Carter Bear & MBN Bring What Detroit Is Missing -
Two first round picks. Two impact players. Two very different journeys that revealed exactly what the Detroit Red Wings need moving forward. Michael Brandsegg-Nygard gave Team Norway a huge boost at the IIHF World Championship after Grand Rapids was eliminated from the Calder Cup Playoffs. MBN finished the tournament with 3 goals and 3 assists in 6 games, helping Norway capture a Bronze Medal in overtime over Canada. Physical, relentless, and capable of producing offensively, MBN continues to prove he may be NHL ready sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, Carter Bear left everything on the ice at the Memorial Cup. Bear finished the tournament with 4 goals and 1 assist in 5 games as Everett battled all the way to the Final. But it wasn’t just the production that stood out — it was the emotion. After the loss, Bear broke down in tears. That passion matters. Detroit fans have repeatedly questioned whether this team has enough fire, enough urgency, enough players willing to wear their heart

Silvertips concede in Memorial Cup final to OHL’s Kitchener Rangers -
Kelowna, B.C.- A historic season for one of the WHL's most consistent clubs has come to an end. After setting a franchise record for wins (57), collecting a second-straight regular season title and the club's first WHL Championship, the Everett Silvertips fell 6-2 to the Kitchener Rangers in the Memorial Cup Final. "We rode this train as long as we could," 2026 WHL Coach of the Year Steve Hamilton said. "We played 91 games and never lost back-to-back. I don't know if any other teams can say that. Incredibly proud of our group. I mean, we're WHL champions. This is the greatest team in Everett Silvertips history." NHL Draft-eligible Matias Vanhanen (NHL CSS: 54) and Landon DuPont, the WHL's first exceptional-status defenceman, were also named to the 2026 Memorial Cup All-Star Team. Everett reached the title match in its tournament debut, despite having the fewest NHL prospects (five) of any of the four participating teams. Vanhanen and Detroit Red Wings first-round

Carter Bear Is BUILT For Detroit 🔥 | Memorial Cup Final Preview -
Carter Bear and the Everett Silvertips are heading to the Memorial Cup Final after a dominant 6-1 victory over Chicoutimi. Bear once again stepped up with a goal and an assist, continuing an outstanding tournament run as he prepares to play the final game of his junior career. The more I watch Carter Bear, the more I believe he checks some of the most important boxes Detroit has been missing. Skill matters — but grit, passion, physicality, and compete level matter too. Bear brings energy every shift, creates chaos around the net, stands up for teammates, and has already shown chemistry playing alongside highly skilled players. Now the focus shifts to what comes next. Whether his next stop is Grand Rapids or eventually Detroit, Bear looks like the type of player Red Wings fans are going to love. DuPont scores twice in return, Silvertips rout Sagueneens 6-1 to advance to 2026 Memorial Cup Final -
Kelowna, B.C.- The Everett Silvertips will play for the Memorial Cup in the club's first-ever appearance at the tournament. Projected top 2027 NHL Draft pick Landon DuPont scored twice in his return to the lineup to seal a 6-1 win, while netminder Anders Miller denied 25 of 26 opportunities for a .962 save percentage. "In a game like this when you win or go home," DuPont said postgame. "No guy in that room wanted to go home. I think we did a good job showing up and just mentally... It's not hard getting up from your nap and heading to this game. It's pretty cool." As the teams settled into a nervy first period, alternate captain Jaxsin Vaughan drew first blood as the 'Tips capitalized on a costly Chicoutimi turnover. Lukas Kaplan stole the puck inside the Sagueneens blueline and immediately put it up to a lone Vaughan for a point-blank shot in the slot that was destined for the top corner. https://twitter.com/TheWHL/status/2060535392949194867 Utah Mammoth Thomas

2026 Memorial Cup Semi-Final Player to Watch: Matias Vanhanen, Everett Silvertips -
Kelowna, B.C.- In December of 2025, Silvertips Head Coach Steve Hamilton knew it was time for a talk with rookie forward Matias Vanhanen. Heading into the holiday break, the youngster had shown tremendous ability in his first season of hockey in North America, but his point totals were looking a little lopsided with seven goals and 37 assists. "We were just noticing early on- powerplays, especially- he was reluctant to shoot," Hamilton explained. "Everybody does their homework and does the pre-scout, and suddenly they're just taking away his passing options, and then as soon as he started to turn the corner and go downhill looking to shoot as well, now you can't just assume that he's passing, and it's made him even more valuable, more dangerous on the ice. He has a heck of a shot, you know. It's just trusting it. He's got all the weapons he needs. I think a lot of it is just mindset, too. Remembering Claude Lemieux | The Rivalry That Defined Hockey -
The Detroit Red Wings and Colorado Avalanche rivalry of the 1990s created an entire generation of hockey fans. It was intense, emotional, physical, and unforgettable. And at the center of that storm was Claude Lemieux. For many Red Wings fans, Lemieux was the villain. The player you loved to hate. But as the years passed, something interesting happened. The respect grew. Today, I want to talk candidly about the rivalry that helped shape Detroit into a four-time Stanley Cup champion, about the impact Claude Lemieux had on the game of hockey, and about the tragic circumstances surrounding his passing. “To have a great hero, you need a great villain.” Claude Lemieux played that role better than almost anyone in NHL history. Off the ice, relationships evolved. Former rivals became friends. Darren McCarty shared a heartfelt tribute, showing how much respect existed between competitors once the battles were over. This video is also about something bigger than hockey. Mental health matters. I

Could Detroit Draft Carter Bear’s PERFECT Linemate? | Vanhanen’s Stock is EXPLODING -
The chemistry between Carter Bear and Matias Vanhanen was on full display once again as the Everett Silvertips shut out the Kelowna Rockets 4-0 at the 2026 Memorial Cup in Kelowna. Vanhanen continued his incredible playoff run with another huge performance, scoring a goal and adding an assist while being named the game’s first star. After exploding for 12 goals and 12 assists during Everett’s WHL playoff run, Vanhanen now has 3 goals and 1 assist in just 3 Memorial Cup games. And here’s the crazy part… Last year, when Carter Bear was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the first round, Matias Vanhanen went completely undrafted. That won’t happen again. At this point, NHL scouts and general managers around the league are absolutely paying attention, and there’s a real chance Vanhanen is gone long before Detroit’s later picks. But IF he’s still available when the Red Wings step to the podium at pick #47 in the second round, should Steve Yzerman take the chance? Because the potential her

Kelowna, B.C.- It was Christmas in May at Prospera Place with an all-colour jersey matchup between the Kelowna Rockets and Everett Silvertips in the Memorial Cup round-robin finale. MBN IS ON FIRE! 🔥 2 Game Winners at IIHF Worlds | Future Red Wings Star Emerging? | 7 Minute Wings -
Michael Brandsegg-Nygard is making a BIG statement at the IIHF World Championship — and Detroit Red Wings fans are taking notice. After the disappointing playoff exit for the Grand Rapids Griffins, MBN wasted no time jumping on a plane to Switzerland to join Team Norway… and his impact has been immediate. In just TWO games: 🔥 3 Goals 🔥 1 Assist 🔥 TWO Game-Winning Goals In his debut for Norway, MBN scored twice including the game winner. Then in a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory against Denmark, he scored AGAIN and added an assist — including the overtime winner just 13 seconds into OT. This comes after a season full of adjustment and growth for the 2024 first-round pick. Brandsegg-Nygard made the Detroit Red Wings roster out of training camp, but after 9 NHL games he was reassigned to Grand Rapids. Once in the AHL, MBN began finding his game: 🏒 20 Goals 🏒 44 Points 🏒 3rd on the Griffins in scoring as a rookie And when the playoffs arrived? He elevated his game even more: ⚡ 4 Goals ⚡ 4 A

2026 Memorial Cup Game 4 Player to Watch: Carter Bear, Everett Silvertips -
Kelowna, B.C.- Time to Bear down. Detroit Red Wings prospect Carter Bear comes by his reputation as a quiet leader and fierce competitor honestly. The 19-year-old from Winnipeg, Man., is dialled in with a massive opportunity on the line on Monday night. Everett can secure a berth in the 2026 Memorial Cup championship match with a round-robin win against the OHL title-winning Kitchener Rangers. The Blueshirts have been idle since Friday, when they toppled the host Kelowna Rockets with a 5-0 win. Bear and the Tips are now tasked with trying to become the first team to get the puck past San Jose Sharks goaltending prospect Christian Kirsch, who made 24 saves for the first shutout of the tournament. Everett's top line of Bear, Seattle Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen and NHL Draft-eligible Matias Vanhanen will do their best to make life miserable for Kirsch and the Kitchener defence. Bear buried the game-winning goal in a hardscrabble 5-3 win over the Chicoutimi Sag

Five moments that defined the Everett Silvertips’ season -
Kelowna, B.C.- The 2025-26 season is, undoubtedly, the greatest in Everett Silvertips history. And that's no small feat coming from one of the league's most consistent franchises. While the 'Tips bask in the glow of WHL Championship glory and gear up for their Memorial Cup debut, we're looking back on five key moments that helped make it all possible. A 'Tip' of the hat The Silvertips entered 2025-26 as the reigning regular-season champions, but had designs on winning it all from the get-go. Everett was hot out of the gates with three hat tricks in the first two weeks. After falling behind 3-0 in the second period to the Wenatchee Wild in the season opener, Zackary Shantz bagged his first career hat trick to force a shootout where Shantz, NHL Draft-eligible Matias Vanhanen and Nolan Chastko all lit the lamp to earn a 4-3 comeback win. On October 3, 2025, Seattle Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen picked up a hat trick of his own in a 7-1 drubbing
