EVERETT, Wash. -- The Everett Silvertips have signed goaltender Bennett Byers to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Byers, an '08-born Calgary, AB native, appeared in 19 games for CDA 18U Prep last season, posting a 7-11-0 record with a .928 save percentage and a 3.10 goals-against average. The 6-foot-1, 162-pound netminder appeared in two Preseason games this fall, stopping 18 of 20 in 31 minutes of work against the Portland Winterhawks and all 36 in two periods of a combined shutout against the Seattle Thunderbirds. "Our scouting staff did a great job identifying Bennett early last season," commented general manager Mike Fraser. "We've been impressed with his progression ever since.
