Teams are already thinking about the future and the offseason. General managers are already thinking about how to keep their important players in the fold. However, it’s a delicate dance to keep that talent and to battle against the salary cap. One team that could get ahead of things is the Colorado Avalanche. This edition of NHL rumours deals with Cale Makar and Colorado’s urgency to keep him. All NHL rumours come from the original source and are sub

All Things Must Pass: Blues 5, Blackhawks 3 -
Chicago lost yet again on Saturday at the United Center, falling 5-3 to the St. Louis Blues. St. Louis struck first midway through the opening period. The Blackhawks weren’t able to get the puck out and, after some cycling, Jimmy Snuggerud got to the net to tip in Tyler Tucker’s shot. Not sure there's a more perfect tip than that. #stlblues pic.twitter.com/dS3bAXIjGI— St. Louis Blues (@StLouisBlues) April 11, 2026 The Blackhawks evened the score 1-1 about five minutes later. A good pinch from Wyatt Kaiser forced a turnover that Connor Bedard collected before setting up Ryan Greene for a snap shot from near the top of the circle.

Country Grammar: Blackhawks vs. Blues Preview -
The Blackhawks continue their season-ending homestand on Saturday afternoon at the United Center against the St. Louis Blues. Since the turn of the new year, the Blues have played better than their first-half disaster suggested, but not nearly well enough to make the turnaround complete and qualify for the playoffs. They tightened up defensively, got steadier goaltending, and generally looked more competent after the new year, including putting together mostly break-even shot metrics like a 49.63 percent shot attempt share and 50.22 percent expected goal share in that span. Unfortunately for the Blues, despite the improvement, the team was just never able to string together the kind of run needed to erase their ugly start. So, instead of mounting a real playoff push, St. Louis has mostly spent the last few months hovering in that annoying space where they’re more respectable to bottom out but never actually close enough to matter — and now sit effectively out of the

Hit ’Em Up Style: Blackhawks vs. Hurricanes Preview -
The Chicago Blackhawks wrap up the season with a four-game homestand, starting Thursday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. It’s been a little over two months since the Blackhawks last saw the Hurricanes, and not much has changed for the team from Carolina. The Hurricanes are perched atop the Metropolitan Division, having locked up the top divisional seed by sitting 10 points clear of the second-place Pittsburgh Penguins. Only the Colorado Avalanche have put together a better overall season to this point, with the Dallas Stars not far behind, but Carolina remains firmly in that top tier. Same identity, same results: a structured, relentless team that just keeps stacking wins while everyone else tries (and mostly fails) to keep up … at least in the regular season. The Hurricanes have been one of the most dominant regular-season teams over the last several years, but the question always lingers: can they finally get it done in the playoffs?
