Each member of the line consisting of Kai Schwindt, Hunter St. Martin and Cole Reinhardt turned on the red light and St. Martin and Reinhardt also added assists. First Star Reinhardt stole the puck from defenseman Ryan McDonagh and beat Andrei Vasilevskiy from between the circles 5:35 into the final frame to give the Panthers the lead for good. It was his third goal of the preseason and came just six seconds after Jansen Harkins’ second of the night evened the score at 3-3. Uvis Balinkski sent Sandis Vilmanis away for the clinching empty-netter at 19:36 after a series of saves by Kirill Gerasimyuk, who stopped 11 of 12 shots faced in the third to get the win. Things only started up a little over a week ago, it flew by so quickly….guess that is what happens when there are 2 less contests to schedule. Despite the apparent rush to get to the regular season games…our own hockey team will actually have to wait a full week before they kick things off by hosting the Boston Bruins at the Canada Life Centre on October 2nd. Therefore tonight is the last opportunity against official opposition for some of the players remaining in the True North training camp to impress the coaching staff enough to solidify a spot on the NHL roster. Others will be focusing on locking up their spots on the depth chart or gaining chemistry with their linemates. It happens every year: QMJHL teams are always able to add high-end players thanks to the Canadian Hockey League’s Import Draft, and these players quickly establish themselves among the league’s stars. The 2026 draft took place on June 30, and a few names have already caught fans’ attention during preseason games. Who are they? There are several, and some will break out during the 2026–27 season, but in this article, we’re highlighting just five players to keep an eye on. The Victoriaville Tigres, among others, greatly benefited from the impact of their import players last season. Both drafted in 2025, Shilov (82 points) and Alexey Vlasov (80 points) finished in the top 10 in QMJHL scoring.
