NHL Prospect Watch: Pittsburgh Penguins -
In the lead-up to the 2026-27 hockey season, we’re diving into the WHL prospect pool for every NHL team. To be included in this list, a player must be recently drafted, signed to an NHL contract, or meet the NHL’s criteria for rookie status. The Pittsburgh Penguins created one of the most memorable moments of the 2026 NHL Draft when they selected the superstar Ruck twins from the Medicine Hat Tigers. Harrison Brunicke Six-foot-3, 196-pound defenceman Harrison Brunicke skated into history in 2025-26 when he became the first South African-born skater to make his NHL debut. Brunicke, 20, ended up netting his first NHL goal in nine games with the Pens before getting more ice time with the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He had another eight points (1G-7A) in 11 spins at the AHL level. The jersey-swapping continued as Brunicke represented Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship and returned to the Kamloops Blazers for a final run

2026 Panthers Prospect Profile: Gracyn Sawchyn -
After taking the opening round off at the 2023 NHL Entry Draft in Nashville, Florida Panthers general manager Bill Zito selected center Gracyn Sawchyn from the Western Hockey League’s Seattle Thunderbirds late in the second with the 63rd overall pick. Sawchyn is a hard-working, high-energy prospect who was somewhat polarizing among scouting services and hockey publications, who had him ranked anywhere from 13th to 90th, at the time. EliteProspects had this to say: Sawchyn’s game is not a complex one. He sprints hard after the puck, and if he can’t outright win the race, he tries to win the ensuing battle, then, he looks for a teammate. If the pass isn’t available, he drives inside without much concern for his safety. While Sawchyn is a meat-and-potatoes type, putting up 58 points in 58 games is an impressive feat for a slight 18-year-old. Among his strong points are his relentless forec

Canada pulls off semifinal comeback to set up rematch against United States in Hlinka Gretzky Cup gold medal match -
