The 2028 Memorial Cup presented by Kubota is headed to Québec City and to be hosted by a Remparts franchise filled with tournament history. One of the most iconic clubs across the CHL, both versions of the Remparts have hoisted junior hockey's most valuable trophy. The first iteration of the squad made three appearances and won in 1971 while the present day franchise has titles from 2006 and 2023 and also played in the 2003 and 2015 tournaments. All in all, Québec City has a longstanding connection to the Memorial Cup, having staged the 1971 championship and hosted the tournament in 1991, 2003, and 2015. The Remparts remain the most recent QMJHL team to win the Memorial Cup. On Thursday, October 22, the Peterborough Petes and Oshawa Generals continued the biggest and oldest rivalry in junior hockey at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. The game was the first of back to back games between the two teams for the OHL’s Rivalry Week, with the Generals hosting the Petes at the Tribute Communities Centre on Friday night. Thursday night was the inaugural Blue Ribbon Battle in support of Prostate Cancer Support Peterborough and Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada, with fundraising and awareness initiatives taking place throughout the game. After Oshawa scored four straight to take a 4-2 lead into the final frame, the Petes fought back with two third period goals, later winning the game in overtime by a score of 5-4 on a goal by Aiden Young. Peterborough Petes General Manager and Vice President of Operations Michael Oke announced today that the team has traded defenceman Thanasi Marentette to the WIndsor Spitfires in exchange for Windsor’s 10th round pick in 2030. “I want to thank Thanasi for everything he’s done for the Petes and the city of Peterborough over the last couple of years,” noted Oke. “He’s been a very hard worker, both on and off the ice, and has done a lot for the community through Marentette’s Mission. On Saturday, October 17, the Peterborough Petes hosted the Barrie Colts at the Peterborough Memorial Centre in front of their second sold-out crowd of the season. The game was presented by Mercedes-Benz Peterborough. The Petes would go 5/6 on the power play, winning the game by a score 6-0. Adam Novotný led the way for the Petes, scoring three goals and adding two assists for five points. Cooper Dennis also had a big game, scoring twice and adding two assists for four points. Cornwall, ON - After a thriller Friday night, the Frontenacs wrap up their weekend with a throwback to 1992, heading to Cornwall to take on the Brampton Steelheads in the second edition of the Seaway Shootout at the Cornwall Civic Complex. In Friday’s post-game interview, the game against the Generals was described as a fans' favourite but a coach's nightmare. While that feels like a slight exaggeration of the win, it was a wild scene at Slush Puppie Place. The Frontenacs spotted the Generals three goals before mounting their comeback. Tomas Pobezal, Robin Kuzma, and Nolan Snyder all scored in the second period. In the third period, the newest Frontenac, Cole Zurawski, tied the game at four, forcing overtime. Oshawa came out strong in the opening period, striking twice in the first six minutes to take control of the game. Generals captain Harrison Franssen opened the scoring at 3:39 before Ryan Hedley added to the lead at 5:47, putting Windsor down 2-0 heading into the second period. In the middle frame Oshawa continued to build its advantage. Brennan Huyck made it 3-0 at 12:02, and just 57 seconds later, Hedley scored his second of the night to push the Generals' lead to four. Facing a four-goal deficit entering the final period, Windsor wasted little time getting on the board. NORTH BAY, Ont. — Coach Ryan Oulahen of the North Bay Battalion will serve as head coach of the Canadian Hockey League team in the 2026 CHL USA Prospects Challenge, it was announced Thursday. The two-game series, bringing together top 2027 National Hockey League Draft prospects from the Ontario Hockey League, Western Hockey League and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, will be played Dec. 1-2 at Chicoutimi and Quebec City against the U.S. National Under-18 Team. The Team CHL staff is made up of those who led Canada to gold in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup tournament at Edmonton in August. Shorthanded goals were the order of the night, as both Robinson and Bogdan Yakushevsky scored while killing penalties for Windsor and Evgeny Dubrovtsev did the same for North Bay. Ethan Czata and Ryan Roobroek, acquired in separate trades from the Niagara IceDogs over the summer, led the way as the Guelph Storm downed the Oshawa Generals 6-0 for their first win of the season. Czata scored twice and Roobroek once in the win. The pair, along with 10 other Storm players, were at NHL camps last weekend and weren't around for the team's to losses. "With all of us back it's going to be a fun year, and this was just the start," said Czata, a Tampa Bay Lightning prospect. "Everyone here is a great player and it's just going to elevate everyone's game." "It's fun, every guy out there has speed and skill. It's definitely fun," Roobroek added.
