Sidney Crosby’s status for Canada’s Olympic semifinal against Finland is up in the air, and while the hockey world holds its breath waiting for clarity, a genuinely compelling question has emerged: if the Pittsburgh Penguins captain can’t suit up, who steps in and wears the ‘C’ against the Finns? MCH LIVE From The Atrium ft. Colin Wilson & Dennis Seidenberg | Morning Cuppa Hockey -
Jonny Lazarus and Colby Cohen take Morning Cuppa Hockey on the road for a special LIVE episode from the Atrium inside Ideal Glass Studios in New York City — joined by Colin Wilson and Dennis Seidenberg for a full in-person hockey hang. The show opens with classic Cuppa chaos (yes, there’s a live beard-trim bit), then Jonny and Colby rewind to how their partnership started — including the LinkedIn message that kicked everything off. From there, the convo turns to player perspective: Seidenberg’s work with the Islanders (and why Matthew Schaefer has everyone buzzing), how young stars handle hype, and what international tournaments feel like from inside the room, with stories from Olympic stages and NHL benches. Then the crowd takes over with a long Q&A to close it out. #MorningCuppaHockey #Hockey #NHL #JonnyLazarus #ColbyCohen Timestamps 0:18 – Live cold open + beard-trim setup at Ideal Glass Studios 0:46 – “No bickering tonight” + setting the live-show vibe 1:22 – Jonny & Colby

I guess that’s why coaches preach playing a full 60 minutes. If hockey games were only 56 minutes long, neither Team Canada nor Team Finland would be through to the semi-finals. Sharks at Oilers game 52: Lines, game thread and how to watch -
The San Jose Sharks are in Alberta today for the first of two matchups against the Canadian teams there. The Sharks play the first of this season’s games against the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are 27-19-8 this season, but only 5-3-2 in the team’s last 10 games. Still, it’s good enough for second in the Pacific Division, just one point back from the Vegas Golden Knights, who sit in first. At the same time, the Sharks are five points back of the Oilers with three games in hand; a win tonight could help the Sharks make huge strides in the standings. The Oilers are led by Connor McDavid, who has 92 points in 54 games this season. He also leads the team with 33 goals. Leon Draisaitl is second on the team with 74 points in 51 games, a bit off his usual scoring pace. On the backend, Tristan Jarry is 15-5-2 this season with a .900 save percentage, while Connor Ingram is 5-3-1 with a .909 save percentage. Ingram is expected to start for the Oilers to

Quick bites: Sharks burned in Calgary -
With a chance at redemption after a blown 3-0 lead in neighboring Edmonton, the Sharks stumbled once again against the Calgary Flames. Two points lost to a Calgary team that’s struggled to win this season feel like a bit more than that, considering how tight the Western Conference playoff race has become, but the Sharks will have to move on and find a way to salvage more points out of this road trip. Will Smith got the game going early for San Jose with a power play goal, his fourth in the 7 games since his return from injury. The Sharks couldn’t build on that lead, however, before Calgary evened the score at 1 to end the first. The Sharks looked set to get a 5-on-3 power play late in that period, but a controversial call against the Sharks turned what could’ve been a great chance to take a 2-1 lead into the locker room into a 5 on 4 that the Sharks couldn’t strike on. Clearly animated, coach Ryan Warsofsky tried his best to dissuade the officials.

Quick bites: Sharks jump on Oilers early, flop in overtime -
The San Jose Sharks could not have asked for a better start in Edmonton. Less than two minutes into the game, the team jumped out to a two-goal lead against the Edmonton Oilers, with Collin Graf getting the first point on the board just 26 seconds into the game and Adam Gaudette adding a second one 1:11 later. A Michael Misa goal midway through the first period put the Sharks up 3-0 and with a comfortable lead, the team was in good shape. Knowing its opponent, San Jose was not content to sit back on its heels and ride out the rest of the game. Looking at Natural Stat Trick’s Corsi Differential in All Situations, you can see that through two periods, the Sharks did a very good job of sticking with a much more skilled and well-rounded Oilers team through two periods of the game.

Examining the Blackhawks’ recent power-play struggles -
The Chicago Blackhawks have one power play goal in their last 12 games. They had 33 opportunities on the man advantage during that time and were only been able to capitalize one time. Their power play currently ranks 20th overall with a 19.1 percent conversion rate. Before Connor Bedard was injured on Dec. 12, 31 games into the season, it was ranked 10th in the league at 22.2 percent. So, what happened? Power Play Numbers Well, reality for one. According to Natural Stat Trick, the Blackhawks rank dead last in expected goals share on the power play (86.13 percent). When their power play was ranked 10th in the NHL, their expected goals rate ranked 32nd at 82.51 percent. In those same 31 games, they were shooting at 20 percent — fourth in the league. That’s since dropped to 15.98 percent, which ranks 11th. The Hawks currently rank 19th overall in the rate of goals scored on the man advantage at 7.1 per 60 minutes. Before t

Well, after the Winnipeg Jets dropped a 2-0 contest to the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night, they have remained with the 2nd best odds for the upcoming 1st overall selection in June (a 13.5% shot at 1st overall, a 14.4% chance at the 2nd pick, odds of 30.7% for the 3rd selection, and 41.7% of the time will end up in 4th). GM for a Day: Jarmo goes Slightly Crazy Edition – BuffaloBuckeye -
After over a decade of pain, the Sabres are the closest they’ve ever been to ending the drought. All that time has been building up to the coming two-month stretch after the Olympic break. I’ve already made a post about my proposed deadline moves. In summary, say goodbye to Colten Ellis, Jacob Bryson, Maxim Strbak, and a 3rd round pick, and hello to Morgan Barron, Nick Blankenburg and a 5th rounder. Working off that roster, there’s still a lot to do in the offseason. In this fanpost, I’ll be going over the moves I’d like to make in what looks to be a very busy offseason for Jarmo. Objectives (1) Figure out the long-term futures of Tuch and Byram and replace them if necessary. Do they want to stay, and if they do, on what terms? If they don’t want to stay on reasonable terms, they need to go. If they do leave, it’s important to use either the trade itself or the extra asset flexibility from their departur
