Former Erie Otters Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Aaron Cooney is taking the next step in his broadcasting career, joining the Anaheim Ducks as a Play-by-Play Announcer for the club’s 24/7 audio network, Ducks Stream. Cooney joins the Ducks broadcast team after spending the past three seasons as the television and radio play-by-play broadcaster of the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League. General Manager Dave Brown and Director of Hockey Operations Scott Grieve announced today the Erie's fourth round pick in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection Christian Del Buono has signed an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Del Buono spent last season playing at Upper Canada College where he collected 85 points (40G+45A) over the course of 67 games with their U16AAA program. Gibson comes to Erie by way of the Ajax/Pickering Raiders where a season ago he was a rock between the pipes, posting a 7-4-0 record across 15 games and a 2.20 goals against average. Maksim Sokolovskii is already showing off and proving some doubters wrong. When the Philadelphia Flyers selected the 6-foot-8 defenseman out of the London Knights at 27th overall a couple months ago, eyes were rolling from all over the fan base. General Manager Dave Brown and Director of Hockey Operations Scott Grieve announced that Erie has signed their first-round pick in the CHL Import Draft Paul Schuster to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The Austrian-born forward was selected by Erie with the #19 overall pick in the import draft and becomes the second and final Otter taken in this draft to sign with the team. Schuster, a native of Wien, Austria was the first ever Austrian-born player to be selected by Erie in the CHL Import Draft. In his native country a season ago, Schuster would suit-up in 42 games between the EC Salzburg U20 program and the RB Hockey Juniors program in the Alps Hockey League.
