Brendan Gallagher ‘moving on’ | Highlights and quotes from Montreal Canadiens end-of-season media availability -
The Montreal Canadiens’ magical run to the Eastern Conference final ended with a sour taste after a five-game series loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Recency bias is normal, but there aren’t many Habs fans who would have expected a trip to the third round of the playoffs when training camp started last fall. The Canadiens still have holes to fill, but showed impressive progress, making the playoffs for a second consecutive season. It will surely be a busy and important summer for the team, but for now it is the time of year where players get one last chance to look back at their season. Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes started the morning off. Hughes said that if you told him how this season would go, he wouldn’t know if he’d believe you. « Si tu m’avais dit l’an dernier qu’on aurait fini la saison avec 106 points et qu’on se serai

IN PHOTOS: Montreal Victoire Walter Cup parade -
Over 20,000 people crowded downtown Montreal and the Quarter des Spectacles as the Montreal Victoire celebrated their first Walter Cup championship in style. Today we have a gallery of photos from the event. All photos are by Sheila P. The photos provide a glimpse of the atmosphere that is hard to put into words. Players were obviously enjoying themselves, but there are also moments where they are clearly trying to soak it all in. If you’re wondering why defender Amanda Boulier had a tuba, well, the answer is she lost a bet. All season, Laura Stacey and Boulier had a running bet on which players the cameras would focus on in the pre-game locker room shots. Stacey won the last round, and by extension, the season-long bet. The result was Boulier needing to do a solo with an instrument of the team’s choosing on top of Mount Royal. Winning the championship meant that she also got to bring it to the celebration. (For reference: Boulier won last

Grading Alexander Zharovsky’s 2025-26 season -
In his first professional season, Alexander Zharovsky stood out for all the right reasons, not only points but in overall play and skill that transferred well from the Juniors into the pro ranks. The thing that benefited Zharovsky the most was the fact that Salavat Yulaev is a relatively small-market team within the KHL and the team had some financial difficulties at the start of the season. Because of that, the door was left open for Zharovsky to play a bigger role than he would have in a big-market team such as SKA, CSKA or Dynamo. Expectations for Zharovsky were limited before the season started, however under his coach, former NHLer Viktor Kozlov, the forward blossomed. Even if he was injured at the time the season started, he came back into the line up with a bang with four points in three games. The KHL was quickly back on the radar of the Montreal Canadiens faithful.

‘I’m so proud to play in Montreal’: The city provides the backdrop on an unforgettable celebration -
When the red double-decker bus taking the Montreal Victoire from the Verdun Auditorium turned on Ste-Catherine street, Victoire goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens was at the front of the bus, eager to see what awaited them. What she saw, down the famous street no stranger to parades celebrating professional hockey teams, was a sea of people. So many that in her own words, she couldn’t even see pavement. That’s when the 32-year-old goaltender, known for her calm, stoic, unflappable, and composed demeanour on the ice that makes her one of the best goaltenders in the world, reached for her sunglasses. Not because of the sun that fittingly shone down on the Walter Cup champions and their fans on a perfect Spring day in the city, but because what she saw brought her to tears. “Never in my wildest dreams could I have hoped to win a championship in a professional league, even less in Montreal in front of my family, my friends, my province,”

The Opinion Of One -
from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,- Before you hand Mitch Marner the Conn Smythe Trophy, understand this: He scored seven playoff goals and 11 assists against Utah and Anaheim. Since then, he had no goals, three assists, in the one-sided Western Conference final against Colorado.- If you took the names off the back of the Carolina Hurricanes jerseys, you might not know one player from the other. They’re almost like an assembly-line hockey team. They all do their jobs. They all take care of their widgets. They should have all the name ‘Brind’Amour’ on the back of their jerseys. They are their coach’s team.- I really thought the Montreal Canadiens were ready to challenge for the Cup. I thought wrong. They were blown out in the Eastern Conference final. After one big period in Game 1, the Habs were outscored by Carolina 17-7 and outshot 151-76. There wasn’t a single moment in the final two games when they looked anything like a contender.
