Perception vs. Reality, Fantasy Keepers, Pavelski Joins the Badgers, and Other Blackhawks Bullets -
Let’s open our Friday with some more discussion about the current Blackhawks issue of perception vs. reality. Yesterday, I shared my thoughts on the league-wide front office confidence poll at The Athletic. In that, I was fairly critical of the macro discourse surrounding the franchise; the Hawks are far from a rudderless ship, though many national/league-wide writers paint it as such. In thinking about the results of that poll, I was mindful of another poll at the same outlet. Earlier in the month, Scott Powers and Mark Lazerus did a poll that, based on their beat, targeted Blackhawks fans specifically. I wrote about

One bold prediction for each Flyer in 2026-27 -
With the countdown to the season opener less than six weeks away, and training camp less than a month from starting, it’s a good time to see what might be in the cards for each Flyer on the roster for the 2026-27 season. But let’s push the envelop a bit, and set the bar a little higher than usual. Here then is one bold prediction for each Flyers player regarding the upcoming 84-game season. Some might be a bit lofty. Of course, if every one of these predictions became reality, the Flyers would probably have 450 goals for the season and be in the area of a .939 points percentage. Please don’t bet your house or life savings on any of these suggestions. You’ve been warned. Goalies Dan Vladar With 29 regula

The Flyers could make the ultimate gamble with Toronto’s first-round pick -
The Philadelphia Flyers have one foot in being a somewhat competitive hockey team and the other foot still in a rebuild. While they are coming off a surprisingly successful season, making the playoffs and even winning a round, they aren’t going to be going all-in on this current roster and think that they’re just a couple pieces away from hoisting the Stanley Cup in the not-too-distant future. It’s a difficult dance to perform and it’s extremely unorthodox in this modern NHL. We’re so used to teams bottoming out completely, drafting a couple of very good prospects with a handful of draft selections in the top five, building that core up, and then starting to flip a switch into being competitive again. The Flyers are not bottoming out completely and maybe their

Blackhawks History: Expansion Draft Losses -
With the NHL continuing to talk about expansion, the Blackhawks might need to start considering who they might protect in a future expansion draft. As talks progress around potential ownership groups in Texas and potentially Atlanta, Arizona or Quebec, the Blackhawks are still trying to build the core of a competitive team. That won’t make things easy if/when the time comes to decide which players are deemed “untouchable.” Which brings us to today’s Blackhawks history lesson. Since the Gary Bettman-led NHL started to aggressively expand 35 years ago, the Blackhawks have been forced to make similar choices. There have been some tough decisions made. And, in one instance, there was a crazy game played with a goaltender in net for Chicago who wouldn’t appear in another NHL game. Going all the way back to the Sharks joining the NHL in 1991, here’s the Blackhawks’ history of losing players to NHL expansion.
