The Flint Firebirds have acquired import forward Simon Belohorsky from the Guelph Storm in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2028 OHL Priority Selection and an eighth-round pick in 2027.

The Flint Firebirds have acquired forward Simon Belohorsky from the Guelph Storm in exchange for a 2028 fifth-round pick and a 2027 eighth-round pick in the OHL Priority Selection. The deal sees Flint add a promising young import forward ahead of the 2026-27 season, while Guelph acquires additional draft capital for future OHL Priority Selections. Belohorsky appeared in 34 games for the Storm during the 2025-26 campaign, recording nine goals and four assists for 13 points in his rookie OHL season. The native of Liberec, Czechia, was originally selected by Guelph in the second round of the 2025 CHL Import Draft and quickly established himself as a player with significant offensive upside. Prior to arriving in North America, Belohorsky starred in Czechia's junior ranks, producing 42 points in 24 games with Bili Tygri Liberec's U17 club during the 2024-25 season. A native of St. Louis, Mo., Komadoski appeared in 50 regular-season games with the Firebirds during the 2025-26 campaign, recording three assists while accumulating 34 penalty minutes. On Tuesday, New Jersey Devils prospect Trenten Bennett was traded to the Flint Firebirds in a move that's meant to set them up for success in the 2026-27 season.

The Flint Firebirds have acquired goaltender Trenten Bennett from the Owen Sound Attack in exchange for four draft picks. A Kitchener, Ontario native, Bennett was originally selected by the Attack in the fourteenth round, 274th overall, of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-8, 207-pound goaltender spent parts of two seasons in Owen Sound, appearing in 33 regular season games while recording a 3.69 GAA and a 0.901 SV%. Following a strong season with the Kemptville 73's of the CCHL, Bennett was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round, 99th overall, of the 2025 NHL Draft. Well…my off-season here at Arctic Ice Hockey hasn’t began well, as it has almost been 2 weeks since my last article on the site. That lapse in time saw a few things happen involving the Winnipeg Jets organization, including the re-signing of bottom six forward Cole Koepke, the True North club getting unlucky at the Lottery Draft and falling to the 8th overall selection, and the Manitoba Moose being eliminated from the American Hockey League playoffs. All that skipped over because I decided to buy a new game for my XBOX and ended up discovering there was a 2 for 1 sale on. As a result, I have found myself playing a lot of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla & Anno 117: Pax Romana to the detriment of everything else. I wasn’t totally ignoring the hockey world, though I have watched surprisingly little of the playoffs to date. I certainly wasn’t disappointed that GM Kevin C
