Kapanen centred the first line for Timrå and was their best player in this game, however it was all for naught, as Frölunda’s fourth line smothered them. Timrå also looked generally fatigued, and the big push that they needed at the end of the game never came to fruition.

Kapanen is now eligible to return to Canada and play for the Laval Rocket, a solid addition for a team that looks poised for a deep playoff run. The Rocket has already qualified for the playoffs, which could make Kapanen’s transition into the team a bit easier, and perhaps provide him with a chance for some recovery following a strong SHL season.
Kapanen was held to three points in six games in the playoffs, two goals (one empty net) and one assist. Overall, his SHL season should be considered a success, as he scored 35 (15G, 20A) points in 36 games during his time with Timrå.
