Regina, Sask. — Regina Pats forward Mathis Paull has been named to NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch List ahead of the 2027 NHL Draft, receiving a ‘C’ rating as a projected fourth- or fifth-round candidate. Paull, 17, is one of 54 WHL-developed players recognized on the list, which was unveiled Monday. The Vernon, B.C., product has recorded four points (2G-2A) in eight games with the Pats this season. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound left-shot forward is in his second season with Regina after tallying 13 points (7G-6A) in 55 games as a 16-year-old in 2025-26. His performance earned him the Nick Pappas Rookie of the Year Award as the Pats’ top rookie. Regina selected Paull in the third round, 48th overall, of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. Five players developed in the WHL have earned ‘A’ ratings, including defenceman Brock Cripps of the Prince Albert Raiders, forwards Noah Davidson of the Medicine Hat Tigers, Brock England of the Seattle Thunderbirds, and Kayden Stroeder of the Edmonton Oil Kings, along with defenceman Landon DuPont, who won a WHL Championship with the Everett Silvertips in 2026. MOOSE JAW, Sask. – Brennen Hocher broke a 4-4 tie midway through the third period and the Seattle Thunderbirds defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors Saturday, 6-4, at Temple Gardens Centre. With the result the T-Birds snapped a three game winless streak. The Thunderbirds are off until Wednesday when they continue their six-game trek through Saskatchewan with a stop in Swift Current to play the Broncos. Seattle (4-6-0-1) built a three goal lead through the first period. Matthew Gard got the T-Birds on the board at 3:42. Two minutes later Dominik Ripa made it 2-0 with his first WHL goal. The Swift Current Broncos saw their five-game winning streak come to an end Saturday night, falling 7-2 to the Prince Albert Raiders at the InnovationPlex. The Raiders got off to a quick start, capitalizing on two early power-play opportunities. Healthy Jamieson excited for ‘big jump’ to WHL -
By DANNY RODE – Last season was tough on Luke Jamieson. The hard-working winger broke his wrist in his first scrimmage of last year’s training camp with the Red Deer Rebels leading to an injury shorten campaign. He played just 19 games with the Calgary Edge U18 Prep team and three with the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AJHL. But this year things are looking up for the 17-year-old native of Calgary. The five-foot-11, 187-pound forward had a solid training camp and made the Rebels’ starting roster. While he hasn’t hit the scoresheet in his first three games he hasn’t looked out of place. “I had to overcome a lot of mental side effects from that for sure. But it was part of the process. I just kind of stuck with it and being able to come back and make it here and this far and stick with the team is unreal,” Jamieson said. “It’s been awesome, but an adjustment for sure.” Jamieson added that he’s enjoyed everything and making the team has been “a good way for me to unde

A fast paced first period saw both teams garner double digit shots in the first period, with Medicine Hat outshooting Edmonton 11-10. Each team had a single power play in the first period, with neither able to capitalize on their first man advantages of the game. The opening goal came from Yaroslav Bryzgalov in just his second game back from Vancouver Canucks Training Camp. It's a weekend sweep for the Rebels, after Friday's win in Lethbridge, as they improve their early season record to 2-1-0-1.
