Sea Dogs sign University of New Hampshire commit Jayden Connors -SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The Saint John Sea Dogs have signed defenceman Jayden Connors to a QMJHL Scholarship and Development Agreement, the team announced Friday. Connors, 19, spent the 2025-26 season with the Truro Bearcats of the Maritime Junior Hockey League. The 5-foot-10, 183-pound defenceman from Scarborough, Ont., recorded 26 points (seven goals, 19 assists) in 32 regular-season games. He added nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 17 playoff games, helping the Bearcats capture the league championship while earning playoff MVP honours. Prior to joining Truro, Connors played parts of three seasons with the St. Michael's Buzzers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, along with stints with the Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League and the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League. The Wolves came out firing in the opening period, putting the Spitfires on their heels early. Kash Kwajah opened the scoring at 13:49, beating Windsor goaltender Michael Newlove to give Sudbury the lead. Just 40 seconds later, former Spitfire JC Lemieux added another at 14:29, sending Windsor into the first intermission trailing 2-0. North Bay sent Brantford two OHL Priority Selection picks, a fourth-rounder in 2028 that originally belonged to the Erie Otters and the Battalion’s own sixth-rounder in 2030. “We’re thrilled to be able to add Jean-Samuel to our group,” said Adam Dennis, director of hockey operations. “He’s one of the many players who decided to make the jump to the Canadian Hockey League this offseason. “There was a glut of quality defencemen in Brantford, which opened up this opportunity for him to join our club. The Windsor native played 63 games last season and recorded four goals and five assists for nine points. Only five games into the season, the OHL veteran has already matched his goal total from last season. Peterborough was coming off of a 4-0 win over the Erie Otters at home the night before, and would now be facing the Frontenacs on the road for their second game in two nights. The Petes went down 5-1 after two periods, but fought back in the third. A late goal by Yanis Lutz would have put Peterborough within one, but was waived off for goaltender interference. In the end, the Frontenacs won the game by a score of 5-3. Mason Minsky had a big night for the Petes, picking up his first OHL goal and assist.
