s contest versus the Detroit Red Wings a full 4 games back (8 pts) of playoff contention. The True Northers are currently sitting with the 4th worst record in the league based on points earned, but rise to 5th when you go by points percentage, which happens to be the method our friends at Tankathon uses for their draft odds & mock lottery mode. Therefore, Winnipeg currently has an 8.5% shot at 1st overall, 8.6% at 2nd, a measly 0.3% shot at 3rd, no chance at 4th, 24.5% odds at 5th, the highest chance at ending up in 6th (44%), and the farthest they could drop is 7th (14.2%). The Winnipeg Jets had strung together about 19 competitive hockey games in a row…even if they only won 6 of those. Yet that streak ended in the True Northers’ last contest when an embarrassing 3rd period saw the Detroit Red Wings rout our team 5 to 1. As a result, the Jets are still well back from a wildcard spot and with the Calgary Flames picking up a point on Sunday, the Manitobans are now sitting with the 3rd worst record in the NHL. A quick visit to Tankathon tells us that gives Winnipeg a 12.2% shot at 1st overall, 11.9% at 2nd, a 8.9% shot at 3rd, a 40.3% chance at 4th, & 26.7% odds at 5th. Running the mock lottery once again, here is how the top 5 finished: Washington Capitals (5.3% odds) Nashville Predators (7.2% odds) Vancouver Canucks (53.1% odds)

The last placed Canucks ended up with the top selection, while the 4th place Blac
