Sweden native Isak Rosen has been developing at a steady pace these past few years – both prior to and since his drafting. In 2018-2019, he made his debut in Leksand (under 18 team) and then one season later with the Swedish Hockey League. During this time, he led all 17-year-olds of the junior league in points with 35 total. During his participation in the International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Championship – in the same year he was drafted by the Sabres – Rosen contributed nine points in seven games, helping his team secure the bronze medal. The following year, he tallied five points and Sweden earned third place again.

As he has gained experience in the AHL over the last three regular and post-seasons, Rosen is inching closer to more NHL ice time (hopefully this year?!) and he has certainly earned it. Of his 28 goals, six of them were with the man-advantage with as many being game-winners. He also had a career-high in points for the Americans last season and has shown he can contribute not only throughout the regular season, but in the playoffs as well. The winger averaged almost a point per game in the post-season and previously led the AHL in scoring until he was called up to Buffalo at the tail end of the regular NHL season.

Though Rosen does not thrive as a two-way player (yet), his impressive speed and ability to help his teammates create plays are what stand out. He has been criticized for being too passive with the puck, but this could easily improve with more call-up time and gained confidence. Perhaps he can serve as one of the m
