Buffalo’s aggression meant the Isles had a couple of odd-man rushes but were unable to create shooting opportunities from them. They may currently be on their longest winning streak of the season at five games, but now they’re winning because of their goaltending. It’s great news that Jakub Dobeš has hit such a form in the final portion of the season that he was named the NHL’s first star of the week, but him facing 104 shots in three games shouldn’t be the plan heading into the post-season. Bottom Six Minutes: Jakub Dobeš does it again -
For the second time in a week, the Montreal Canadiens found themselves taking on a top team in the Eastern Conference in the form of the Carolina Hurricanes. This time, they would have to do it in Carolina’s barn, and would have to do so on very little rest, having just won a game in Nashville that started less than 24 hours prior to this one. In both games against the Hurricanes, the Habs struggled to spend much time in the offensive zone, and yet for the second time, they found a way to get a big two points despite being outplayed. The common denominator for those wins was Jakub Dobeš, who has been on an absolute tear of late, and has now stolen two wins on his team’s five-game winning streak. Jakub Dobes has been very busy in this game. It does not appear that this will change. pic.twitter.com/z6CDwisRG6— Matt Drake (@DrakeMT)

Canadiens @ Hurricanes Top Six Minutes: Montreal sweeps season series versus East’s best -
Josh Anderson is unable to play with his illness, so Arber Xhekaj comes into today’s game. Not as a defenceman, but as a fourth-line forward. First period The Hurricanes have come out as the better team, so it seems the Habs didn’t learn anything from the previous meeting. They might give up more than 16 shots at this rate. Five minutes in, the Canadiens haven’t won a single puck battle. How do they go from last night’s performance to this? The puck has barely been out of Montreal’s end, and now the Hurricanes have drawn a deserved power play. Joke’s on Carolina. Montreal has to touch before they can get a power play, and they haven’t done that yet this game. The ref has his arm up for at least a minute before there’s a reason to blow the whistle. It’s a pretty embarrassing display from Montreal right now. Andrei Svechnikov score

Gold Lion: Blackhawks at Devils Preview -
The Chicago Blackhawks wrap up their road trip with a stop in New Jersey to face the Devils, looking to salvage something, anything, from a stretch that’s quickly gone off the rails. It’s been a while since the Blackhawks last saw the Devils — all the way back in mid-November — and the version of this team now feels pretty different from the one that was still hovering around the playoff picture at the time. The Devils spent the first couple of months flirting with relevance in the Eastern Conference race but they never quite found another gear, and they’ve been on the outside looking in since before the Olympic break. Lately, they’ve been respectable enough, going 6-4-0 in their last 10 games, but that kind of stretch doesn’t move the needle much when you’re chasing in a loaded East and with the team sitting nine points back from the final wild card spot. One major issue with the Devils this year is the lack of offensive finish outside of a

Bottom Six Minutes: Ivan Demidov makes prey of the Predators -
While 77 points would barely have a team out of the basement in the Eastern Conference, for the Nashville Predators, it is currently enough for a wild card spot. Battling to hold on to their spot, they hosted the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, a team embroiled in their own heated battle, and theirs being in the most competitive division in hockey right now. The Habs outclassed their hosts for most of the game, opening up a 4-0 lead, and nearly earning a shutout for Jacob Fowler if not for a horrible bounce off a stanchion that allowed a 4-1 final score. A big part of how they accomplished that convincing win was the young Ivan Demidov, who was all over Nashville.
