The latest Videotron Player of the Week in the QMJHL is Blainville-Boisbriand Armada goaltender Benjamin Lelièvre. In a pair of games, the 19-year-old from St-Philippe-de-la-Prairie, Quebec went a perfect 2-0-0-0 with a 1.48 GAA, a shutout and a .954% save percentage as the Armada won twice in three chances over the weekend. On Friday night at home, Lelièvre made 28 saves, including all nine in the third period, allowing the Armada to rally from three one-goal deficits before emerging with a 4-3 overtime triumph over the Rimouski Océanic. It was Lelièvre’s first home ice victory as a member of the Armada. In Gatineau on Sunday afternoon, the third-year netminder kicked things up a level, stopping all 34 shots he faced in a 2-0 win over the Olympiques. It was Lelièvre’s second career QMJHL shutout and earned him first star accolades on the day. Sunday’s victory in Gatineau improved Lelievre’s record to 4-4-0-0 on the year.

The NHL Central Scouting released earlier today it’s first rankings of the regular season, listing the top prospects to watch ahead of the 2027 NHL Entry Draft. The list features a total of 53 QMJHL developed players that have garnered the attention of NHL scouting experts so far this year. From that total, four prospects have been labeled as potential first-round selections: Jamie Glance and Alexis Joseph of the Saint John Sea Dogs, Malik L’Italien of the Halifax Mooseheads and Carter Meyer of the Québec Remparts. The players on the preliminary list with an A rating are considered as first-round candidates. Players with B ratings are considered as possible second- or third-round picks. Those with a C rating are potential fourth- or fifth-round selections, while players receiving a W grade are viewed as possible sixth- or seventh-round picks. Four QMJHLers have received a B rating so far this season, while 11 have been graded with a C and 26 more find themselves in the W rat

A 6-2 loss would send the Islanders winless back to PEI -Cape Breton, NS — A less than a 24 hour turnaround time was on the docket for the Charlottetown Islanders on this beautiful fall Sunday. The team stayed in Nova Scotia, but took their talents from Halifax over to Sydney for a afternoon matchup against the Eagles, a team they've had success against so far this season with a shootout win and regulation win. After a conversation with John Mitchell post game Saturday, three keys of the game for the team Sunday would be discipline, puck management, and playing fast hockey - a pace of play Mitchell has been preaching all season long. All three keys playing a major factor in closing their losing streak before heading into a hard road trip to Newfoundland the following weekend. Seth Ronan got his third start between the pipes for the Islanders, giving Donald Hickey a rest after Saturday night's 6-3 loss to the Mooseheads. The Isles were coming into this game with four straight losses, a rut they were desperately trying to get out of and something Head Coach, John Mitchell says was bound to happen at some point this season, they just need get some confidence back in their systems. Mitchell heading into this weekend said there's no need to reformulate everything they've been working on simply because of a few losses, it's all about polishing things up and continuing to work as a group to get back on track. Associate Coach Josh Hepditch Relieved of Duties -2026-10-20 The Halifax Mooseheads announced today that Associate Coach Josh Hepditch has been relieved of his duties with the organization. A native of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Hepditch joined the Mooseheads prior to the 2025-26 season and was primarily responsible for coaching the club's defencemen and overseeing the power play unit. Before arriving in Halifax, Hepditch served as Associate Coach with the UNB Reds men's hockey program following several seasons as an Assistant Coach with the Moncton Wildcats. The Halifax Mooseheads thank Josh for his contributions to the organization and wish him and his family all the best in the future. Each week throughout the regular season, the QMJHL will highlight one prospect from the league who is eligible for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. The standout prospect of Week 5 of the regular season was Shawinigan Cataractes centerman Frédéric Bergeron. By recording at least one point in every game last week, the second-year forward helped the Cataractes earn five out of a possible eight points in the standings. Bergeron first recorded an assist in the Cataractes’ 7-4 victory over the Newfoundland Regiment in their Thanksgiving matchup on Monday afternoon. The QMJHL’s latest Videotron Player of the Week is Val-d’Or Foreurs forward, Philippe Veilleux. The 19-year-old helped the Foreurs end the week with four wins in as many games, leading the charge thanks to his four goals, four assists and +5 differential. On Wednesday night, Val-d’Or showed no signs of rust after travelling over to Charlottetown to take on the Islanders. The green and gold squad skated to a convincing 10-0 win, led in part by Veilleux’s two-goal and two-assist outing. The Herd took a 3-1 lead into the final period of regulation only to watch the Foreurs score twice in the final 4:21 to tie it, which included the equalizer coming with the Val d'Or net empty at the other end of the ice and just 15.2 seconds remaining on the clock. League goal scoring leader Maxime Sauthier buried his 12th of the season to cut the deficit to 3-2 with Eddy Doyle watching from the penalty box following a late delay of game penalty, then it was QMJHL points leader Philippe Veilleux who found a way to beat Jack Fichthorn from a tough angle in the dying moments to send Halifax to their seventh overtime game in nine outings this season. NOTES FROM THE GAME - Two second period goals from Maxim Schäfer gave the Cape Breton Eagles a lead they wouldn't relinquish as they defeated the Saint John Sea Dogs 4-1 on Saturday in Saint John. - Defensemen Aiden McCullough & Noah Jettelson added tallies for the Eagles in the third period. Jacob De Ladurantaye & Eliot Litalien each added two assists in the win. - Lucas Beckman stopped 16 of 17 shots in the win, while Samuel Meloche stopped 28 of 32 in the loss. There was as much action in the penalty box as on the ice in the first 19 minutes, as the shots were just 6-5 in favour of Saint John, but there were two reviews for major penalties and one goal review. The would-be Saint John goal was ruled no goal on the ice and remained so after a video review. Neither penalty review resulted in a major penalty. The QMJHL’s latest Videotron Player of the Week is Mathis Dufour of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. In a pair of games, the 19-year-old winger scored four times and added four assists as the Sags split their set of weekend contests. On Friday night at home, the first-year forward showed what the Saguenéens fans hope is a sign of things to come. Dufour assisted on a game-tying goal early in the first, then proceeded to net a natural hat trick in Chicoutimi’s 4-2 victory over the Cape Breton Eagles. Dufour was selected second star of the night for his efforts. Those efforts carried over into Sunday afternoon’s game in Quebec. Though the Sags would eventually fall to the Remparts in a 7-6 offensive battle, Dufour was a bright spot for the visitors. The rookie from Rhode Island was absolutely dialed by making 27 saves through regulation and overtime plus another five in the shootout as he denied every shooter the Volts sent out on the ice. Nathan Langlois played the hero by scoring the only goal of the five-round shootout to end it after he also scored the only goal for the Herd in regulation. Box Score Mertz wasn't just solid, but he made several spectacular stops and non bigger than his miraculous dive back across the crease midway through the second period to get the glove out and rob Ottawa Senators prospect Louis-Felix Bourque point blank. The Herd were back at Scotiabank Centre after playing five-of-their-first-six games away from home to start the QMJHL season and made it count by dominating the rival Huskies for their third victory of the year. The game kicked off a stretch of six consecutive games at home for Halifax which will be the longest homestand of the season. If there’s one thing Brad Cuzner knows, it’s how to appreciate different perspectives. As a player, he wore the sweater of his hometown Cape Breton Eagles for two seasons – until he closed out his career with his former rivals, the Halifax Mooseheads. He’s spent several years within both the Business Development and Scouting and Recruitment sides of the game. And it’s that well-rounded background that has led him to his current role as Manager of Hockey Operations & Recruitment with the Mooseheads. After four seasons in the ‘Q’, followed by another four at St. Francis Xavier University, where he earned his business degree, Cuzner, who currently resides in Halifax with, as he puts it, “my beautiful girlfriend and her awesome dog”, took a look around and realized rather quickly where he wanted to go next. “I saw a lot of my friends getting into careers in sales, or finance, or as lawyers,” Cuzner recalls.

The most recent Videotron Player of the Week in the QMJHL is winger Alexey Vlasov of the Victoriaville Tigres. The 18-year-old from Chelyabinsk, Russia scored six times and added an assist as the Tigres went a perfect 3-0-0-0 on the week. On Wednesday night at home, Vlasov came out firing. By the end of the first, the second-year forward had a pair of goals. By the end of regulation, he’d scored twice more. By the time the game was over, the Tigres had emerged with a 6-5 overtime triumph over the Charlottetown Islanders. It was Vlasov’s first four-goal game in the ‘Q’ and made him the obvious choice for first star on the night. On Saturday night in Baie-Comeau, Vlasov couldn’t find the back of the net, but his lone assist in the game proved vital. The Herd have now played six games in the QMJHL season and they have gone to OT in five of them. Unfortunately for the Mooseheads, they lost both of them this weekend in New Brunswick which included a 4-3 defeat in Moncton on Friday. Box Score Mateo Nobert opened the scoring in front of 2,119 fans at TD Station on Sunday and Halifax got off to a solid start in the opening few minutes before things got rocky for the visitors later in the period. 2026-10-02 The Halifax Mooseheads and Moncton Wildcats met in another entertaining game on Friday night at the Avenir Centre as the teams have now gone to overtime in both of their early season matchups. Mooseheads Captain Owen Phillips beat the buzzer in regulation by blasting home a shot right off the draw with just 2.4 seconds to play in the third period to help Halifax tie the game 3-3 and force the extra period. NORTH BAY, Ont. — Coach Ryan Oulahen of the North Bay Battalion will serve as head coach of the Canadian Hockey League team in the 2026 CHL USA Prospects Challenge, it was announced Thursday. The two-game series, bringing together top 2027 National Hockey League Draft prospects from the Ontario Hockey League, Western Hockey League and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, will be played Dec. 1-2 at Chicoutimi and Quebec City against the U.S. National Under-18 Team. ST. JOHN’S, NL — The Newfoundland Regiment blanked the Halifax Mooseheads in the rematch as they bounced back with a 6-0 victory on Saturday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre. After settling for a single point on Friday in a 4-3 overtime loss, Newfoundland took no time to get on the scoresheet on Saturday as Alexis Michaud opened the scoring just 3:30 into the contest. Tyson Goguen and Matthew Frost got in on the scoring before the midway mark of the opening frame before Michaud added a second before the first intermission to make it 4-0 Regiment thru 20 minutes. Frost fired home his second of the night and fifth of the season early in the 2nd to make it 5-0 after 40 minutes. The 18-year-old from Sherbrooke, Quebec helped the Huskies sweep their weekend slate of games by going 2-0-0-0 with a shutout, a 0.50 GAA and a .977% save percentage. On Friday night at home, Raymond got off on the right foot in his first appearance following time in NHL training camp with the Colorado Avalanche. The sophomore netminder steered aside all 24 shots he faced as the Huskies defeated the Drummondville Voltigeurs 6-0.
