T McGee’s Halloween NHL Mock Draft | Scandinavian Delight - Excitement! DBTB – Let me be honest: I am getting excited about this Class. There you go. Now you know. Will the Sabres have a 1st round pick this year? Will they wind up with more than one? Who can say? Nobody at this time last year thought they would be selecting at #4 overall AND #20, but that’s exactly what happened. So strange things can occur. Thus, I will continue to follow these young prospects, really more for my own entertainment, but also for you, DBTB, in the event you have a hankering for some junior hockey or are, like Casey Kasem before you, keeping your feet on the ground while reaching for (future) stars! Why, McGee? What makes you like this year’s class? Let’s get into it. First off, I think drafts are largely valued by how many first-line centers might be in the class. Some of the great drafts – 1979, 1984, 2003, 2015 – have been anchored

Going into Friday night’s matchup, the Sudbury Wolves found themselves at the top of the Eastern Conference, undefeated so far this season. But the London Knights don’t shy away from a challenge. London showed up offensively, and the first period saw some big hits and altercations as both teams looked to set the tone early. When Jaxon Cover took a knee-on-knee hit from Sudbury defenceman Liam Ladds, Thomas Zocco didn’t hesitate to drop the gloves in response. Both players received a major for fighting and a minor for kneeing and instigating, respectively. With just two minutes left in the first frame, Marcus Nordmark opened the scoring for London. It was his second of the season, in addition to a game-winning shootout goal in Kitchener earlier this week. The second was fast-moving, with the Knights more than doubling the Wolves shots on goal and at the other end of the ice, goaltender Aleksei Medvedev came through with some big saves yet again, keeping Sudbury off the board. After a strong start to the season, the Knights are facing their first real test of adversity after suffering their second straight loss Friday night, falling 4-3 to the Erie Otters in a shootout finish. Still missing from the lineup was defenceman Maksim Sokolovskii, who remains week-to-week with a lower-body injury. The Knights started strong, building a two-goal lead with goals from Eloan Le Gallic and Cohen Bidgood. 19-year-old Bidgood has been setting a great example for this new-era Knights team. Now in his third year in London, his progression has been fun to watch. After recording 14 goals last season, Bidgood has already scored four in six games this year, continuing to prove himself as an important piece of the lineup. The Otters found their way back into the game in the second period, scoring twice within a minute of each other to erase London’s lead and tie things up heading into the third. Flint Buries the Knights, 7-2 in London -LONDON, Ontario – The Flint Firebirds scored a season-high seven goals on Sunday afternoon in London, en route to a 7-2 victory over the London Knights at the Canada Life Place. Jimmy Lombardi recorded a career-high five points as five Firebirds posted multi-point performances. HOW IT HAPPENED: Jimmy Lombardi opened the scoring, 30 seconds into the contest for Flint. Darian Anderson fired a shot from the high slot, and Lombardi grabbed the rebound and wrapped it around the goal to put the Firebirds up 1-0. Lucas Nutting added another goal for Flint in the first. Josh Bonnyman ripped a puck wide of the net, and it ricocheted onto the stick of Nutting. He fired it from the right circle through traffic, past Aleksei Medvedev to increase the Firebirds’ lead. The London Knights faced their first loss of the season Sunday afternoon, falling 7-2 to the Flint Firebirds at Canada Life Place. Not exactly the result London was hoping for after an undefeated run to start the season. Heading into Sunday’s matchup, the Knights sat at the top of the Western Conference while the Flint Firebirds were among the conference’s bottom teams. Just 29 seconds into the game, newly appointed Flint captain Jimmy Lombardi opened the scoring with a wrap-around goal. Flint defenceman Lucas Nutting made it 2-0. The Knights battled through a 5-on-3 penalty kill unscathed, but Flint carried a two-goal advantage into the second period. London came out hungry for a comeback and got the building going when Alex Campeau dropped the gloves with Flint’s Zack Bleick in the most heated exchange of the afternoon. Flint added another on the power play before London finally found the back of the net; Thomas Zocco with his fourth goal of the season, to put the Knights on the

In the days when GMs negotiated schedules among themselves at a summer meeting, the legendary Kilrea was known to start the season with a three- or four-game road trip. “He didn’t care about the wins and losses,” noted Oulahen. “He just wanted the team to get on the road and bond and be together and be on the bus and have meals and all that.” The heavy schedule didn’t appear to faze Oulahen, who suggested the Troops, with a won-lost-extended record of 2-2-0 in the young season, are
